I once tried one of these and it may not have been the most realistic. But it did show me some things I needed to improve, and it was very helpful since I could focus a little more on myself rather than my spook-prone horse. 😂
The biggest problem with the jumping one is if you arent in a two point in real life you wont be sitting in the saddle when that horse jumps let alone lands! I would love to try one of these things especially seeing as the more time your in the saddle the better off you are and i dont always have time to go out and ride
David Rothero I agree that this may help a beginner rider, but horses aren't machines. Once you get to a higher level of riding you can't rely on a horses predictability. You have to get to know how each individual horse moves and reacts. Being on a robot doesn't teach you that.
The simulators are in no way meant to be a replacement for riding a real horse. They are not meant for people to ride for a while and then go hop on a real horse and hit a x country course. They are mainly for riders to use to see if they are unbalanced in their seat or legs, if their leg position is off, if they are unbalanced on the reins, etc. the sim has sensors all over it to record and compile data so the rider can learn where they need to improve. it is more precise than just seeing how a horse reacts or just watching a rider. however, bc technology is not yet at a point where it can perfectly mimic a horse's movement and since this has no forward movement, you do have to take that into consideration. Obviously this is not a way for someone to learn how to ride or jump bc as good as it is, it is not the same as a real horse. It is very different to riding a horse and having forward motion. So, you can use it to help with balance problems and such and to help build muscles, but it is not a replacement for riding a real horse and is not meant to be.
SpottedTiger Me too also as a horse rider why is this even created? Horses are not that perfect , they have their own styles of doing it some more gentle , some more hard or fast etc. It’s better to train normally in real life. BUT it’s good for beginners and those who need to gain some balance and get used to it.
Its a good way to get used to a proper jumping position, but yes. once you start actually jumping. You need to change your technique according to your horse. Every horse is different.
That is so true when she goes to ride she may fall off because it is just a robot real horses are a lot of hard work and they take time and effort to get used to and no silly simulator can replace your horse!
This is literally a machine, if I was on a machine I wouldn't go into full two-point either, because it's not about release anymore a mechanical horse doesn't need release.
what is this jumping position???? also why is she dressed in full gear when she's not even on a really horse other wise this is a really cool invention.
It's to get a bit for feeling how things will feel when on a real horse. The vests can sometimes be a bit movement restrictive, so it's good to get used to it from the start.
That is not what it like to ride a real horse or a jump a real horse. When you jump a horse you're meant to be out of the saddle not still sat in it as if you were sitting trot or cantering. This is completely unrealistic
Hi Lauren, have you actually tried it? i'm sure Racewood would love to hear your feedback -and you're right... it's not a horse riding simulator. It's a jumping horse simulator. hence the title of the video.
+beatboxagency That makes no difference, it's still nothing like riding a horse also when jumping you're actually meant to stand up out of the saddle, not stay sat in it
sorry, i'm not sure if you have actually tried the simulator or not... could you confirm? -as i said, i'm sure Racewood would love to know any constructive feedback if you have. as for your comment about jumping, surely your issue is with the rider there, not the machine? - i filmed the video as part of a university project 4 years ago, but if i see the lady in question i'll make sure to pass on your comments about standing up when she jumps a horse
+beatboxagency I have not tried to ride their fake horse but trust me having ridden for 4 years and watched many people ride that is not at all what it looks like to ride a horse. It's completely unrealistic
You don’t actually have to come fully out the saddle. You are supposed to fold in half at your hips and lift your lower back slightly to make it easier for the horse. But she looks like she was just sitting a really long canter stride
It isnt to act as a replacement for te real thing but to be a training aid through the feedback it gives you fom the sensors within it. I was there whilst this was filmed and rode it and it was very interesting to see weight distribution and applied pressures. A useful tool :)
Melissa's Vlogs my horse would have jumped that easily (if you were referring to colour) he probably would have made it over if you were referring to height too. But definitely not if he was ridden straight into the wing😂
As someone who will never get to ride or own a horse, I’d love to have these. It looks really fun. Even if it isn’t EXACTLY like riding a real horse, it’s as good as I’ll get haha
Her equitation is cringe worthy! Her hands are terrible, she can't keep a two point, she doesn't even have a good one, her heels are, UGH! Just terrible! If she were to ride a real horse, she would get bucked off. Not normally bucked off, bucked THE HELL off.
She's got the chicken wings going on, she doesn't an arch in her back, she can't sit the canter for her life, it looks like she is kissing the horses neck when she two points a couple of times, her knees are out too much, her shoulders aren't back, her elbows aren't bent enough, should I go on?
If yall would be logical she is not on a real horse. This simulator slows things down making it harder to get into two point plus staring at the screen you cannot find a distance and she does not have a real feel on the horses mouth because news flash the horse aint real. No horse lands that slow and looking at the screen would get most people motion sick. PLUS each horse has their own different style of jumping and some horse dont even need to you to go into two point because they are more down hill and all you need to do is stand and release. It is most likely awkward sitting on this horse because A: again it is not a real horse.
ive riden one of these before multiple times when i was younger and i ride still now on reall horses the machine is meant to help with form and techniqe so you can focus with out having to worry about the horse you know how riding in a round pen or arena is compared to riding on trails or field this is like the round pen version of the round pen and although the one i rode had alot more power atleast compared to what i can see. this isnt meant to be like the olympic ring its a training tool as well as the momentum when riding is forward and back while this is down momentum which i can say from experiance makes it very hard to trot
Yup. I heard these are about 50 thousand. It's a complete waste of money! I find it funny that a metal 'horse simulator' has fancier tack than our real horses
Breyer Awesomeness Its actually not that bad i am using one of these to make my lags stronger because i can't ride a real horse because i have a bad back its actualy really hard aswell
I like the idea of being able to tell if you're putting equal weight in each of the stirrups etc, (can't read the other indicators on the screen), but that's about it.
In response to the comments, this isn't about replacing a horse or exactly mimicking the real thing. It's simply educational, to give pointers on balance etc. It's also much easier for an instructor to spot mistakes in positioning with a stationary horse.

