Hard agree. I have been listening to it non stop. The opening line “Do you want to go to the river? I know a spot deep and green. Where the wild raspberries and apple trees. And rocks to climb between” hit me like a bus. I immediately thought of some place so beautiful I was able to live for a while - western Massachusetts. But it can mean all kinds of places for any listener. When I first heard that opening I was transferred back to that beautiful place. I reflected on the complicated relationships and life circumstances that are no longer.

I like how the album cover's blurriness makes it look like you're seeing a picture with teary eyes it's also emphasized with Adrianne's eyes glistening in the photo.
Free treasure and fool being the tracks that missed favorite tracks is wild but I’m so glad he loved it as a whole

i wonder why she thinks that. i would take almost any song’s lyrics or instrumentation from either abysskiss or songs over evol. its just pretty vapid in comparison
Personally I would say the opposite is true. Feels like an angsty teenager writing 'real eyes realize real lies' in their notebook.
@@tallky agree wholeheartedly. it honestly feels a little trite to me, and the novelty of the wordplay gets old fast. im sure there's depth there im not picking up on but it doesn't feel like a song that's really communicating something clear and sincere - just too vague and elusive in meaning

The way the chorus on Ruined never melodically resolves is such a genius idea, because the tension of the track somehow grows each time she sings it. Amazing album
Surprised the lyrics on Evol weren’t brought up. Some of her best, and there’s some crazy wordplay, with her pronouncing words backwards in a way that sounds like she’s saying new words. If there was any debate that she’s a lyrical genius, that song ended it

What I loved to e most was how the first track does such a great job of introducing this album, so intimate and familiar an invitation while also managing to let you know what you’re in for.

I've heard this album and of course I love it. The first time I played it, I had to pause after Real House and collect my thoughts. This song is so moving, it brought tears to my eyes. Thanks for your thoughts, Anthony.
i love recently released albums such as a moon shaped pool and blonde
becoming obsessed with live recordings of these songs in the last year makes it so hard for me to enjoy this album. sadness as a gift and ruined especially, they are haunting and vulnerable and addicting
Even though i'm the kind of person that has never really cared for lyrically driven music.
Adrianne is one of the few people that has made me see the light when it comes to what good lyricism can do to a song.

I do enjoy Mr. Fantano shitting on bad music but it’s much more enjoyable to watch him sing the praises of something. He’s always got a really clear way of articulating why something is good. Keep up the good work!!
