This is the second video in our Algonquin series, recounting our 3 week canoe camping trip across Algonquin Park, Canada in the fall of 2019. This was our first portage trip, and as you will soon find out, neither one of us really knew what we were doing. Our route started and ended at Opeongo, stretching up to Brent then back down. This video will take us from Happy Isle to Burntroot.

You guys are the definition of PURE!
Absolutely beautiful scenery! Wonderful video!!
My partner and I coincidently stayed at your most beautiful campsite when we went on our trip together last year (before I saw this video)! It really is one of the best. Thanks for sharing your trip, the video turned out amazing :)
Thank u guys for this ! I am a HUGE algonquin lover and have been in the interior many times as well. I havent been in about 30 years so watching your videos on my 75" hdtv brings me right back ! You guys are awesome , i love your humor and may i say its nice to have such a beautiful girl to look at as well lol cheers guys
It looks you have fun together. Thanks for sharing your trip.
Thanks Keith! We definitely know how to keep each other entertained haha
Part 3 coming next week :)
Excellent filming Karam!
Thank you so much :) Definitely a lot of work and very exhausting to always be thinking about the camera! Glad it paid off
I have been to Brent but it was up through Canoe Lake.
Haha awesome adventure guys ty for sharing peace 🌳🌱❤3
it's our pleasure! Honestly was fun despite all the extra work filming it haha
Such an amaaaazing piece of content u guys!!! 👏🏽 congrats on the filming, voiceover, the way it is all tied up together! 🥺 + the natureeeee shots ohmg!!! ❤️ kisses to both of u! U are so lovely 😊
Aww thanks Gina, really appreciate the love! Glad you liked it and can't wait for you to see the rest 😍😍😍lots of kisses back at uu
The way of the Fremen is spreading! Love me some of that Melange (The Spice) !
I am so fucking excited for the movie to come out! I read it faster than pretty much any other book ever (except perhaps for Harry Potter) 😂
I've got to say, I'm always impressed by those who have the patience to stage shots, get that right point of view, etc. The results are great for audiences, but I don't have the patience. I'm typically filming for my own future-self anyway... So I guess I'm saying, Elena - I think I'd be frustrated too! :)
I couldn't stand these staged shots!! Especially when it was raining, I was tired and hungry, the last thing I wanted to do was canoe the extra length back and forth just to get that "perfect shot" (as Karam would say 😂). But, it does definitely make for amazing shots and production value afterwards. I've come around to it since seeing all the footage!
5:27 There's something about that site on Big Trout, eh? I love it too. :)
absolutely magical. definitely our favourite. I think it's probably how the sun hit in the evening and the access to that open rock and that beautiful view of the island in front!
I love poopoo brownies, they're the best 👀 Those campsites were filled with magical moments. Looking forward to the gear video and part 3, LETS GOUOUOUUUUUU!! Also Karam....get back in the kitchen!!!
💩 thanks Chris! Part is gonna be a good one there are so many funny moments you're gonna love it! Also lol I do back home, but for the meantime elena needs to learn how to make a fire 😉
Yay, skinny dipping!
So nice to be out where no one is around!
Best part of this trip is definitely filming Elena lol
i disagree
Yeah for you the best part was definitely being around me (Karam) all the time
Its really hard to record, you guys are awesome. Blessed.
haha it definitely is a lot of work. we had to walk and canoe so much more cause of it and we always had to think about it lol
Thank you!!
@@Karamintheworld that’s why watching your vlogs is lot worth.
I searched for camping and found one of your videos. After watching one I started watching all your videos and subscribed. All Amazing. I'm planning to go camping. Would you tell me which lense and camera you used for this video? Especially starting from 5.44. Min. Appreciate your reply.
This is so cute thank you so much for the compliments :) love your feedback and sending you love!
These videos were all shot on a Sony alpha r 2 with a 16-35mm f2.8 lens and some 70-200 f4 :)
Awesome video! I am curious what the temperatures were like when you went and what the mosquito situation was like. Thanks!
Thank you :)
Actually I think that we went in the perfect time of the year for a trip like this! our first week the temperatures were about 20 - 25 during the day with sun mostly. Towards the end the nights got down to 1 - 3 degrees and it was wet and colder (this is almost mid October).
And we really didn't encounter that many mosquitos, only on a few portages that they bothered us a bit, but overall they were very minimal!
Hope this helps :)
@@Karamintheworld Amazing 😄 thank you so much!!!
Good Times...
The best haha! Love that campsite on Big Trout Lake!!
Holy crap you brought a laptop hahah. The filming gear is a burden but like Karam said, it's worth it in the end :)
lol in hindsight, not the best idea. But I was too broke to buy extra memory cards for the trip. But definitely worth it :)
Nice video. What month did you go?
Thank you so much :) We did this from mid-September to the beginning of October! Perfect time to do it honestly. it wasn't too cold and the trees were so beautiful! No mosquitos and a lot less people :)
We'll be posting the next episode on Thursday! Would love to see you sticking around for it :)
DUNE nice camp read
A great camp read! Karam had been talking about it for so long that I had read it :)
No soap in the lakes! Even biodegradable! And toothpaste! Awesome video though.
Yup this was brought to our attention since we've posted these videos :) Thanks for letting us know! we'll be sure not to do it next time
@@Karamintheworld awesome. Your cinematography is masterful, can't wait to see more content!
@@sagardesai5278 Thank you so much Sagar! Working on creating more :) We are currently in Berlin and creating a little Berlin series, but also we have a few adventures already filmed ready to be edited like bicycle touring in Vietnam and winter camping in Canda :) Stay tuned!
@@Karamintheworld can't wait to see the cycle touring series! Goals!
Beautiful scenic shots
Witty banter
An endearing love story subplot
And a cliffhanger ending!!
This episode really has it all 😍 great job you two, can’t wait for next week
Also, can Elena narrate my life? K thanks
Wow what a comment! Thank you Jess :) Elena and I's skills are very complimentary I think. She's funny, I film, She writes, I shoot!
If you write a script to your life, she'll narrate ;)
Too late now, since it’s January and more than a year later but....you can’t wash dishes in the lake. And you should never use soap directly into the lake. The soapy water should be dumped well back into the forest where it can be filtered through the soil.
Same is true of toothpaste. Spit it out back in the woods.
Great videos so far. Looking forward to the rest.
Hi James, thank you for the advice! We will definitely be doing that on our next trip (and wish we'd been more careful with that at the time!). This is the case when using biodegradable soaps such as campsuds and such too I presume? We tried to only use soap once a week or so if something got too greasy and otherwise just washed with water but I did not know that it must always be disposed of way back in the woods! Thanks again for watching :)
Yes even with the so called biodegradable soaps. They still contain chemicals that can be harmful. The thing with anything termed biodegradable organisms that will do the bio-degrading.
Love the videos so far. Looking forward to seeing the rest of the trip.
Something got cut there. I was trying to say that in order for the soaps to biodegrade there has to be micro organisms to do the degrading. They don’t exist in the water in sufficient numbers. They are plentiful in the soils and will filter the soaps out. Just make sure it’s well back from the lake and not on rocks, into the soil. Occasionally takes a good look to find a good spot in Algonquin with all the rocky terrain.
Please don't use biodegradable soap in the lake!! It's only biodegradable in the earth, not water.
Hi Kate, we know that now, but unfortunately did not at the time.. lesson learned! Thank you for the advice and feedback, we made a big mistake with that
