- AMD's Radeon RX 7900 GRE slots neatly between the RX 7900 XT and RX 7800 XT in terms of performance. But here's the kicker-it's now available worldwide! Originally a China-exclusive limited edition, the Golden Rabbit Edition (GRE) celebrates the Chinese year of the rabbit. AMD wasn't about to let NVIDIA steal the spotlight, especially after their January 2024 refresh with the RTX 40-series. The RX 7900 GRE is here to deliver good performance at competitive pricing. We're making a detailed comparison of six cards from highly popular vendors, to find out which one is the best.

I was hoping to see how the PowerColor Fighter version of the 7900 GRE ranks. It seems to be one of the two GREs that will fit in the new DeepCool CH160 itx case.
Thanks for review & comparison. Highlights necessary info.
I appreciate all the work you put into this testing. Thank you. I did find your charts a little hard to follow.
Great Video! Can you add the PowerColor Red Devil as well to the equation? That would be really awesome!
Glad you added the vsync section, interesting to see the performance in lighter loads
On the page it was written about erratic behavior in the pulse fans. Has this been resolved or is it still the same?
Need the XFXs card please !
Would love to see the XFX 7900 GRE in the comparison.
Appearance aside, it seems to me the base Pulse model makes most sense as the performance gains of the others seems negligeable for the money?
Have the pulse variant dont Hear the card even at full load
Great video! Clears a lots of confusions. Can u please also do a same vid for 7900 xt. I'll be buying this week and need to choose between gre and xt. I wanna see if the price of xt is worth it and which models offer at least decent oc, cuz i see that gre nitro+ oc is very close to 7900 xt non oc
The 7900XT is about 18% higher performance for around 25% more money. So pretty similar in value.
The difference really comes down to budget.
@@libertyprime9307 18% than 7900 gre base or the Nitro+ oc?
@@the_mystic_ghost4148 The stock settings.
I mean you can probably overclock any GRE to perform almost like a 7900XT, but then you could also overclock the 7900XT too, so I wouldn't think the performance difference as a percentage would really change much.
@@libertyprime9307 i finally bought a 7900 xt
I want to upgrade but i have a 650 w psu it is gold rated, should i but this card?
Thanks for the video…..I was about to purchase Sapphire Pure 7900 gre
Thanks for the comparison! I already got a 4070tiS because of cyberpunk but if I didn't need a PT capable card this would be my go-to. Insanely good performance for the money now that they unlocked memory OC as well.
Mind if I ask which 4070tiS you went with? Have you had any issues?
@@megadeth8592 I have the MSI Expert, beautiful card with good OC potential. Runs cool and quiet but it's a bit pricey, if you want something closer to MSRP then the Gigabyte Gaming OC and MSI Gaming x slim are both great.
you're incredibly dumb for picking a card for a single meme feature
So if choosing a GRE... consider width, length, weight and noise before performance.
And some people still believe the Nitro+ is the best variant of the 7900 GRE/7800 XT. The Hellhound is the king 👑
What a shame there is no XFX model in this comparison
Anyone that knows about the XFX card, would you take it over the pulse? I like the aesthetic more on the XFX but I can’t find anything on temps or noise
We haven't tested the XFX variants yet, but based on the 7800 XT it should be a bit better than the Pulse though you may benefit from tuning the fan curve czcams.com/video/qNtX4rByAKg/video.html
Please compare Asrock Challenger Radeon RX 7900 GRE too.
In my area this one is the cheapest but its a 2 fan version and other versions of 7900 gre have 3 fans so im confused.
Which card it can be compared to in your video?
And should i buy it?
3 fan design is always better for cooling and performance. If the 2 fan design is under 500$ then you got a good deal. If not, I would stick to 3 fan design.
@@Devotchka101 thanks buddy I'll consider the 3 fan design
@@technicalplayer8393sapphire pulse are usually cheaper and its 3 fans
@@technicalplayer8393sapphire pulse is usually cheap and its 3 fan
I have the 7900 GRE Pulse and I love it!!
Thinking of buying it. How is the RGB on it?
@@Abdullah-cb4np This GPU doesnt have RGB
@@Rami.R9 is there any coil whine?
@@jonscriffignano I don't have coil whine on my GPU
@@Rami.R9 Cool how’s the temps?? Kinda deciding between pulse and XFX
i have cooler master 750watt mwe 80+ gold version 1 bought in 2018, i put 7900xt and when i enter a game, in 5 min pc shuts down itself
Never knew TPU had a CZcams channel. I thought pogzel was maintaining his own channel just for mouse reviews

