(and yes she has done an album era with all of those)

Lmaooo why was I gonna say this too, she’s the queen of pop for a reason. She’s transcended past just an 80s artist. Most of her best work came from 90s and after that. She’s every decade.

Why does Jaxon think it's stupid that Madonna is on this list. You do know being a good artist usually entails having longevity that allows you to be chart toppers in various decades. Beyonce is technically a 90s artist as Destiny's Child first breakthrough hits were in 1997, but here she is today, still making music and still being relevant. Metallica, Madonna, U2, Timbaland etc are all musicians my parents listened to in the 80s/90s and who were all still releasing music by the time I was growing up in the 2000s.
He thinks that because he's uninformed. Now if you put her put her on a 00's list that would be stupid despite her hits during that period. Although i can't stand her, Madonna was about as big in the early 90's as she was in the 80's.

In all fairness there are lots of people who some who manage to make this mistake particularly if they were born/grew up in the 2000s as most boybands/regular bands still had/have a poppy vibe/look or sound to their songs, it's not really a surprise to learn that they don't know the difference between say Linkin Park and One Direction.

Again, I love jaxon and his mom, they have a great dynamic but I REALLY appreciated the mom for putting him in his place at the end. She is right, they are not on the same level and he needs to respect that. I have a totally different opinion. If swearwords are bad, they're equally bad when the young or the old, men or women, supervisors or employees use them. Especially if someone is using swearwords in a conversation/argument with me, I can 100% use them back. Also, the belief that parents are simply superior because, Idk, "that's the way it is"/"because I say so" is harmful to their children future selves. That way they are taught submissiveness and quiet bitterness even in situations they should stand for their rights and well-being in relationships and workplace. Not to mention how humiliating it is in front of the camera. Imagine being a teacher, a CEO, a priest, a police officer, a soldier, a politician etc. and having something like this on yourself on the internet forever - your mom literally showing with her hands that you are inferior just because. Guh!

@@LaMortDeLaMusique Yup, and the label tried to royally screw them. It was either right before or after Dizzy Up The Girl they sued Metal Blade to start making some money. Imagine doing that well and not seeing a penny. It's no wonder artists started moving towards releasing their own stuff.

I think so. One of them said they don't listen to 90s music and I feel like the music from that time isn't being played as much sadly.
I grew up in the 90s also and i'd happily pick almost any genre of music that was before 2010s (god it's terrible now lol).

I didn't. I mean, being born in 77, I heard 60s and 70s music on the radio when I was a kid, but I'm not familiar with artist/band/album/song names of anything before like 1980. When I was in high school I was only listening to new music (90s). So it's not just kids nowadays, I think most people are primarily into the music that was new when they were kids and teens and young twenties.
That's what I was thinking. 🤨 I'm an 80's baby (grew up in the 90s), but some of my favorite music comes from the 50's, 60's and 70's.

In all fairness to the kids in this video, Smashmouth, Sugar Ray, Goo Goo Dolls, and Hootie and the Blowfish weren't exactly megastars with lots of hit. More like 15 minutes of fame with small, niche fanbases. Not that any of them are bad, just naming them or their songs is tough unless you were alive in the 90s

I am partly disappointed in these young people because they don’t know Shaina Twain and now Madonna!!! I love them both and I can name 5-10 songs of both of theirs...grew up listening to her. I’m 22 and honestly I’m glad my parents brought me up on them two!

I can understand that they didn't know Shania Twain really because she is know for what 3 massive hits that get a load of air play and then everything else kinda gets ignored.
