My thoughts on the monster at the end is that it is a physical embodiment of depression. A light wrapped in shadow (person lost in sadness)
As someone who has struggled with really bad depression, that's definitely what it felt like a lot of the time. Like you're stuck inside this cocoon, and you can't break out of it because it's a part of you. Over time you just learn to live with it, and before you know it, this cocoon starts to crack. It never fully goes away, but the remaining pieces are now so small that you hardly notice them anymore.
As someone who is standing in front of the sword right now, yes. This is exactly it. I have so much love in my heart that I so badly want to share with others. I understand humanity and why humans can be so dark and hateful. I want to help. But the world is so eager to destroy anyone different, anyone who is just trying to be themselves, that it makes someone ask if it is even worth it. Are people ready to be helped? Do they even deserve it? Should I just give in and become what they want me to be, what they crave so strongly? Or should I remove myself from it all so I do not become part of the problem?
When he took the arrow out of Nimona's leg. Look at her face, she never had someone care for her before and it shows on her face.
They have been through so much pain, and had to suffer silently for fear of betrayal and abandonment. This is why they didn't respond when he pulled the arrow out. When they said "I've been through worse", it drives this point home. And yes, it was unfamiliar to them to have someone care. The extreme amount of energy at the beginning is one symptom of abandonment issues and the excitement of a possible connection. The anger in the home after the interaction with the girl shows that they bottled up the pain, but it was still there. When they turned into the huge thing and went through the city, it was basically them giving into the hate. But notice that they never harmed anyone. They know that people aren't the enemy, it's the system. This is also mentioned at the end with the anarchy and heart sign. A way to say "rebel against the system with love". Also notice they had very high technology but still antiquated ways of doing things. This is a commentary of our current world. We have all this technology but still do things "because that's how it has always been done" and living by "old values". Values such as binary gender, which is why they are triggered every time they are asked their gender. The reference to "I'm a boy today" is a nod to being gender fluid, which is why I say "they" when talking about Nimona. Something I don't see anyone talk about is where Nimona's parents were. This suggests abandonment. It is possible that Nimona initially felt safe exploring shape shifting around family, but family cast them out, which is why they went seeking approval in the wild. Hate is taught. We see this with the young version of Galorith. Our natural state is love, acceptance and play.
Annapurna definitely did Blue Sky justice. I'm so glad this film got a second chance and had so many thought provoking messages. Big metaphors/analogies to fearmongering and propaganda against minorities, using fear to control, the victors writing the history books, use of excessive force, maintaining tradition/the status quo at all costs, gaslighting, and hiding the parts of yourself that aren’t “normal” enough for others’ comfort, among others. It’s pretty spectacular.

This movie has so much symbolism down to the armor coloring. Ambrosius having gold armor because he descends from Gloreth makes him the literal "Golden Boy" while the other "regular" knights have gray and silver armor. Ballister has black armor symbolizing him being the black sheep for not being royalty.
The movie does show that Nimona gets powers of what animal she turns into with the cereal dragon. so when she became a Phoenix she got the phoenix power of regeneration through death.
Also nimona wanting to killing herself or let them kill her cause of her suffering isn't insane. its pain and suffering.
This movie is so important to the trans and especially to the gender fluid community, thats what the movie is about, thanks for reacting!

I think this is perfect metaphor for anyone who's different. I'm an unwanted immigrant and I related strongly.
Though you don't need to push it down people's throat. The movie works perfectly without knowing the agenda behind it. Seeing these comments in every damn video is starting to feel like a religious propaganda crusade and it's getting tiring, no matter how much I support it as a bisexual myself.
@@Atlas_Redux The movie was literally made by a trans person. Yes, you can see it through any lense, but the overall implication is very clear to be for people under the trans umbrella.

Great movie!
Imagine being born a certain way that nobody understands or accepts. Imagine being hunted by the government and having to live in secret from the time of childhood until old age. Imagine being afraid to tell anyone who or what you are for fear of abandonment or betrayal. Imagine being so exhausted at the fear and hate that you just want to end it all. Imagine being afraid to ask for help for fear of retaliation. So you go your entire life, silently afraid, unable to even tell someone that you're afraid. The worst pain is the pain you aren't allowed to express, so you teach yourself not to respond to any pain, no matter how much it hurts. People DO suffer like this, especially in "conservative" areas.
When you vote, you're expressing the kind of world you want to create. When you vote, you're telling the world what kind of things you agree with. Do you want to create a world where people suffer like this, or do you want to create a world where freedom matters? If you live in the United States, this is election season. Remember, just because you don't see someone holding the sword to themselves in front of you, doesn't mean they aren't holding it in the privacy of their own home. What message do you want to send that person?
