Yeah I said to somebody else I don't use hoverboots, hoverclock, or special powder because they don't help you do damage. It's extremely rare that I die from fall damage, its almost always projectiles. Most scouts that join my games don't end up with very high kill counts when they have those builds. I prefer to play more aggressively - kill more, hover ineffectively less.

It's about finding a balance between running away and killing if you want to win missions. You can't rely on other people to do all the heavy lifting.
@241RandyTV Gaming (Parfait) I'm rather of the same mind you are, especially about hoverboots; if you play around having them, then your brain will inevitably make you try to use them when they are on cooldown. Better to wedge yourself in the ceiling in a tiny unreachable gap when the exploders find and wedge you in. :)

I fail because everyone else is dead (so I take revive), I die to cave leech (so I take heightened senses), or I die to projectiles (iron will always). In the cases where I needed a clutch perk to survive, hover boots just wasn't it.
Killed an innocent creature -> attempt to end its own life because of guilt -> notice ressources, enemies and Warden down the fall -> decided to live an other day to help its team clearing this mess

For sure either mobility options are nice. But i prefer not to use hover boots, hoverclock, or special powder in favour of something that increases damage or survivability vs the bugs. Turns out I very rarely die from fall damage (such as in this video). 90% of the time it's from a projectile or ONE GODDAMN PIXEL of praetorian spit.
Indeed. But I prefer not to use the M1000 or the hover boots perk (or special powder for that matter). Just 2.5 second grapple cool down and try not to die.

@@krel7160 Reminds me of one time when I was playing scout and I accidentaly grappled to a high place with no floor, so I started pressing X to get the attention of the engineer so he could place a platform below me so I didn't die of fall damage. The engineer then came near me and started placing platforms on some random places and asking "Where do you want to go?", after we had stayed there for 2 whole minutes he asked "Are you stuck?", to which I nodded. He then started blasting the wall I was grappled on with the grenade launcher. I then fell to the ground deep below and explained that I was asking him to place a platform below me and he apologized. It was a pretty funny situation tbh.

With the M1 grand weapon for Scout and the Hoverclock OC, you can just slow down time before hitting the ground by holding the left mouse button.
