I’ve only listened to the opening rant so far, but I have to say, I disagree that Eren lost nuance as a character in the original ending (anime-wise, at least). I think he’s fascinating with the entire series in mind, and I think there’s a very satisfying amount of interpretation to be made with his ending that doesn’t contradict what came before.

I have the overwhelming urge to make a rewrite of this show with your ideas (and others i've gathered from videos like these, with credit ofc). My idea is to focus more on the fact the school seems to really like to put their students in danger, so me and my friend decided the entire city is just, very dangerous! The two country girls (Sage and Rosemary) enter the big ol' city and there's death in the streets (high stakes babyyy). Also, def should be more focus on the rot, it should have ore focus than it does, haha.

For the record I still come back to this video from time to time because it really woke me up to the reality of how many complex interwoven parts of the human psychosocial experience fit into explaining a truly hypercritical analysis of why these "internet activists" consistently engaged in behavior well and truly against their own seeming personal principles and beliefs. It's evolved into a whole chapter of my philosophical musings (I'll probably want to share with you liberty boi), but in a sense the fact is you have to be hypercritical. Paraphrasing an idea in excerpt are the following three axioms of a human being's social identity. This is really confusing and hard to follow with WAY too many exposition dumps, I’m sure it does more service to the characters than the actual finale did, but as a finale it would have been unsatisfying as fuck. P.S. Eren would never fight Mikasa at the end, that’s very out of character.

By thinking Eren is the hero of the story I think you're are misunderstanding the story. The story is supposedly told by Armin who didn't want to throw Eren under the bus, he could've easily told it to make himself the protagonist but he didn't. AoT is not like any other story.

In the last panel, eren could drop a tear from his right eye. Then, a final birds eye view to the new world, then end. so that it could be quite the same way he cried after he dreamt in the first episode in season 1.

my biggest complaint about the ending is that in the scene where they're fighting all the old versions of the nine titans there's not that many beast titans. Where's the line of animals running at hour gang from the 3rd opening? Where's the whale titan? Where's the spider titan? Where's the t-rex titan?

This was absolutely masterful! I'm gonna be honest, I've been braindead the last few days but I think I picked up enough so bear with me I have always been a supporter of a complete rumbling, it makes so much narrative sense, why do the rumbling if you're not going to go through with it. Personally, I love how Eren laughed in a psychotic relief then showed that the fast colossals have destroyed the world *WHICH WAS FUCKING FORESHADOWED MIND YOU!* Was something I absolutely loved. Another thing about this before I move on, the image of Eren pointing with fucked up hair and bloodshot eyes on the attack titan's shoulder has been burned into my imagination forever when I think of Attack on Titan now. AND THEN The twist of Ymir destroying paradis was fucking horrifying, realizing that nothing was left just about destroyed me. After all of this, the fight, the deaths, the hatred... Mikasa becoming the founder was something I didn't expect but it makes so much sense, all of the headaches have finally been answered in a satisfying way. And with all of this, the 100% rumbling, Ymir destroying paradis, Eren killing Hange, Connie, and Reiner Every last moment of this was exactly what I wanted. Then Mikasa becoming the founder and the mindfuck that followed, along with the fact that Historia is still alive, all of this... Attack On Titan going full End of Eva with a tiny bit of AoT like hope is my personal peak fiction. Yeah, one of my favorite story endings is End of Evangelion, the overall story is pretty good, but end of eva is incredible. And yes yes, I know that the term 'peak fiction' is way overused but for me, Attack on Titan with a hopeful but beyond fucked up EOE type ending *really is the best story that I think could ever be told* Thank you Thank you for making this

This is so good it makes me even more disappointed and hurt with the actual ending lol. Eren was my biggest problem with the ending we got, I really hated how badly he was retconned and reduced to something that ironically felt very lacking in nuance or understanding. And of course him dying is the worst part of the ending imo, I always felt like he was the most important character in the story so if Isayama had at least given him a proper ending I could have tolerated the rest. Sadly that didn't happen though, but I feel like you did a great job at keeping the essence of all parts of his character and developing them, and providing proper closure. It's very much bittersweet, but the characters all got proper conclusions. Aside from Eren I especially liked what you did with Reiner, Zeke, Armin and Annie. Also, the idea of making the Rumbling arc an "everyone loses" situation is actually so much more fitting for the story compared to the Marvel-esque plot of the final arc. Seeing all of them devolve and try to kill eachother after everything's been lost was surprisingly compelling and really reminded me of what it felt like watching the anime in the earlier seasons. That idea of splitting up the Alliance and having Armin actually wrestle with something (that was already perfectly set up in earlier seasons) was cool. It's so much more nuanced, reasonable and more in line with the themes of the story (especially the post-timeskip story) that I wonder how Isayama even managed to screw everything up so badly. Ending AOT with a hopeful yet bittersweet ending was always what I was hoping for, so I'm glad to see a good version of that even if it's not "real" or official. If we're lucky, maybe Isayama will release his original vision sometime in the future but given how he's somehow said both that 139 is his original vision and that it isn't, I'm not sure how likely that is. Anyways, thank you for making this!

