    Does having expectations set you up for failure or success? How does mindset affect your productivity? How far can you push the limits of your physical body? And have you ever tried to go hitchhiking with a canoe? These are all questions we asked ourselves on this week's episode of our canoe camping trip.
    These few days were an exercise in resilience, both mental and physical. We learned how to push our limits, but more importantly when to stop and listen to our bodies. Follow along to watch us hit absolutely rock-bottom.
    We are Karam and Elena.
    This is the 4th video in our Algonquin series, recounting our 3 week canoe trip across Algonquin Park, Canada in the fall of 2019. This was our first portage trip, and as you will soon find out, neither one of us really knew what we were doing. Our route started and ended at Opeongo, stretching up to Brent then back down. This video will take us from Cedar Lake to Philip’s.

    Too much online stuff shows all happiness and rainbows. Your documentation of the low points, the psychological barriers, is refreshingly real!

      Thank you! I honestly think it's cause we were just real with each other and how we were feeling that this was the footage we captured :) I wouldn't have it any other way!

    Thank you for making an old man happy and bringing back my memories. I was young when I canoed the lakes of Algonquin back in the 70's.

      Thank you so much! Totally agree with you, learning happens outside the comfort zone and honestly as hard as these few days were, they were probably the most memorable of the trip.
      Thank again :)

    That was an ambitious trip for your first backcountry trip! And you keep saying you didn't know what you were doing, but it sure looked like you did! It is indeed hard work, but you did it!!!! You are a great team and have such perseverance! Way to keep laughing through it all, that was key! :D Power to you both!!

    Not sure what it means that I am laughing so hard during the very moments when you guys were the most dramatic! I imagine while you still remember Day 13 perhaps it's seen more as a great achievement now compared to the pain and suffering you likely felt on the day you did it. Great story telling!

    • @Karamintheworld
      @Karamintheworld  Před 3 lety +1

      wow so glad that our suffering is entertaining you hahaha no but for real honestly the complaining and hardships is all part of it that we enjoyed capturing. We were so delirious on that day, as hazy as it was it's one that's imprinted in our minds the most.
      Thanks for the compliments :) Looking forward to editing the last one!

    great series!
    Too bad we still don't know the mystery of how to find the portage on the Little Madawaska or the road to the campsite. I've crossed Radiant twice before while on other trips (once was Francis to Cedar and the other time was Cedar to Francis). Have never paddled that route to Philip's. I should try it someday. Will be prepared for a long walk, just in case! :)

    • @Karamintheworld
      @Karamintheworld  Před 3 lety

      Honestly if we'd been less tired we probably would have found it but we were not in the right state to be trusted in finding small portage paths 😂 Please let us know how your attempt goes!
