Thanks Mark for letting me share my own personal life story. Hopefully everyone will enjoy my candor and funny personality. Wow. Todd's backstory is a lesson in self-reliance and mental toughness. He's also the among the best, if not the best story teller in the history of this channel. Absolutely riveting. Glad he came out of this with his head intact. Live long and well brother.
Love this dude, as a former NYC medic, 9/11 responder, and current psychiatric tech, I can relate to a lot of what he is saying, people need this kind of truth in society, this is true knowledge, you don't learn these life lessons in college. Love your content brother, keep them coming.
Much respect for your service in that field. Especially during 9/11.
Thank you sir, I could not imagine being anywhere else, I was fortunate to be on the job then, a lot of people wanted to do more, I got the chance.@@scifyry
I appreciate Todd coming back for round two. He definitely had the right disposition to work in prison. I worked 30 years in a prison and it's a shame people like him are a dying breed in cdcr.
What are the new people (ie the people replacing the dying breed) like?
Having Admin Lt. telling you not to carry your holster inside the institution after you just got done taking Richard Alan David to Marin General does not help when asked why? It might intimidate the inmates and they will sue. Kern to Vacaville, SQ, Tracy to Corcoran, Salinas valley or CMC! How much money did they blow on new patches that added rehabilitation to the patch? No one ends up at CDC-R on accident. One in 3k might get rehabilitated but stats don’t lie. Sadly you would go to prison for what was acceptable practice 25 years ago. Inmates are definitely running the asylum.
I love this guy! You can tell he's really genuine. What you see is what you get.
Yup
He is just like the rest of us in the early 80's. My Dad was the head CO in Alameda County and ran the streets in Oakland. He taught me a lot of the same things this guy talks about.
A lot of prison guards could learn a lot from this man .
My buddy is a CO and much like Todd. Unfortunately he'll never reach the highest levels with the best pay because you have to be an asshole, a liar, a backstabber, and a cheat in order to make it.
What do you mean?
@@karabak8103 correct. My local jail the CO's get kickbacks from the criminals to allow suboxone into the jail and to ignore the transactions of them being sold, within the jail. People will literally go to jail just to bring in a prescription of strips in their bunghole so they can turn a few hundred into $5000, they go for $100 per strip behind bars.

Theres good and bad people at every job. Dont say “alot” of them could learn from him acting like theres alot more bad ones then good ones. This isnt the police we are talking about.
I’ve been working in the prison system for 24 years. We are just like the inmates. Struggling to overcome our darkness.
Stop lying to yourself. You are not like the inmates. You get to punch out, go home everyday and call off work. After 24yrs you should know that by now
@@aspartamekillsyaknow9019 Try working just a couple of years in the prison system, then tell us what you think.
@@karenfryberger4260 I wouldn't want to. I'd just be paid to be a dickhead and a rat. I'd have the inmates selling dope and Suboxone for me. I'd probably wind up getting locked up just for coming to work, because this guy would snitch me out.
@@karenfryberger4260 Right. Everyone thinks they know how it is 👆🏻
@@karenfryberger4260 try being an inmate and tell me CO’s have it just as bad. That’s a joke
I really love your channel man. I know he's an intense guy but I really appreciate that he didn't let bad things in life crush him and take him down a worse route. He was given lemons and made lemonade. My father and my siblings all grew up in somewhat similar situations to him here in Australia. We were kicked out of home in our early to mid teens, working, renting, going to school and there was an easy route to go to drugs or turn to crime but we pulled through.
It forced us all to grow up very fast.
For me, I was very lucky to have a good community of friends and an older brother. The army was a good place for me to go to so I could get my shit together too.
I guess in those ways, I could really relate to what he said.
Good friends and family who love you make a world of difference. ❤
He also grew up in a broken home ran by drug addicts, yet still didn't resort to selling/using drugs AT ANY POINT in his life..
Finished interview. Incredibly powerful...Bring him back in the future please!!
I overcame horrors of my own exactly like this man did. With the same mindset. People always ask me how I didn't turn into a cutter, addict or suicidal. Man, when he mentioned "it's luck" that hit home.
