    Also, I wish they'd dump the linear bearing and go to a copolymer bearing. I use them on my linear rod systems (panel saw, router sled, etc), and there's no rotating ball bearing or oil/grease needed. AND you do not need to worry about sawdust/debris build up.
    I'd love to take every miter saw, pull their best features, and build them into 1 single supersaw. Lol.

    Great video. If I may though. When you tilt the blade and check with the angle finder you have to make sure the angle finder is directly in the middle of the blade. If it rotates even the slightest forward or backward it will throw the measurement off. At 90 degrees it doesn’t matter where the angle finder sits on the blade. I only say anything because I don’t want people to think that Makita did not calibrate the saw good. My guess is it was within a .10 degree of accurate at all angles. Thanks!

    Correction, this isn't LS004 in europe, but LS003!
    The LS004 is the 10 inch mitre saw.

    I've been trying to find the differences between the 37v and 40v versions! Thanks so much. I have 18v stuff already but I am wondering if I should start my 40v collection with this, to spend the extra (I need a battery and a charger) to get some minor improvements seems a little silly 😁

  • @bret9741
    @bret9741 Před rokem +1

    Wish Makita would consider making this saw 20 lbs lighter. I’d pay a lot more for less weight. I’m guessing they could shed weight using composite materials and using machines aluminum with structural shape that is stronger than cast aluminum.

    • @4thewinak
      @4thewinak  Před rokem +1

      They make an 8-1/2 version with similar cross cut capacity. Obviously cut up against the Fence vertical is a different story.
      They probably think that’s the one for people who are going for portability

    Check the angle of the fence.
    Can it be calibrated? Because I've seen a lot of Makita SCMS fences that are not at 90... and they couldn't be adjusted/calibrated. So I'm curious if they ever fixed that.

      The saw can be calibrated. I just calibrated my little 8 1/4".
      It's done the same way

    • @carterscustomrods
      @carterscustomrods Před rokem +1

      @Aaron O'Connor (I'm not sure about the 8-¼".. ) we're you able to calibrate the fence though? Their corded a and 36v model 12" , the fence could not be calibrated and they were almost always 88°-89°. It's a notorious issue that makita has ignored for years.
      I'd take a square to shows. At the makita booth, the reps would be so uncomfortable and say nothing when we'd bring it up. I was hoping they made the fence base properly for the xgt, but I'm yet to see it up close.

    I just got this experience onsite that makita saws tend to fall apart over time, where as dewalt just stays together and keeps on going.
    My main observation was when I was working in a frame and truss prenail plant, makitas fell apart, went out of square, blade guards fell off, plastic mitre adjustment you mentioned falls out. Dewalt on the other hand just goes and goes. Both models were corded.
    Just my 2c.

    That LED light button on the Makita is a poorly thought-out design. It's far too cumbersome to press a membrane button. The LED switch should have been a momentary flip switch like that found on Milwaukee's 7.25" cordless saw. It's very easy to activate the LED switch on the Milwaukee saw.

      Thats a bummer. I got the new 12” dewalt 60v thats pretty loud but much lighter than this saw. I have the Milwaukee and the light switch os really easy to engage. I just noticed the dewalts I really habe to press down hard. Minor but actually kinda majorly annoying
