I saw the show Waitress in the West End (London) this song was in that. It was so good. I was crying along with the actress playing the part.

She played the main character from the musical.
I saw her perform this song live on Broadway in September of 2021… I was in tears by the end of it. She wrote all the songs for the musical (Waitress) that it comes from.
I gotcha, Asia. I literally haven't listened to this song in years bc I'm not into breaking my own heart. But hearing again after all this time? I'd be hard pressed to vocalize a damned thing without turning into a blubbering mess.

This is definitely my favorite but all of the song Sara wrote for the broadway musical were great, it is such a good soundtrack and she was incredible in the actual show singing them.

When I saw the name Sara Bareilles, I had to watch y'all's video.
I first heard her singing "Stoney End" for Laura Nero's induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
She really did a magical show of honoring Laura Nero.

I heard this song for the first time when it was performed at the Tony Awards several years ago. I VERY unexpectedly burst into bewildered tears. It felt like a gut punch of a song describing all the adult women I knew in my life. My mother, my grandmothers, my aunties, this was them and their pain and it was my greatest fear as a result. The fear of being stuck and watching your past and hopeful future violently and uncontrollably divert as a result of an unplanned pregnancy or an unstable relationship.
This song always makes me cry espically when I sing it I sob my eyes out great reaction y’all this whole chunk I relate to so much

That would make a great double feature -- first, the original movie that the musical is based on, then the musical itself. I first saw the musical on stage a few years ago then impatiently waited for a movie version -- which I saw in the theater. Deserves to be watched often.