Thank you
This series of videos are the last stop station when someone decides by that lineup
I like them. Nice video ❤
Love the Sapphire Pure
Building a new pc for myself, mostly gaming, productivity, and maybe a little dabbling into Game Development.
I am getting Base 4070 (Zotac Trinity) and 7900 GRE (Sapphire Pulse) for similar prices. ~$650/-
With Nvidia, I'll have better ray tracing and DLSS performance but with AMD I will have a faster GPU and 4GBs of extra VRAM.
Which one to choose?
PS: I am pairing it with the i5 14500.
Would only pick 4070 if ur doing blender and is significantly better in other workstation and other than that the 7900 gre beats it
The 4070 series isn't any RT powerhouse, being brought to its knees in any of the titles that have much RT to speak of, and that isn't what these two GPUs are for, no matter what anyone might try to tell you. As far as upscaling, one is ugly, the other one is a little uglier.
If you are looking for real RT performance you are in the wrong $ bracket. You will need to spend almost double the money.
So im building a al white PC.
Which brand is better, I've got 2 options for full white 7900 RGE's.
- ASRock Radeon RX 7900 GRE Steel Legend
- Sapphire PURE AMD Radeon RX 7900 GRE
Pulse its cheap and good quality. Bascially a master of none.
@@TheToeSlayerOfJohns I didnt mention Pulse, that was the black one.
I went with the PURE one, couldn't be more happier
So the best and all rounder is the hellhound?
Yes or pure what ever u can get cheaper
The only difference will be the silicon lottery on the chips and the cooler performance from the vendors.
Where's XFX? You can't do a Radeon roundup without all three members of Radeon's Holy Trinity and that means Powercolor, Sapphire and XFX. ASRock WOULD have been added to make a Holy Quartet but they lose that honour because they also make ARC cards. I say this as the owner of an ASRock Radeon RX 7900 XTX Phantom Gaming OC so I'm not being biased.
ASUS and Gigabyte also make GeForce cards so they're just... meh. As for MSi... who cares?
The brands of video cards that I flatly refuse to buy:
MSi, EVGA, Palit, Zotac, Colorful, ASUS, PNY, Inno3D and Gainward.
Anything else is just fine.
What's wrong with MSI and Inno3D? Other than their MSRP models they make solid cards. Same with Colorful though I don't know as much about them since they sell only in asia.
@@anitaremenarova6662 nothing, probably some personal issue with those brands
@@anitaremenarova6662 tbf, MSI's new cards have not been that good. The MSRP models perform at the very bottom of the charts and premium ones are overpriced.
PowerColor coolers are insanely good
I have the GRE hellhound and it does quite well cooling wise for sure.
seems strange they test coolers with what I assume is stock tunes. if so a worthless test for many
@@hotdog9262 they test at specific power draw and noise on all models, so it's perfectly fair
@@GoonyMclinuxHello , wanna ask if u have had any problems with drivers and if it have any sort of coil whine?

1 like mate excelent work
if possible made video test this GPU + gigabyte gre gaming oc
so all all company + gygabyte gre oc
on test to call of duty + warzone and OBS streaming
big thanks in advance
I have the Pulse because the Nitro is out of stock everywhere.
I git the pure I'm down a white build
U didn't add gigabyte
Gigabyte RX 7900 GRE/7800 XT are loud asf compared to the Hellhound or the Nitro+
I have the gigabyte 7900 gre and I can confirm that it’s fans run at really high rpms. I’m talking 4000 rpms. It’s loud but it does run very cool even when overclocked.
@@timmyalley6621 thanks, power color hellhound is the better version..tho lately its 580
@@justeddm also I think the gigabyte has a quiet bios, I’m going to have to test that and see how it does
You picked all the cards with terrible warranties.
