Dany giving up the Iron Throne is the only ending I can accept for her character. I simply cannot put into words how fucking amazing this is and how in tears I am. Thank you, truly.
I think it’ll happen in the books too she’ll give up her throne to fight against the others and save the world
There’s a couple of things that are a little corny or awkward but overall I really like it. People aren’t passing around the idiot ball like it’s hot potato, cool things happen for actual reasons and not just because it’d look cool on screen, Jaime doesn’t throw away all of his character development. This is now my canon.

Varys got the last laugh and did his service to the realm by ending a chaotic power hungry monster
It's also very in character from what I remember. Vary always cared about the realm. Probably the only politician in the whole show that was arguably fighting for the people... even if he too wasn't even close to perfect, and was very 'ends justify the means' in his approach.

@@lelouchvibritannia8997 True book wise, we don’t know what happened and honestly she could still show herself a good ruler. Though this video can kind of be seen as repairing what was damaged in the tv series, to me this is a true ending to the tv series and everything about it just connects perfectly. It honestly makes sense to me that Dany just wanted to go home and that her desire was warped because of Viserys and all the shit she endured.
Definitely a grander and far more action-packed and true-to-character storyline than we got from Dumb & Dumber.

Cut to interior, Horn Hill. We hear a woman calling out, “Little Sam! Go fetch Daddy for supper!”
“Yes, Mama!” he calls back. Little Sam, now a strapping man grown, opens the door of an office. An old man is hunched over a desk strewn with papers, books, and scrolls.

I honestly love the idea of all the Lannister siblings losing what defines them. Jaime loses his sword hand, Cersei loses her children, and Tyrion loses his tongue
The only problem I'd have with that is that we as an audience wouldn't get his wit anymore. But then again, that was gone by season 8 anyway

And this ending he created... dragons breathing fire at the ice wall and the bard singing... a song of ice and fire... we've come full circle and all of the loose ends have been tied, character arcs complete. What a perfect way to end the series. I mean I have no words. 10/10, stellar work! This should be viewed as true canon somehow.

I didn't expect a suicidal Theon to become comic relief but it's probably my favourite part.

And the comparison between Jamie, the Hound, and Theon expressing different ways to deal with guilt also adds value to his character.
I love that it ironically made him the ironborn ideal, a relentless killing machine, but he isn't doing it for gloryhunting, he is doing it out of guilt

I love the emphasis on the people in the story who actually PLAY the game. The whole point of the show from the first season isn’t about who’s the strongest or the best fighter, it’s about who plays the game the best.

I think one of Tywin's sons should turn out to be the Mad King's son but not Tyrion. It should be Jaime, the irony that Tyrion is Tywin's only biological son.

Well, it adds to the sad irony of Tywin's all-consuming desire for legacy & position; in the books, Jaime's conversation with GhostMom when he's tripping, as a result of his injury, I think (it's been a hot minute since I read them) kind of feels like it would naturally be pulled in that direction - she says what Tywin's always wanted (since the days when their family was thought weak, under his father):
For his house to be powerful & feared, for Jaime to be a great knight, & for Cersei to be queen- Jaime says all of that has happened, but Joanna just gives this heart-breaking smile; she knows that _despite_ getting what they wanted, they are essentially ruined, because of everything that's happened to achieve all of it - House Lannister *is* powerful & feared, *_but_* also hated & despised: despite Tywin's work to distance himself from Elia & the kids' deaths & blame it all on Lorch & the Mountain - despite distancing himself from the Red Wedding, letting the Freys & Boltons take the dubious 'honour' - no one's fooled: neither the individuals, nor the houses' lords would have taken those actions without his say-so.
Jaime technically _is_ a great knight, but not only is he bound to the Kingsguard (like the Nights' Watch, no wife- no kids)- he *also* has the disgrace of kingslaying attached to him. Even his greatest act (saving Kingslanding) is tainted by what he had to do, in order to do it- & no one knows.
Cersei's queen, but she's quite possibly the worst personality to have any kind of power; reckless & biased in the extreme- favouring a psychotic-in-the-making that she had next-to-no control over (in the books, he died pretty young- though he still did incalculable damage, & she still thinks him faultless- unlike ShowCersei, which kind of undermines her failings as a mother, imo - ShowJoffrey felt to me more like a projection of BookJoffrey; what he _might_ have become if he lived a bit longer)- & neglecting & then manipulating a sweet-natured boy, when _he_ came into power- to preserve her own authority for a bit longer. Gods alone knows how she managed to avoid tainting Tommen & Myrcella.
Cersei's a jealous*, arrogant, power-hungry fool who's so greedy & reckless that she will treat subordinates like crap, & allies like threats (even family- see: Kevan Lannister)- she only wants people who will do what she says, rather than what is best- & endorse her point of view, being completely oblivious to the fact that she's alienating the few supporters she has left. If they question her, or fail her (regardless of whether an action was her idea or not)- then they're nothing to her, & she won't hesitate to throw them under the proverbial bus, to buy herself good will, or a bit more time - she's so short-sighted that she will take instant gratification/ a perceived immediate 'win', over a bit of hard work & compromise- despite the fact that she's opening herself up to much larger problems...
Tyrion being Tywin's only legitimate child makes his treatment of him (& his ultimate fate at Tyrion's hands) all the more ironic.
*I genuinely believe accidentally, or deliberately- BookCersei will be responsible for Myrcella's death (as part of her paranoia regarding the 'younger queen' part of the _valonqaar_ prophecy)

