  • A cedar tree that’s over 600 years old has fallen in Vancouver’s Stanley Park. One local tree tour guide says he’s worried about how these trees will survive summer droughts like this one in future years. Angela Bower has the story.

If a tree falls in the forest and no one hears it, does it make any noise?

      Do screaming advocates count?
The last bit sums it up, they don't grow that big anymore, and that is for a reason that the Trees have figured out. It's not us, that one was 800 years old, and one of the last, they did not show a dense forest of them, it was one Oak wondering why the Maples can't be happy in their shade.
I thought it was in Toronto, City News, ?wheres Stanley park, that's HUGE, it looks like a BC tree..... oh it is BC.,

There's a giant redwood in Thetford, England the Vikings brought back from California. Patrick Henry was from there. He famously said give me liberty or give me smallpox.

Why do people think trees live forever? Just think about it.

Hopefully, the park considers removing it as a potential added fire risk ... it is now on its way to dust that will spread in the wind making everything around it more flammable as well. I would rather it stayed and was a note to see on any map, but biology and safety should come before tourism

I'm sure someone wants that wood, a 800 year old tree, the furniture made will be very profitable. Guitar Bodies and Necks.... Seems to be just the base is corked out.

@@streamofconsciousness5826 good thoughts, but if you watch the video you will see that the tree has been dead for decades and it had core rot or heart rot ( which caused it to fall ) so it's unworkable to create any woodwork with it. Which is why I suggested cleaning it up for fire risk mitigation 👌

The tree waited for the Europeans to leave. They didn't so it fell over.
