Going into this mission, I knew that out of the 6 eggs two of them would be swarm eggs. My plan was to pull an egg and if it produced a swarm, I would fight it out before pulling another one. I tried this mission before and pulled two eggs right away which both happened to be the swarm eggs. I failed. And of course, the very first (and very last) egg I pulled in this mission was a swarm egg.
I went back and forth internally on whether or not I wanted to do the Tritilyte Deposit. Ultimately I decided not to do it. I started it because I wanted the XP for it, but from what I recall you have to wait until the mission fails. I saw that it was 3 minutes and got impatient, so I just extracted. - Hry
Bro did it without pheromones..he just have balls big as a bulk's weakpoint, rly wp

Glad you're enjoying 5+8! Sad to see so many players just writing it off as being a bad kind of hard instead of looking at it as a problem to solve.

people want the kind of hard that they can handle, anything above that is bad while refusing to play on lower difficulties due to gamer ego or something
Haz 5+8 looks does look fun! The challenge and strategy involved makes it difficult in a fun way. People are complaining about it just bc they are used to haz 5s slower and less punishing hordes. Getting hit by three or four enemies does decent damage, but the game doesn't punish you as badly. With this, people play it exactly like haz 5 and get mad when they can't do the same thing and get punished for doing so.
it limits build options. haz5 double enemies is a nice middle ground.
@@M1911papThis guy seems to have had a blast with it using cryo grenades and overtuned particle accelerator though lol. Like, I'm sure this hits stuff like autocannon and pgl pretty badly but like, so does every increase in difficulty. It kinda comes naturally that you need good weapons to play a hard mission, and even saying that, OPA and cryos, so its not even that rigid.
Always moderately horrifying to see how fast the 5a enemies move lmao. Ggs, awesome to see the class with the notoriously least firepower absolutely kicking ass!
Also, may just be on my end but at 6:40, 8:10 and a few other parts it looks like the video file corrupted

That was really fun. I especially liked the intro and the whole demonstration of having a good fighting area that fits solo scout's needs. Really happy you're finding new and interesting challenges with what the new season offers!!! It seems tailored to challenge even those at the top tier of play, and that's all to the good, I think.
Absolutely! I failed many times as well doing this challenge. And I think it completely changes which enemies are important to focus. I quickly learned that web spitters are a big problem if they hit you. The slow down, low visibility, and increased damage can be derailing to a mission. Normally I wouldn’t think much of them - they were more annoying than anything.
But then again, I guess with all the modifiers turned on, every single enemy is a problem…lol

Haz 5+ all modifers feels like haz 7. Haz 6x2 is infinitly easier.
I like the shield battery booster as you start getting your shields back almost instantly, and still get a big damage boost when shield is full
I’ve used SBB on lower haz levels pretty much exclusively for tanking damage while ignoring enemies. I’ll have to give it a shot on 5+ and see how it feels
i mean if you need to barely get hit anyway, i can see how itd be better tbf
Also a tip from that reload mod equip if you press the reload button for the drak in 50% it immediately cools the gun down

Well dang, that is a fun build to watch, what with how close you have to get to enemies to get lots of damage in. Swarms look really high octane.

Thanks! And I kind of explain it in the description. You typically still get XP for a failed event. I activated it with the intention of just letting the time run out, but saw it was 3 minutes and got impatient. Didn’t want to wait an additional 3 minutes

Is pheromones so good that it needs to be removed from these runs? Never thought of it as op
Personal preference really. I run pheromones a lot because I find it fun to group up the enemies and destroy them. I wanted to try something a little more challenging this run. I think if I played a lot of 5+ pheros would be my main one
Real clean. Your build is strong, too. Only weak point is it runs out of shotgun ammo even with both mods, but that's not too bad.
Thanks! It’s a fun build. Even more fun with pheromones since they all bunch up. Double barrel just instantly destroys like 30+ enemies
@@benicopter Yeah, i did a test run with it exactly as you set it up here, but then after that i of course went and tried with pheremone and that is some real efficiency for solo scout. I haven't used Double Barrel much so i still don't have a good feel for the blast aoe, either.
You should try double barrel with the agressive venting DRAK with hot feet and manual heat dump mods
That thing just gives you a constant speed boost and scares away enemies (also if you overheat in front of the praetorian he politely turns around and shows you his ass for an easy kill)
I love that setup! Kinda nervous to try it on 5+ though. The enemies are so tanky it would be hard to kill anything
jesus christ... and i struggle with Hazard 3 if i have more than 2 people (enemy amount seem to multiply depending on group size)
How do you mine so fast and drop resources to the mule? Is it cheat mode?
He mines faster by pressing right click repeatedly instead of holding it down to avoid the lag after swinging.
You can deposit really fast by spamming E instead of holding, but you have to mash extremely fast so he probably has it bound to scroll wheel or on a macro.

Yeah doing live is very hard - but I’d like to do some more commentary. I had one DD where I added commentary and it was pretty fun

I love aggressive venting as well but haven’t tried it on 5+ yet. I went with OPA because I like the damage it does, and I use it more for the ranged enemies that are high priority (mactera, spitters, etc)

100%. And I was just greedy - thought I was out of view of the Menace. But knew I had Iron Will anyway so just YOLO’d it
I think it would have been better if you have armor breaking on overtone particle accelerator.
I usually run armor breaking on it, but since I wasn’t really using it much for the swarm fights I thought it would work better to slow some of them down with the electric

Why pheromones are OP?
Its effectiveness scales with enemy count. Every pheromoned bug is like a L.U.R.E. that fights back. Throwing one nade at a medium-sized group of grunts can render the entire swarm harmless for its duration.
When playing solo, with 1 resupply I’d have 12 pheromones. That’s more than enough to handle the swarms, and double barrel just eviscerates the grouped up bunch of enemies. With a full squad I imagine they aren’t as OP since you have to share the resupply

I couldn’t tell ya. The game is pretty balanced IMO. I also feel a lot of it has to do with your playing style. So what one person considers OP another might not. It also depends on what hazard level you’re playing and what your objective is. I would almost never play any of my speedrunning builds on a normal haz5 or haz5+ mission.
Why not TEF?
Honestly, I don’t think I’ve tried it. I’m the type that one I find something I like, I stick with it for a very long time. There’s still numerous OC’s I haven’t even tried yet 😬