I had tears a few times man, especially during Theon's end. I would absolutely watch a 10 hour version of this with Voice Actors, a Narrator, and some simple black and white art.

Theon was an awful person! He had children and civilians murdered in order to torment the Starks. Never-did-anything Bran cryptically telling Theon, "You're a good man" was mawkish BS!
If the book is written like this, it would take 7 more books.

I would’ve never been against more seasons for a better drawn out story, nor would I be against more books for the same reason. We could see more characters, new characters, everyone could be more involved, etc etc…. Plus it gives me more things to do on my days off lol. Reading and watching tv shows/movies
The whole part with Varys and Littlefinger scheming against each other was so entertaining.

Devastatingly depressed and suicidal Theon having sudden, impenetrable plot armor is a stroke of dark comedic *genius* but also a brilliant way to develop his character
His wailing after the ice dragon just dies robbing him of his deepest wish actually made me tear up. I wish we'd gotten this because the actor could have pulled it off beautifully
i got insane chills through my whole body during the mad king "burn them all" reveal and also when jaime was rallying the troops and saving kings landing, becoming the hero of the people, the person we knew he was.
and then i cried in the scene when sansa sang to and forgave theon. it was perfect for both of their journeys and so beautiful after everything they went through together.
overall, i wasn't expecting to get so emotional watching this video. i think you did an incredible job. now i feel a part of me has been healed (and i mean that sincerely). you gave me closure on something that had been bothering me for close to five years. i thank you from the bottom of my heart

The "burn them all" reveal actually gave me chills man. It's so good and it's also really satisfying after the "hodor" future messing with the past thing that didn't go anywhere in the actual show. Also that detail of Sansa singing to Theon was everything I needed. Instead of the dumb "femininity is weakness so she has to go all badass" thing, she grows from doing things like singing in a childish, naive manner to using it and her gentleness to comfort someone in deep pain. That's the Sansa I wanted to see. Great job!

So good, I wish this is how the real series wrapped up. Cersei being killed by Jamie is what should've happened. Theon's quest for death gives him more to do. The dynamic between Jon and Danny seems more organic than it did in the show. I both love and hate the idea of Tyrion losing his tongue though. Littlefinger actually getting all the way to the tippy top of the game of thrones only to be hit with his own hubris would've been much more satisfying then whatever dumbshit they pulled with him in Winterfell. I also like the connections with the NightKing and Bram just not sitting around like a zombie himself.

