But or Rent - Paranorman - • ParaNorman
Young Norman Babcock (Kodi Smit-McPhee) has the ability to speak with the dead -- and he often prefers their company to that of the living. Norman receives word from his strange Uncle Prenderghast (John Goodman) that a centuries-old witch's curse on their town is real and about to come true -- and that only Norman can stop it. When zombies rise from their graves, Norman must summon all his courage and compassion and push his paranormal abilities to the limit to save his fellow townspeople.

The best topics they touched on was fear and forgiveness. Fear is something everyone struggles with. But it’s not about the fear, it’s about how you confront it. The town never confronted their fear of Agatha; they just ran from it by killing her in fear and ignorance. So it’s nice how Norman confronted that fear with the mature attitude. Instead of trying to be rid of her, he tried to understand and reasoned with her. And I felt that Agatha truly forgave them only when Norman pointed out her hypocrisy. He understood her pain, but showed her how to cope with it by thinking of the people who cared for her. Can’t wait for Hotel Transylvania!
🧑🏽🦱👻🧟♂️🧙🏻♀️
the ending is so cute, seeing Norma's father talking to his mom (and believing his son of course)
and yeah, how they make the animation is crazy; there's a lot of patience needed knowing you have to work on a puppet for months just to get 1 or 2 seconds of smooth movement
+Pastrus S I still get choked up by that. The whole family sitting down to watch TV together, too.

In my understanding, Aggie only had the power to talk to the dead when she was alive. Once she was sentenced, they did execute her, and then her mother buried her by the tree. When she died, she became a very powerful, vengeful spirit, giving her a lot more abilities like cursing people to undeath, and her family (she shares her last name with Norman, suggesting that it's been a family tradition for generations) tried to calm her with a story. Much like real life, ignoring and quieting your feelings doesn't actually make them go away, and stuff got really out of hand until someone sat with her and validated her anger while correcting her actions, letting her process having, y'know, been executed around 11 years old.
+Linden Well said. And to make matters worse, she was forced to endure those same stupid fairy tale stories for centuries. I'd be extremely bored and frustrated, too. No wonder her rage festered and turned her into a vengeful monster--when her anger was initially pretty justified. You would think that a family with such a rare ability would sympathize with her--but nope, they played a part in shutting her up. It was if she was being killed twice. Norman was such a good, brave kid for being the one to break the cycle.
Death seems to have liberated Aggie's power to far greater heights.
@@KindredKeepsake catching her early enough can keep her dormant for nearly 300 years but no more. The grand uncle kept from telling Norman all of the story of Agatha was part of why she couldn't be put back to sleep again.
Actually, her last name is the same as Norman's uncle. So, she's related to him on his mother's side.
Its one my favourites since I was a child.... every laika movie is so breathtaking, and I love your reactions to them
So in terms of the Salem witch trials, it wasn't burning, it was hanging, and other forms of torture. Buring at the stake occurred in other parts of the world but was more common in Europe (in terms of the media depiction of people being burned at the stake for witchcraft, which did occur in Europe.). Most famously during the Inquisition and other famous events of mass hysteria.
There were no accused witches burned in North America however those black slaves that would poison their masters and burn down their mansions were burned alive at the stake.
I think the explosion was just to transition and show the curse taking affect because they couldn’t have been cursed unless they went through with killing her. So sad. Just because they didn’t understand her.
Wait isn't this year the 10th anniversary of this movie???🤔

Yes!!!!!!!!
It’s weird you keep calling Norman ParaNorman since that’s just the title of the movie (a take on Paranormal) and not his name.
+Jigsaw Lenny Paranorman would make a GREAT superhero name, though. XD And he already has powers!
I remember calling him that when I was younger
I heard this movie had the first openly gay animated character
when will you upload the Harry Potter reactions
