    There is a tradition, in “Peter Pan”, that the Father and Captain Hook are played by the same actor. Even in the cartoon, it is the same voice actor. I’m not sure, but I think the Hunter being played by the same actor as his Dad was a nod to that tradition.

    • @ivankawnartist
      @ivankawnartist Před rokem +4

      Common misconception there. Thr actual reasoning behind it was cost effectiveness to use the same actor for two roles instead of hiring an additional actor. The cost to train and transport all the animals in the film ended up being so high they had to cut down on spending in other areas.

    One really morbid thing that happens off screen that no one ever seems to notice is that Judy and Peter both die, but the rewind in time prevents their deaths. I have always wondered about the time travel, but amusingly never considered that with Alan and Sarah. I always wanted to know what Judy and Peter experienced - if they even remembered anything at all. It's always been my hang-up with this movie, though I still adore it!

    • @DaveIshAwshum
      @DaveIshAwshum Před rokem +13

      When the game ends everything gets reversed, so Alan never gets sent to the jungle (which causes time to reverse, not necessarily real time travel)! Because everything has been reversed there's a new timeline, so Judy and Peter wouldn't be able to remember any of it because it never happened for them. Hope that helps everything make more sense!

    • @22Tesla
      @22Tesla Před rokem +2

      Hmmm... depends. In Welcome to the Jungle, the one character who was trapped in the game for years got sent back to his time while the other characters came back to their present time with all the memories. Since this film ends in December, a couple months before Judy and Peter's parents were to pass away, I suspect if we'd kept watching, there would be a moment when all those memories come back and they realize that time has reset. Imagine them talking with Allan and Sarah later in a moment of "we have just remembered everything."
      Also Judy reads the rule; "Adventurers beware, do not begin unless you intend to finish." Meaning that the moment Sarah rolled the dice, the universe split off from the main one, where all events of the game would be experienced by the world, but only remembered as having happened by those who played it.

    • @ZukoHalliwell
      @ZukoHalliwell Před 3 měsíci +1

      @@22Tesla That's what I think too. Judy and Peter would remember everything a few months after the ending.

Telling adults would only make make them do it more discreetly. When I fought back, I did not overpower them, but at least they don't go out laughing or looking cool either. The Jumanji Mansion on the inside was all a set just for the movie, and the house front was just that , a front that you only see in a couple scenes ( a beautiful colonial -neoclassical style of the late 1800s and early 1900s)
    And well with Bel Air the mansion that we see on the series it's actually a real house in L.A , but again, the interior was just a Set in another location.
    Sadly the amazing Parrish Mansion in "New Hampshire" was demolished after the movie , and all the amazing set interior as well. But actually in 2022 , the little wall of stone of the main street for the house, still exist (of course there's another house in the site)

    FYI, the "original" original Wizard of Oz was actually a silent film; the one most people know is a remake of that.

    Glad you enjoyed this film! Can’t wait to see more of Jumanji and Hook! To answer your question, there is a board game identical to the film version, but it has decoder to read the catastrophes and two dice, one for moves, another for tools to get out of the catastrophe. I’d like to recommend the film Zathura, which is set in the same universe as Jumanji in the book. It has a similar plot but in outer space. It stars Joshua Hutchinson, Jonah Bobo, Dax Shepard, and Kristen Stewart.

    Yes, there are real-world adaptations of the board game, three different versions in fact. There's the Milton Bradley version which is the first version ever made, there's the more recent Spin Master version which looks a lot more fun, and finally the Noble Collection version which is the only version to be an exact replica of the movie prop and as you can imagine is the most expensive.

    You seem to favor animated movies so I wonder if you'd be interested in trying the animated "The Hobbit" (1977) and possibly the animated "The Lord of the Rings" (1978) and the animated "The Return of the King" (1980). The Lord of the Rings movie is both The Fellowship of the Rings and The Two Towers together.

    The reason he didn't die in the jungle was simple. He wasn't supposed to. He was to Wait. So he has to witness all that goes on in the jungle without it actually hunting him. Though as a kid he had no clue he wasn't in danger because he had to Wait. Not die.

    There is at least 2 versions of the board game available. Classic and deluxe electronic.
    > The earliest surviving version of The Wizard of OZ was made in 1910 and was a silent movie.
    > The 1939 version might be the earliest version with sound and color.
    > Jumanji franchise includes Jumanji (1995), Zathura: A Space Adventure (2005); Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle (2017), and Jumanji: The Next Level (2019), and an animated television series which aired from 1996 to 1999.
    > David Alan Grier movies, some are dated - I'm Gonna Git You Sucka (1988); Blankman (1994); In the Army Now (1994); Goldilocks and the Three Bears (1995); Tales from the Hood (1995), McHale's Navy (1997) and many more.

    Thanks for sharing your experience! I agree that the whole hunter scene is a bit silly compared to the rest of the movie. I’ve never seen the newer Jumanji movies so I can’t judge. I hope you do react to the Wizard of Oz!

    Theu really could've sequeled this more over time with different actors, and different outcomes. Even though jumanji is based on african jungles, it could use south american, various asian, and other jungles modern or even prehistoric. And since its more about the game, this premis could be almost never ending. In theory at least.

  • @ThatShyGuyMatt

    Technically Sarah couldn't have finished the game as the game forced you to take turns. Her turn was next of course, but after that she would have needed Alan to roll again. :)

    • @BoxOKittens
      @BoxOKittens Před rokem +3

      wait which part are you referencing? Alan did go last when they were kids, meaning that Sarah needed to go next before Alan could roll again. Edit: wait nevermind I see what you were getting at lol

    • @Jbr2005
      @Jbr2005 Před rokem +2

      Actually it's a pretty common thing to know that if somebody is in some sort of jail or time out in a game then their turn gets skipped. Being that she was the only other player she would have just kept rolling until she rolled a five or eight and then he would have been back in the game

    • @BoxOKittens
      @BoxOKittens Před rokem +4

      @@Jbr2005 But since that's never a rule in Jumanji, then it's pure speculation on your part to assume that's a rule. In fact we see all of the rules written out and that's not included, even though the game specified that rolling a 'double' means you get an extra turn.