Damn, that was actually pretty sick. I wished they'd put in even half of the heart and effort this guy put into the writing of the last couple seasons
The only major thing I disagree with is Tyrion is a secret Targaryen, not because it cheapens how special Jon is, but because a) it makes zero sense timeline wise for Joanna to have been impregnated by a Targaryen. But more importantly it cheapens Tyrions story line. His father hates him, is disgusted by him, and the irony of it all is that Tyrion was the most like him, and if Tyrion wasn’t a dwarf he would have been a perfect heir to Tywin. Tyrion being a secret Targaryen vindicates his father in treating him like a monster because then he was right, then Tyrion really wasn’t his son. So personally I prefer making Jon a bit op in this case.
Further, I think Tywin was disgusted by Tyrion even more BECAUSE he was the perfect heir - except for his being a dwarf. If had been bodily like Jamie I think Tywin would have praised his wife for her sacrifice in giving him the perfect son rather than blaming Tywin for her death.

I think its *much* more meaningful to have Dany allied with two dragons, all the power in her hands,--- and still choosing to walk away. THAT is acceptable. The Tyrion theory does not have a lot of water when you hold the timeline like you said. Its just a reason for Tywin to hate Tyrion, and to add spicy rumors to their family.
Actually the timeline for Tyrion to be Targaryen is spot-on. Joanna was at KL in 272 at a Tourney - Tyrion born 273 -we don't have months, but it could easily be 9 months apart. Further, something happened that made Tywin so angry that he tried to resign as Hand, but Aerys refused. I absolutely understand the statement that it cheapens Tyrion's story - I don't necessarily agree, but I get the sentiment. I think it just changes his story personally.

Hole in that plot tho. Tyrion is literate. He was shown in the earlier seasons to be an avid reader. He can just write down his thoughts even without a tongue. Takes longer but not useless by itself.
It could happen in the books. In the books Tyrion is a villain who pushes for death and destruction and more than 1 person has remarked about removing Tyrion's tongue so-if they are ever finished-it may happen.

Yep it's very fitting for Theon. Reiner is kinda like Theon in some traits.
In contrast to how sad and betrayed I felt by D&D’s endings of just about every character, your positive and hopeful ending actually really worked for me! And Thank you for writing to Dany’s character in the same way I perceived her in the books. And for making Jon a character again at all, let alone one that rivals Cregan Stark! But by far my favorite thing you added was how Petyr won AND lost the game, also gave Varys the perfect end too.
I really love the magical elements of these books the most, like the wargs, the direwolves, Azor Ahai, Euron, and the special bond Dany has with her Dragons. I realize you wrote this as an ending to the tv adaptation and not the books here, so omitting a lot of that stuff (namely Euron) definitely makes sense! I could nitpick of course, there were some continuity errors with some established magic/the faceless men etc. but honestly there were so many good pay offs for me that I just feel satisfied overall. Great work!

legit got chills during the Red Priest sacrifice into Azor Ahai into Jon's speech rousing the remnants of an army out of the ashes sequence. Fulfilling prophecy, completing character arcs with *purpose*, all whilst looking fucking cool as shit. THAT'S how you end a multimillion dollar TV show. That's how you earn and keep the title - greatest of all time.
While I emphatically concur. it'd be a miracle for Hollywood to adjust the pace and take it's time to appropriately land that millions-dollar season per year hurtling comet of actors and licenses, nightmares and contracts. Even though it'd have been worth the cost to do it right, they did have a mission impossible to do it in.

Thank you for bring back to form the constant twist and betrayals and using ALL the main characters to progress the story. Theon's Plot armor is still unbeaten. this is some shibari level tying of loose knots made by dumb and dumber.... Also this is the most positive of the alternate endings i've seen written so far.
Its nice to have a version where previously shown to be clever characters get to use their wits and motivations make sense.
I think Aryas part feels fan ficcy, but I dont mind assassin deranged arya tbh.
Also wearing her kids faces is fuxking DARK 😂

Bran realising the Night King simply wanting to go home but being driven mad by Bloodraven's meddling in the past would've legit been such a good plot point

