When I think of Sara Bareilles, I think of the beautiful performance she gave at the Oscar's In Memoriam a few years ago. She sang "Smile." I tear up everytime I hear that song!! Such a beautiful voice.
Sara is incredible. Saw her in concert in 2019, and she was funny, charming, , and her singing is wonderful.
Asia & BJ, you’ll love her “Brave” and “Love Song”!!! Any Sara Bareilles song is an excellent song!!!
and Vegas, and King of Anything, and Uncharted...
This is one of the best covers I've ever heard. The arrangement is *flawless* and incredibly subtle. It's a masterpiece. Incidentally, I think it really helps to be familiar with Elton John's original to appreciate what a great reinterpretation this is, as you do - although it's great in its own right.
You should check out Sara's song called Gravity, absolutely beautiful
I almost forgot about her….this girl can sing!
You're so right BJ. She made it her own. She's switched the opening part into a minor key, which, along with that high 5th interval riding through the quiet parts, is so haunting. It's so spare and soft, and it draws the audience in. It's mesmerizing. Thank you, guys, for reacting to this.
Wow you guys have got to check out the video of this. If you type her name and yellow brick road into CZcams search, at least for me it's always the very first result. It's exactly the same performance only you can see her playing the piano and singing it and you can see the audience reaction plus there's a bit longer thing at the end where she stands up and says goodbye again and and they follow her down backstage for maybe 5 or 10 seconds and it's just really cool. You can see how that ending is amazing when she draws that out and then Waits until the perfect moment to hit that last chord on the piano. And when she sings that stunning 14-second extended phrase in the middle, you hear it slightly on the audio, but what you see is her doing it and then you can also see the audience spontaneously starting to applaud because it's just so impressive and then she keeps going even after that. It's just so cool you've got to see it.
One thing I read about this is that the songwriter for Elton john, Bernie talpin, generally tried to write songs specifically for Elton John and while he knew that this would be a good song for elton, apparently it is one of the very few that he wrote more about himself. And he himself was more that kind of guy that came from the country and then hit the big time and then kind of got disillusioned with it. It's a magical song and I love how she arranges the beginning and the ending on the piano. It's just so pulled back and it camps on the same note over and over and you don't get to hear the full regular chords of it until she really gets into it. And then she resolves it back to that at the end, just so Stark and simple. I've probably seen this 20 times now in the last month and I can't get enough.
Steve. 💯 to everything you said. Hope they watch the video at some point.
This is from one of her live shows, and she's mesmerizing to watch, just an amazing talent.
Sara can sing! Just love "Gravity" "Love Song" and so many others. Very talented young lady. Hoping you guys have great Fourth and as always stay safe and I love you!
Sara sang this song at an Elton John fundraiser event and he was very impressed. He said that this is not an easy song and Sara made it her own and that it is one of the best covers of this song he ever heard. Sara is incredibly talented. She wrote the score for the B'way musical The Waitress. Please react to Morissette sing She Used To Be Mine from that musical.
actually he said it was such a brilliant cover, another one never needs to be made
After hearing this Elton John said that he never had to sing the song again. And than he was cool enough to show at one of tour events to make it a spectacular show full of duets.
She is soooooooooooooooooooooooooooo goooooooooooooooooooooooooood
I'm so glad to see people discovering her lesser known work more and more! She is one of a kind and I love seeing people enjoy her uniqueness
I love how when Sara hits a certain tone, Asia lights up.
Check out Sara Bareilles singing a cover of the Laura Nyro classic Stony End at the 2012 Rock And Roll Hall of Fame!
it is top notch!
She covers it brilliantly. Way better than Streisand
She does a concert that she does all the songs from waitresses. She used to be mine was the most famous of the songs. But the entire concert is just amazing
“Orpheus” by Sara is also really beautiful
Glad to see someone finally reacting to this one! She has some great songs and live stuff to check out too.
she is fantastic! seen her in concert a few times early in her career! she did Laura Nyros "stoney end" total justice!
There’s live video of her performing this Elton John classic. It brings me to tears every time. “ Gravity” is a huge hit of hers.
Gravity is my favorite song by this wonderful artist.
Love your reaction to this song! Asia you have a fantastic voice girl :)
💞🤟🏻🎶🎧🎹🎙 Y'all!! I miss you!! I love this cover of "Goodbye, Yellow Brick Road," as did Sir Elton John himself. Check out her duet with Jason Mraz called "You Matter To Me." Simple & beautiful. P.L.U.R.R. from ATX!
Watch “She used to be mine”. Plenty of live version of her song. Amazing artist.
A good cover that Sara made her own. Hard to cover such an iconic song by an iconic artist as Elton John. Many that fall in love with the original don't like covers that are different.
The video is great!
Wonderful cover performance and reaction! Please consider reacting to Sarah's "I Choose You" when the next Valentine's Day rolls around. It's a beautiful heart-warming love song!
No idea how I missed seeing this reaction. Fantastic! And yeah, if you go back and watch live Live video of this, it’s amazing. Much love, Asia and BJ❤️🤠🤓
She also does an unbelievable cover of counting Crows "Sullivan street". You should probably react to the original first. Thanks for another great reaction
You gotta react to Sara and Elton singing together if you havent already!!
Puhlease checkout The Pretty Reckless “25”. Taylor has such a different and amazing voice. I really think you’ll both dig it.
She’s amazing. Check out love song
Sorry, but I'm gonna need Asia do a full cover of Love Song--beautiful voice!
Please do me the biggest favor and listen to Yola’s cover of this song, even if you don’t react to it. Sara is amazing but Yola puts so much soul into it that in my humble opinion it surpasses any cover of this song.
Gotta do Gravity. Her best
Sheela Na Gig by PJ Harvey please
Asia, you could cover these Songs and be Rich.
Interesting version but I prefer Elton’s version.
