One thing you didn't seem to notice: the Nora who owns the restaurant now is actually Aunt Nora from the first Jumanji film, again played by Bebe Newirth (who you still managed to accurately spot as Lilith from Frasier).

"Jumanji 4: The Final Level" is in early development, but it does sound like they will honor the original in a way. Great reactions to this sequel which injected a lot of comedy into this series of films, Sam!!!đŹđđœđđœđđœ

Jack Black shows the most versatile and authentic portrayal of any character that he becomes.
This movie perfectly walks the line between bringing back enough of what what people loved about the last one, while also adding new things so it doesn't just feel like a pointless rehash. And it really says something about how great Karen Gillan was the last time around that she's the one part of the setup they decided to just leave completely the same (and even then, she gets her own chance to join the fun of doing something different when Fridge is switched into Ruby).
Especially improved is Kevin Hart, who got some flack in the last movie for just doing his usual performance rather than trying to match Ser'Darius Blaine's performance as Fridge. But this time Mouse gets controlled by Danny Glover, allowing him to do a spot-on impression of Glover's very distinctive persona (which you just got a big taste of in Lethal Weapon).
There's really only one thing I think is a step down, which is how they lose their lives. In Welcome to the Jungle that all felt totally natural, but here you can really feel them struggling with how to get everyone down to one life before the climax, especially in how the whole Switchblade thing very much feels thrown in at the last minute so everyone can get killed at once. But it's really hard to care that much when everything else is so great, and I very much hope they get to another one, as implied by that post-credits scene.
After a rewatch i was amazed with all the body switching they were still ableto keep track of the life count in game correctly without any mistakes.
I was so bizarely impressed with the acting in this movie.
"Getting old is a gift. I forget that sometimes, but it is. What more could a guy possibly want?"
Fun Fact: The phrase "-or something" is said 7 times throughout the movie by various characters.
Location Location Fact: Filmed partially at Imperial Sand Dunes Recreation Area (sometimes called the Glamis Dunes) in California.
Sequel Connection Fact: This film connects to Jumanji (1995) as Bebe Neuwirth reprises her role as Nora Shepherd, the aunt of Peter and Judy who played the Jumanji board game in the first film 24 years earlier.
Epic Post-Production Fact: Saw one of the fastest turnarounds from filming to theatrical release for a major studio film. Filming did not begin until February 2019 and wrapped four months later in May, for a December release only seven months later. Most films complete filming nearly a year before their release.
One thing I really appreciate about these films is that as popcorn as they are they have a very healthy attitude to gender identity - Spencer isn't disappointed at becoming Ming because 'she's a girl', he's just upset that he ended up in someone who is basically who he already is. Bethany meanwhile is happy to be Shelly again at least for a while and Fridge is downright thrilled to be Ruby Roundhouse (though who wouldn't be?)
And even Eddie, who's just thrilled to have hair again. đ
One of the camels being named Lucille reminds me of an episode of Dr Who. The good Doctor is one a male horse who had been introduced to him by his (the horse's) owner as Joshua, only for the only to be correct by the Doctor. "No he's not. I speak horse, he's called Susan, and he wants you to respect his life choices." :D Still makes me chuckle, even when I know it's coming, and also makes me wonder if "Lucille" is also a life choice. :P
When I saw the trailers for this, I didn't like the voices. Because it wasn't like welcome to the jungle. But when I saw the movie, I understood we had more players and the avatars could change. Still don't like it as much as the jungle, but it is a different game. Milo staying alive. Then, the ending harkening back to the first one? Will we get another? If so, I hope it doesn't suck. Great watching with you.
âŠI never thought of them as full sequels, until I realized. Thereâs Jumanji, then the next movie is Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle. This is Jumanji: The Next Level. So technicallyâŠtheyâre all part of Jumanji, including bringing the 1st movie into the 2nd. ThereforeâŠsequels? Right?
I would love a movie like this in a fantasy game setting.
Alex the real one this time. Heâs such a side character but when Bethany comes to him for help, he has a wife and children. Heâs not an old man, and heâs not a kid- he has a lot to lose and still chose to help.
It's funny that the biologist didn't comment that the ostriches were all male, and had a strange growth on the beaks unlike the ones in our world.
Yeah, Jumanji's really got it in for Fridge.

There is also a spinoff movie of the original Jumanji. Not an official sequel or anything but worth a watch perhaps. Thereâs also 2 more (that i know off) âgameworld moviesâ that are acceptable to watch, perhaps not as reaction vids but decent.
Interesting note: there is gonna be another movie. Maybe in 2024. Jumanji: The Final Level. Can't wait to see that
Now you need to watch Zathura: A Space Adventure. It's based on a story by the same author as Jumanji, and it's very similar to the first Jumanji film. It doesn't have Robin Williams, but if you liked the original Jumanji, you'll like Zathura.

I remember hating the trailer for the first Jumanji "remake" movie, and I loved these movies, they're so silly and funny
They are working on a 4th movie but it's been stuck in development for years

All three Jumanji movies are based on a book by Chris Van Allsburg AS IS a movie called 'Zathura: A Space Adventure'. Same story line (lost in a game) but in space. Check it out.

The movie was sort of fun BUT it was clumsy and confusing. Mixing up the characters and REMIXING them was a bad idea. It added to the confusion. đ”âđ«

Jumanji started as a board game and, then, turned itself into a video game in order to stay relevant. What if it turns itself into an app game or an mmorpg, and the world starts playing at once.
Not as good as Welcome to the Jungle, but is still a lot of fun! I would watch Jack Black and Karen Gillan play these characters forever with a revolving cast of 'players'.

I've seen her in a few movies lately and her wit and award winning, comedic skills are impressive, as a best supporting character.
I loved the original, and I think the 2nd was an excellent sequel, I also enjoyed this one as well.

It's unfortunately very uncomfortable watching Kevin Hart go through the usual slapstick violence in this movie, as very shortly after filming wrapped he was in a car accident and suffered a horrific compound fracture to his spine, which left it questionable for a while whether he'd be paralyzed. Thankfully, he made a full recovery and is now back on his usual jobs.
