- My old Hatteras made it back down to Miami for the 2024 season! In this video, my friends from New Hampshire fly in for a week of Florida Keys Cruising on my boat! After months of hard work and problem solving, It's nice to spend a week hanging out with friends, enjoying the beautiful weather and all of the time and money spent on this old boat! All the hours of pain staking work you put into Bella is really paying off. You made a 1500 mile month long voyage with no major snags! Eathan did an amazing job too. I cannot imagine single handing an old sportfish that was largely un tested and without autopilot. WOW.

GOD I wish I was 25ish again and hanging with the likes of Gus, I miss my buddies from those days, an at 67 cannot replicate the sense of unrestrained adventure no holds barred.
I will be 68 on 5/29 & was just feeling that rite along with U. 44 yrs went by in a flash ,wen I would hear my Elders say how time flys by, I think they were try to get me to listen to them closely but @the sametime not trying to scare me. I sure don't think old but my body & the cracks on my face have been telling another story

It's honestly amazing to watch this. I spent a fair amount of time in and around the Keys during my undergrad, but I haven't been back in atleast a decade. It's such a beautiful, remarkable place. You never really forget that water.
Watching yall step off your own yacht onto your own tender, in that perfect clear water, I literally had to pause the video and stop to think about how amazing that would be. To have the freedom to explore that place, in that way, at your age? It is nothing short of extraordinary. No work is too hard for a reward so great.

Part two of my comment. Great trip to Keys. You need to go to Key West and Dry Tortugas when practicable. Also Bahamas is a must. Bimini, the Berry Islands, Nassau, Abaco’s perfect cruising grounds for Bella Rose. Great video Gus! Made my day.

Gus you have been doing a great job on the Hatteras, It takes time and money to make the needed repairs that may have been neglected by the former owner. And plus with time things needs to be replaced. If I ever buy an old Hatteras I will call you Gus to work on it. You will tell me its yours now deal with it. I really think that is the best way to go now that you own the boat learn the boat and make the repairs that needs to be done to keep it running. Been enjoying your video on the work done to the Hatteras thanks for sharing all of it. Keep on Yachting...
I saw you had spent about $5,000 to get it running properly but if I may asked what did you pay for the boat? You may have mentioned it but I missed it. Oh and your girlfriend should stay with you full time unless she has a great job because she really is your partner in crime... Plus she cute too! I have had boats my whole life boat safety is the number one thing to me and I don't believe that you should be drinking while you're underway
I totaly agree with you but im not a hypocrite as in my younger years i made poor decisions on my boat but i have realized people have to learn from experience what made me realize I would never operate my boat after drinks was making the wrong turn at 70 mph into a cove of people on their boats luckily didnt hit any body shut it down idled thru dropped anchor and didn't move till next day a navigation mistake made me a better boater and ultimately a better person once again I agree with you but people have to learn hopefully before any one gets hurt its all about experiences in life I know you have had an experience that lead you to being a better person and hopefully a better boater
