The ban only affects people who follow the law. The vast majority of guns in the hands of criminals are smuggled from the United States. Even the police aren’t supportive of such bans because they know licensed firearms owners are statistically the least likely group to commit crimes of any kind.

If historically anti-gun legacy media outlets like CityNews are running stories like these that run contrary to the Liberal narrative and showing the other side of the argument, you know they either see the writing on the wall or are hedging their bets.

Every cop I know says the law has made 0 difference in anything and simply costed Canadians millions in taxpayer money which could have been better used to 1) hire more police officers 2) hire more border officers and 3) tighten up security at the border and increase jail time for offences related to firearms, mandatory minimum sentences need to be brought back. 80-95% of shootings are happening with illegal guns which were smuggled from across the border. They almost always trace back to the United States or are ghost guns which are printed.

Every single expert in this field including police and CFO’s in each province have stated there’s over whelming evidence that the vast majority of gun related crimes and murders are linked to guns from black markets / street sales. The liberals were told this when they reached out for their knowledge on the subject. They were specifically told “no gun crimes / murders are not related to legal gun owners in Canada. In fact when they are, it’s extremely rare.” However, the liberals went ahead with their bill anyway because like most liberals they aren’t setting out to make changes that make sense but ones that are emotionally based and divide people to split the vote. There’s a large number of Canadians who are ignorant to all of these facts and they are marketing themselves to those individuals. The good news is the liberals will be out of power soon and these younger generations will not forget this time. I feel they will be out of power for a very long time.

This seems to me like a big waste of time. Why have these demonstrations along a major artery in Calgary, when this sort of thing should be taken directly to the reservations istead? Wouldn't it make all the sense to protest in the areas where these crimes against idigenous women actually happen? I can't posibly be the only one to remember the RCMP's national inquiry into MMIW where the findings were that an astounding three quarters or more of these women are murdered within their communities, by people in their own acquaintance circle. If these indigenous activits and women really want to make a difference, they really should focus their efforts a lot closer to home, as regular Canadians are not the ones endangering them. Instead this has to be turned into some political nonsense.

Yes but if you look at the stats between 1980 and 2014most of these women are killed by indigenous people. Only 8 % were done by strangers. So perhaps First Nations should look at themselves to solve their issues.
