Ok, I get that people really didn't want another Fire Emblem Swordsman in smash, but if people could at least acknowledge how hilarious this edit of the pivotal scene in Three Houses is, that would be nice.
Honestly I think the voice actress does a great Job in making Sothis sound different unlike Kyubei which sounds exactly like Morgana. And that is pretty funny considering how different the personalities of those two are.
Basically all fire emblem additions have been blatant advertisements for their games. I'll only ever respect Marth and Roy for being the OGs. Otherwise I could honestly schleep on the rest zzzzzzzz
The “too many swordsmen” argument is actually really dumb though. How many characters in the game fight with their bare fists? Besides, for the most part, every sword fighter in the game has a totally unique move set; Link doesn’t play like Cloud, Hero doesn’t play like Shulk, etc. I have not and never will understand the “too many sword fighters” argument. It’s one thing to be hung up on FE oversaturation, which is itself kinda dumb, but whining just because a character has a sword is ridiculous.

Cause while swordfighters *tend* to be more derivative than fist fighters or zoners, Byleth is more like, uhhh...a Link, mixed with a Joker, mixed with a Belmont? Point is, it's way harder to point at Byleth and say "hey that move is just like that other sword fighter's move."

I'd actually say that even though Three Houses is fastest selling Fire Emblem to date, it still isn't a hugely popular series as a whole, yet Smash is saturated with these relatively unknown (in the west) sword and sorcery characters. I doubt very many people who downvoted the video actually hate Fire Emblem, but just aren't interested in playing it, or know who the characters even are. Why would you be excited for a character who looks like other characters you've already seen, from a game you know nothing about, and don't want to know anything about?

Three Houses deserves a rep lmao. It's the most financially successful Fire Emblem Game, very well received both critically and among the fan bases (it united the Fire Emblem fanbase of all things together in positivity, something thought to be impossible after Fates), and won the Players Voice Award at the game awards.

Then why is it that every new fire emblem character we get now is an avatar or main character and not some character that is in one of the fire emblem games that maybe not everyone knows about. Not to mention the FE characters almost all have the same pose for the counter, and most fire emblem characters all have a counter (except robin, whose moveset actually makes him unique at least). And why is it that with the exception of roy, all of the hair colors match, with robin and corrin (both from the same smash game) being the only ones of their kind.
@Koria Borein Well Lucina has green hair when you change the, I guess you could say, character color. Not to mention Byleth's color change from what I've seen comes from some strange fusion with Sothis after a time skip. The green hair color is not natural in any way. And if it was, that should have been the hair color in the trailer. Sakurai, (I think that's how you spell it) I'm pretty sure has also proclaimed his love for FE, it really isn't much of a secret, so it is just shown as a power flex whenever he announces FE characters. And as far as the counter goes, the original argument here is that the character should he fun to play as, and not recognizable (I feel Byleth is very recognizable) How is any character fun to play as if all the moves are the same as the other characters in the series, because from the reveal trailer I swear I also saw Marth's (or should I say everyone's, because I think you would get the same message) side B. Link is a special exception to this rule, but both of his variants not only took very little time to make, but they were also not revealed for something people have been waiting a long time for. Not to mention these slight variants have been known since melee, and the reason for their existence is known; to provide a quick and easy to make character. Byleth might have been ok if put in the original game or early dlc, but as the final dlc to something people have been somewhat patient about, it just feels cheap, and without much thought put into it.

The best part of getting into the Fire Emblem series recently is that now I’m actually glad he’s in the game. If I don’t play a characters game, it’s hard for me to take interest. Never picked any Fire Emblem character, but once I gave Shadow Dragon a chance on Switch, now I like to play Marth. Once I gave Three Houses a chance and enjoyed it just as much, I was interested in playing Byelth. Times are good

Looking back at this trailer after playing 3 Houses it is very funny to me how Byleth gets invided to smash at this VERY specific point in the original game's story Also funny how despite Solon being here he doesn't actually appear as a spirit or anything in ultimate
Theres two major reasons why a character is decided for smash... One to advertise a game in the switch library Or to advertise a very high profile character.

I’m pretty happy to be honest has an okay move set and the edge of dawn is a great song. Byleth was also a pretty cool character in fire emblem three houses. Just because it’s from the game with the most fighters doesn’t mean it’s bad.
Eh..byleth was an awful character objectively... The player character behaves like a strange robot with zero thoughts or emotions for the most part aside from opening it's mouth if something surprised it... Lol
Guys. This character is not that bad. Yeah, it’s another Fire Emblem rep with mostly 3rd party reps. But still, the stage is nice, the music is a great addition, and Byleth is fun to play as (in my opinion). This could have been so much worse.
Unpopular opinion, (no one jump me please) but I honestly thought Three Houses was overrated as hell. I jumped straight back to Final Fantasy 12 and DMC5 after dedicating 40 hours to that game. Although, Blue Lions ftw.
We got Banjo Kazooie so I wasn't going to crap on any following characters. Personally I could have done without another fire emblem character as I don't care about that franchise in the slightest but I guess it must be really popular some where. I do really like Snake swords.

It's the most financially successful Fire Emblem Game, very well received both critically and among the fan bases (it united the Fire Emblem fanbase of all things together in positivity, something thought to be impossible after Fates), and won the Players Voice Award at the game awards.

Then why is it that every new fire emblem character we get now is an avatar or main character and not some character that is in one of the fire emblem games that maybe not everyone knows about. Not to mention the FE characters almost all have the same pose for the counter, and most fire emblem characters all have a counter (except robin, whose moveset actually makes him unique at least). And why is it that with the exception of roy, all of the hair colors match, with robin and corrin (both from the same smash game) being the only ones of their kind.

Not to mention Byleth's color change from what I've seen comes from some strange fusion with Sothis after a time skip. The green hair color is not natural in any way. And if it was, that should have been the hair color in the trailer. Sakurai, (I think that's how you spell it) I'm pretty sure has also proclaimed his love for FE, it really isn't much of a secret, so it is just shown as a power flex whenever he announces FE characters. And as far as the counter goes, the original argument here is that the character should he fun to play as, and not recognizable (I feel Byleth is very recognizable) How is any character fun to play as if all the moves are the same as the other characters in the series, because from the reveal trailer I swear I also saw Marth's (or should I say everyone's, because I think you would get the same message) side B. Link is a special exception to this rule, but both of his variants not only took very little time to make, but they were also not revealed for something people have been waiting a long time for. Not to mention these slight variants have been known since melee, and the reason for their existence is known; to provide a quick and easy to make character. Byleth might have been ok if put in the original game or early dlc, but as the final dlc to something people have been somewhat patient about, it just feels cheap, and without much thought put into it.

The best part of getting into the Fire Emblem series recently is that now I’m actually glad he’s in the game. If I don’t play a characters game, it’s hard for me to take interest. Never picked any Fire Emblem character, but once I gave Shadow Dragon a chance on Switch, now I like to play Marth. Once I gave Three Houses a chance and enjoyed it just as much, I was interested in playing Byelth. Times are good