I appreciate the work you done, but as a person who works with media and human perception a lot, I would say that this is too complicated and convoluted for the ending imo. Multiple more and more world ending twists just blend together into one giant “and then a bunch of stuff happens” and constant “main point” switching (even very throughout one!) is hurts more than adds imo. I understand that your goal was to tight up all loose ends and, again you did very well on that, but as an outcome your ending version became too unclear and fuzzy. I would say it’s just like in cooking you just can’t mix up together a bunch of fine by itself ingredients in exact proportions and have a great meal.

Idc, Dany and Jon should’ve had a baby and lived a fairy tale happily ever after 😂 they went through it… especially dany. I did enjoy this more than the ending of the real show

This was amazing from start to finish. A true masterpiece in characterization and how character growth can be used to influence the plot. That all being said: Hey, what the fuck? I started screaming part way through without even noticing. I think I have PTSD. I enjoyed getting it, but that is definitely stress in the disorder.

43:00 I Think that during all seasons Dorne was left out of the equation playing I minor role at the "Game of Thrones" and didn´t even participate to defeat the death. Been so powerful and rich it didn't make sense to me. So Imagine this instead: While been "Hand of the Queen", Littlefinger releases Ellaria Sand from captivity, forges an alliance with Dorne and promise she could have Jamie´s head as long as she supports his claim to the throne (even could also make her his Queen after) Dornish then will be his secret weapon to defeat whatever is left (of the death or the living) after the siege of King´s Landing. Dornish marches north and wait a few miles south of kings landing for the signal. At the end Littlefinger´s plan all goes to shit as you propose, Littlefinger underestimated the number of white walkers therefore the Dornish would never make it on time to the Red Keep on time to secure the castle and save him. Even after the wild fire explotion the battle seems lost there are simply not enough men to defeat the remaining white walkers but the Dornish join the battle surrounding the Night King and giving Jon Snow (now Azhor Ahai) a chance to finally kill him. Meanwhile Ellaria and a group of elite soldiers rushes to kill Jaime so he and Brienne and Arya fight together. EPIC fight but eventually Brienne has to make a choice either she saves Jaime or Arya they both are about to die. Brienne manages to save both but dies doing so. Arya kills Ellaria Sand and Jaime while holding Brienne´s body tells Arya to escape before the Dornish finds out. So Arya runs to the ship that was waiting for Bronn as Brienne wanted to in the first place.

Another thing that would make this trilogy better would be to have more new designs of spaceships and stuff. Wouldn't it be nicer if disney didn't just reuse OT spaceships and stormtroopers but make them look slightly different? How about we got newer, unique, never before seen ships instead? I remember seeing another video that talks about this perfectly.

I enjoyed this more than the original ending, but a couple things I didn’t like: -Arya’s fall from grace. Like yeah she was a bit too badass in the original but did you have to do her dirty like that? -Theon Greyjoy reminds me of that guy in the Rock’s Hercules movie who keeps predicting his own death but just can’t die due to sheer luck. Like WHY is his plot armor so thick??? -Littlefinger was alive for too long. He should’ve been killed long ago.

This rewrite was decent and better than the canon except for the Erehisu part with Eren marrying Historia having peaceful life with his family. Maybe Historia finds someelse to love that isn't a former chilhood bully or Eren. That's giving him too much. Never found Eren and Historia's relationship romantic like Eren and Mikasa's. Idc if Eren's is the father, I feel like he deserves to live alone in guilt for the rest of his life.

Since all the weirdos of the Aot fanbase latched onto JJK its really refreshing to look back and reanalyse AoT critically again. Lord forbid noone could voice their own opinion for this series without being bombarded by their hive mind.