This would be great for people who are learning to jump or who are getting use to the gaits of a horse. I would love to learn to jump on this because my current horse is so sassy that it makes it very hard to get my jumping position right.

They should make it actually ACT like a horse.. For example, bucking. I don't know about you, but I belive a horse simulator that buck's will help your balance!!
Everybody is saying the canter is too smooth, a lot of horses have really smooth canters. A lot of the horses I ride do. They need to make a saddleseat one though.
The feeling when you see her hands wrong way. Liku Girl you are not playing piano you're riding a horse. Or maybe she is just a dressage rider but still. GRRRRRR
The people hating on this video and complaning about it not being realistic enough: This is a robot for christ sake! The fact that we humans have come this far with technology is amazing! So unless you can make a better robot you should stop hating.
This looks like a lot of fun! But everyone needs to calm down :) I don't think its intended to teach riders how to jump, in her position she barely leaves the seat which in reality would ensure a very bump ride :P I think its probably just for fun! they should make this so that it throws u back like a real canter so u can ride it right
Bethany Northsmith yes. i agree. i’d like one more forward moving
Bailey Benner, YESSSSS
Yeah and they should make a pony canter because they go fast
I once tried one of these and it may not have been the most realistic. But it did show me some things I needed to improve, and it was very helpful since I could focus a little more on myself rather than my spook-prone horse. 😂
it looks so unnatural... it's just rocking back and forth for the canter. I rarely jump but even I know the jump is Unnatural
I have used these machines many times, it feels the exact same as a real horse.

good jump horses simulator
Horses have different ways they move..a robot horse just shows the way one horse may move so if she got on a real horse then *Off she goes*
So cool! I want one XD
But she does sit through the jumps y????
+Hunter Strides I've been on one, you have no momentum to help you out !
+Hmain xxx what country you get them in
+Hmain xxx I have never jumped and I think that riding one would be an amazing intro after the first or second lesson.

The best thing you can do to learn or practise is to find a really well schooled horse/ a riding school pony
I think this would be a great learning tool.