I love that the one piece of information that gave Varys the edge over Baelish was only gotten while he was out in the thick of the conflict, which is the opposite of how Baelish operates.
Peter likes to light a firebomb, though it at the window and leave. Varys likes to get inside, set up accelerants and then light it
I had to come back to this video to comment after thinking about it a bit. It must have taken A LOT of time and thought to put this together, so bravo!! Not everything aligns with how I'm hoping things will end, but it's was all dynamic and satisfying, so I'm happy :) I don't think the ending is "too happy" given how many people had to die for it to happen. Oh, and the "Burn them all" reveal was just fantastic.
Ah, the sweet moment you realize the title isn't a clickbait :) Really great ending, best of it is how this is now how I remember GOT. It wonderfully washed away my bad memory. Only thing I'd say is that from time to time, it wasn't clear we were suddenly in a dialogue and who was speaking. Great nonetheless, thanks a lot! :)
Fellow writer here. This was sooooo much better than the disaster they created. I especially liked what you did with John’s character. Dani’s too. And… well, all of the main characters. It’s amazing what one can create if they merely understand and follow character motivation. A+.

I’ve watched so many alternative endings (in an effort to relieve my pain 🥲) and Danny building her own kingdom is my f*cking favoriteee! I’d 1000% rather her building her own than ruling over ashes. It is so good I’m gaslighting myself into thinking this is what I actually watched for season 7 and 8.

It's kind of funny because I can just imigine all the free folk, who refuse to be ruled over by a monarch and call everyone who lives south of the wall standing there like: "Am I a joke to you".
If you think Danny isn’t evil, you actually were not watching/reading the show. Shes going to go crazy and be killed. Her ending is the ending of evil nobility.
I agree with you, Dani was definetly going on the wrong side on several moment before season 6 and could be quite cruel and evil. And the plot was always reminding us that through "she's the daughter of the mad king blabla", but that's what I didn't like in the end of season 8. Her going "crazy" is too fast and weird. Like, I get that she burns armies to the ground bc she's always doing that as she sees them as oppressors, but I don't understand the burning of Kings landing part. She never burnt citizens before, and now she's burning an entire city? I don't know, it doesn't seem logical. But to me the worst part is her killed by her lover, too much of a Greek tragedy to me. I would have like an ending were she realizes she's actually going mad and a dragon is far too dangerous, and decides either to kill herself, either to go back on the other continent to never be seen again 🤔

Yeah it’s very impressive especially with how well the first seasons were written. He even got the dialogue between characters right.

Wow so this is what happens when a writer cares about buildup and payoff, making plot points and character arcs meaningful and taking the time to tell a complete story.. excellent job. I actually feel more at peace now with the show than I have since s8. Wonderfully done

I might have finally be thankful for my memory failing me. I don't even remember season 8, aside form some parts shown in this video.... but now? Now I can bookmark this, and enjoy the whole series properly... without the last two seasons being.... wrong? yea.... without the Wrong that was introduced into our Universe.
I'll come back in 5 more years.... after I forget the whole thing... and enjoy it again :)!
This was amazing, absolutely perfect how everything came together at the end and all the plot lines are wrapped up so nicely. I had goosebumps at the song of ice and fire ending 😮
God testing Jon to see if he could bond with one of Dany's dragons to prove he's a Targaryen as a political move would've been SO cool. It was kinda dumb that Dany was just like "nobody knows how to ride a dragon until they ride a dragon" and then Jon just hops on Rhaegal.
lol the fact that people genuinely think a lot of things that happened in season 8 will end like that in the books is hilarious since George genuinely cares about the characters and D&D doesn’t really care about the world
Dan and Dave should be ashamed, even with the guidance of GRRM they ruined the last season. What a brilliant ending. Smashed it
George left after season 4 they went to him for help during the show and he told them key things that will happen such as bran being king , Hodors death and reveal , and princess shireens death
That's why there was a noticeable decline in the quality of the show after season 4. It just got surprisingly worse and worse each season after that. Which suggests that GRRM's behind the scenes work on the show (beyond writing the books) drove its success, which Dave and Dan took the credit for. They're not good writers or showrunners. @@ACinemafanatic

Giving the Night King that backstory of wanting to go home and tying it to Daenerys' character development is genius.
This is obviously much, much better than the crap D&D threw together.

