    Watching this video just helped my mindset a lot! I just did a little pattern making job for a designer (who didn't have enough technical knowledge), she didn't understand and was frustrated when the patterns didn't work out on first try. Turns out it was due to my not having enough specs and not going over my work enough, I've definitely learned my lesson!!!

I'm on the engineering and business side but I would love to understand how you source and vet suppliers from raw materials/textiles and manufacturing. Like what types of things do you look for? Also would love to understand the start-up side of things meaning if a person was to start a clothing line (super general question, sorry) what average costs would they incur from conception through manufacturing? Trying to put my current knowledge in medical device business in a different perspective. Would love to learn from you.

So bear with me, to get all these details what will a potential client or designer give the tech pack designer. Will I be provided with any info from the client to help prepare the tech pack or what?. Also u mentioned something about measuring on the specifications sheet. Where will I get the garment to measure if it's not been made yet. Or I just decide. I'm completely lost. I wish there a course for this. I'd gladly enroll.

    Hi Zoe,you are amazing. Very explicit explanations. I have a question please when this prototype are being made, does one need to have a model for fitting on standby or a mannequin could suffice just fine? How does a perfect sizing works for a garment?

    • @zoehongteaches
      @zoehongteaches  Před 5 lety

      Dress forms are no replacement for a fit model, who can move and sit and give you feedback. Perfect sizing boils down to addressing your specific customer's needs.

    • @zoehongteaches

      Tech pack drawings are flats. You add wrinkles that are part of the design. If your design has gathers, draw the gathers. For example, if you're doing a smooth t-shirt flat, don't add wrinkles or drape lines.
