I have no idea of the dynamics that kept Betts from playing many minutes for Stanford, other than the obvious that Brink was already there. Maybe It was a minutes played issue (

UConn lost because of Geno. Betts clearly had trouble when Amari from UConn was put in game. Lauren wasn’t as confident leading me to wonder how she will do against bigs with actual size. Geno didn’t keep DeBerry in long enough. I don’t see Betts being that effective against the bigs of SC.
UCLA was red hot from the 3 point line so it made sense why Lauren was kicking it out. I wish she was more aggressive but there was a reason for it.
I criticized Genos coaching a week ago and a lot of people defended his choices. I think people are seeing now that what he’s doing isn’t going to work this year.

Well, 11 points tonight, but she didn't need to be the star. I'm still waiting for Betts to start having those games she's capable of.
I only got to watch a highlight video of the game. It seemed UConn would double Lauren a lot, and then she would kick it out and they would eventually get an open perimeter shot. Then some possessions she was covered single coverage and she scored. One play she powered through the double team of Brady and Edwards and got an and-1. I would like to see her be more aggressive like that play.
I thought her size impacted Edwards. Edwards shot poorly, but she was probably exhausted was matching up with Betts. Kind of like her running out of gas last year against ND.
There was a play where she had Brady beat if she went up with her left and did a hook shot. Instead she did an up-and-under to her right hand, shot a wildly off shot, got her own rebound and was fouled by Paige. Brady wasnt contesting the left handed hook. I think she needs to her left hand more against bigger posts. She uses her left when she can use the backboard. She had her beat on the positioning and footwork, she just needs to make one strong, decisive move.
She is, but had an off game against UConn tonight.
That was very weird game. I definitely wouldn’t have expected Kiki Rice to be the leading rebounder on both teams, or for Betts to only attempt 7 shots. But she did do a good job defending Edwards.
@@maxpower247 - It's what happens. Nobody believed Caitlin Clark could go 2-16 3s. UConn has to replace the scoring and rebounding of Lou and Dorka, also the loss of Azzi and Caroline, temporarily and developfour Freshmen. Check on how they are doing in January.
