Plan to turn Stanley Park's former polar bear enclosure into a sauna

A Vancouver architectural firm wants to turn the former polar bear enclosure in Stanley Park into a Scandinavian-style sauna. The area where the caged bears used to roam and swim has been vacant for 26 years and is the only visible remnant of the Vancouver Zoo that formerly occupied the site.

What a great idea. Turning something old, cold and weathered into something meant to revitalize and restore is everything saunas are supposed to be. As a local sauna company these types of projects are certainly exciting.

Its in a nature park ,rip everything outta there & turn it back to the natural environment it used to be ,trees & grass ,make it like it was b4 the zoo ,just another part of the nature on the trail

Im not in favour for these animals were in this pit for decades there should be a memorial statue for Tuk and his three siblings with a garden tell me do you really want a scandi spa and swimming in plunge pool where these creatures suffered there whole life in capitivity it makes my heart hurt i wish people would wake up
