The hardest part was getting the cover off - after that I touched the 2 wires together and sure enough it worked. Amazon Prime had the part for $6.50 with free 2 day shipping - worked like a charm and no expensive diagnostic and service call from a Sears tech - THANK YOU VERY MUCH!!

Did the bypass thing by taping the two connectors together and it showed me the thermal device was my problem. Spent the $15 on a new part, had our dryer back in operation in no time. Love it when I can fix something with help from You Tube. Thanks bunches.

I know I always go to CZcams for all my fixes now I don't have a ton of extra cash and I'd rather do it myself than pay someone a 100 bucks to come and do something incredible simple I just fixed my lawn mower by clean the carburetor out and saved me 70 bucks for a half hours work

Just wanted to thank you. I was successfully able to troubleshoot and replaced the thermal fuse on my dryer. Cleaned out a bunch of lint from the contraption on the back and it runs better than ever now. Never thought in a million years i'd be able to do such a thing.

  • @zungruitelbitladnaternoche7305

I've been fiddling with that dryer for over an hour checking switches, contacts, you name it. I gave up and checked youtube and find you immediately. That fuse was my problem. I bought that dryer new 19 years ago and had to fix it several times since. But this time it got me. Thank you so very much. You made me and my daughter really happy.

Thank you Bill. It took me five minutes to determine this was my problem. It's 9 o'clock on a Saturday night. Too late to get the part tonight. Since my wife has the wet load she had in the dryer when she determined the problem and another one started in the washer, it looks like I'll be hooking the two blue wires together and spending 90 minutes in the laundry room "watching clothes dry" tonight. lol Thank you for the information and warnings. I will proceed at my own risk. I used your advise on a different U-tube video to replace the clutch in my wifes washer and it went perfect. So I owe you a double thank you.

Bill, thanks a million for the quick tip. Being an Aircraft Mechanic, I'm a pretty handy guy and I have worked on several Whirlpools over the years, but I too, was unaware of this fuse. I got out my Fluke meter and in 30 seconds . . . confirmed that was the problem. While I had the machine with the back off, I cleaned the chute out which is a good idea to prevent a fire. Your leading me directly to the problem in the first few seconds of the video was awesome!!!! There is an appliance parts store right down the street, and $18 later, my machine is up and running. I should add that the dryer is around 8 years old, so the fuse probably was getting weak, I've seen the same thing happen on cars, a blown fuse doesn't always mean you have a short. Thank You, Thank You, Thank You !!!

I don't see a "like button" on here. But I will say I love the way you cut through the crap. You showed me the part that's most likely bad, how to bypass it temp so I can use it till my part comes in. Its obvious my collector needs to be cleaned out too, and how to test for absolute power to be sure its cranking the right amount of volts. And your disclaimer should cover those people who shouldn't be screwing around with 240v that could burn their house down. Good job and thanks!

Worked awesome. 1 suggestion would be to check the impeller at the bottom of the Lint Trap unit beside the heat fuse before looking for the open circuit. Mine had a nice wad of lint stopping the impeller from turning. Cleared it. Machine now works like new. I open the machine front & back and clean out lint a couple times a year but never thought to remove the lint trap. Took longer to remove the back screws than to fix the issue

  • @harmonicamans
    @harmonicamans Před 11 lety

Thanks for the info. It fixed my daughters dryer. The over-temp fuse was blown. You may want to remind everyone to clean the lint filter and check the screen to see if water stands on it. A film will build up on the screen and it looks clean but air will not pass through. This is why it over-heated and blew the over-temp fuse. You can clean the screen lint filter with a brush using bleach and water and spray it off with a water-hose. Be sure that the water will pass through the screen.

thanks for posting the video. that was my problem. the fuse. it's sad that I have a nephew that knows how to work on an appliance. i call him almost a month. he never showed up. so if you want something done do look on CZcams and do it yourself. thanks :)

This is a very informative video. Our Kenmore Elite dryer stopped working too - No Start, No Motor, Light inside would go on and off by pressing the Door Switch. Your suggestion that it was the Thermal Fuse was spot on.
Unfortunately, our Kenmore Dryer does not have a removable back. But, I found the Thermal Fuse behind the lower front panel (used a putty knife to pop the clips loose) on top of the air chamber held by a 1/4" screw.
Never heard about there being a Thermal Fuse but your suggestion and $15 for the part, vacuuming out all the lint, and wifey got happy.

Thank you for posting this helpful video. I was able to go right to the problem ( The fuse). I also found about five pounds of lint, legos, paper clips, safety pins, ear rings and a lot of sand from the beach.

I did exactly what you said not to do and it worked! Of course I'm not going to run it like that. I'll just get a new fuse and put it in. Thanks for the great video!

Thanks Bill....it was that fuse on the back of my dryer! Up and running!

I had just finished installing a new heater element around 1 month ago then the dryer would NOT start. I just changed the thermal fuse and IT STARTED. Thank you for making the video. It's really EASY to do, but I find putting the back on again the hardest. Lol :D

Bill, You are the man. This is exactly what happened to me. I followed your suggestion and it was the fuse that was bad. Just wanted you to know that your video helped me solve my problem. Thanks for posting it.

I was able to fix my dryer using this video for a fraction of the cost if I had a repairman come out. Thank you!

Thanks for the video Bill that was exactly the problem. Took longer to go get the part than to do the work. God Bless you and thanks for your service.

Thanks for sharing! You saved me $500!! I thought it was my push start, bought that and that wasn't it. Replaced the Safety Thermal fuse, BINGO! Was about to buy a new one, but I'm still oldschool and using the older one still!!! Thanks again

I've checked a few of your vids out along with others and your step by step is extremely helpful and much appreciated! We are currently still trying to breathe life back into the replacement dryer we now have. It will run for about 15-20 mins then stop. If we wait a while, it will go again. We've taken it apart & cleaned it already but will be working on it again this weekend after watching these vids. Thanks so much for posting them!

Worked perfectly, thank you for posting this video. I isolated the problem and bypassed the fuse so we could finish the load, tomorrow I will get a new fuse. Thanks again!