The way that you made that "burn them all" phrase into a full circle is honestly just masterful. Even when I was expecting it and have known about it, the way you unfolded the events held so much tension and uncertainty. The same thing goes with "chaos is a ladder" and Varys' and Littlefinger's fate. It is so perfect.
As an aspiring writer, this is some of the best re-writes I've seen, and my only complaint is that I will never see this happen on screen.
Absolutely phenomenal. This is the best thing ever! They way you meticulously ensured to utilize each character, little finger and the spider dying due to deception but for different reasons, Arya and Sandor with being burned and their revenge path, Tyrion and Jamie losing their iconic traits, John and Danny’s story perfectly woven about ice and fire! Damn man so good, wish this was the real ending! Thanks man this will be my own ending from now on lol

Even just 20 minutes in, and this is such a brilliant rewrite. Writing Jon as an actual character with a brain and the will to play the Game of Thrones for once is something that should've been a no-brainer.
he basically turned Jon into Uhtred of Bebbanburg from the Last Kingdom.
seriously if you watch that series you get serious Jon snow vibes from him but a Jon Snow who isn't a complete dumbass and is actually tactically smart and is very VERY good at the game of thrones. (the political warring)
The line where Tyrion blows up at Jaime for getting mad about killing Tywin was brilliantly written, I can totally imagine seeing it in the show (season 4 even)

Man this is so beautifully crafted you can tell your love for the characters and their lost development in the series. I've watched this so late but my God was this a great ending. Im sure Geroge himself is impressed with your ending.
The fixes to Jon alone are just magnificent, I had such an issue with how he was handled in the last two seasons. He was brought back to life to serve no purpose and had no consequence.
He is still dead in the books. No telling how he will return.

The Littlefinger twist around 1:28:00 is perfection, and Arya's ending actually made me cry. I'd like to imagine that Varys plan for Daenerys & Jon to fall in love actually happens, but not in the way the show did it, in the way this video did it.
The way ‘Chaos is Ladder’ came full circle and Petyr’s plans have turned on him was so incredible. He believed he had it all planned out but all he did was give the Night King more numbers.
How on Earth did you craft an ending for Dany that was so infinitely better than what we got or what I've seen dozens of people theorize?

Kinda agree, but somehow it makes the utopian ending much more satisfying. After all the grim and pessimistic story, we finally see some light and peace. At least for a time.

Theon not being able to kill himself and ending up doing very heroic things reminds me of purple heart winners thinking their already dead/going to die and doing whatever they can to save others

No it doesn’t. You guys only likes this because dany lives but this rewrite totally ignore the madness that was there back when she killed the slavers. People just refuse to acknowledge it because she was killing bad people but the madness was developing then. Yes I agree the last season was rushed and it could’ve benefited from at least one more season but people need to stop pretending that Danys madness came out of nowhere

@@godsfavhitman5814her 'just going mad' is an insult to her complex character. Good story telling is displaying a character's wants against their needs. That was one of the best things done in GOT when the writing was good. Every character was fighting for their wants whether it was for their honour or just doing the right thing which conflicted with their needs which kept them alive. For Danny, becoming the mad queen was neither a want or a need. It's a disappointment for the culmination of her character and the story as a whole. Doesn't matter if it was foreshadowed, it's still shit writing.

One thing about Aryas story:
It relies heavily on her changing faces to people who are alive, but that's not how the magic of the Faceless Men has been shown.
They cut the faces of the dead, and magically wear them as masks.
It's not a huge leap, though, and would still fit with her story.

can (within the lore in the tv show) certainly play it like that's more of a limitation placed by the oaths/norms of the faceless men and their training, rather than a true law of the ability itself. By leaving and abandoning her morals as well as her oaths, Arya uses this power in a way that makes her incredibly strong and unrestrained, but eats away at her sense of self, stability, morality, and seduces her further from these things.
In the House of Black and White, the man who may not be Jaqen H'gar wears Arya's face while she is alive. Maybe she has to reach that level.
The Lannisters do have a lot of cousins so it wouldn't be out of the realm of possibility for Arya to have killed a relative who looked like Jamie, especially in Cerci's weakened mental state.

I like this ending simply because it doesn't give you the same old wheel of despair,
but rather built's the road towards hope that had never been there.
Hope is a much better way to end. Gives the possibility of another series.
