When Sara Bareilles signed up to write the music and lyrics for the Broadway musical Waitress in 2013, she had no idea it would change her life. The show - which tells the story of a pregnant, pie-baking waitress - became a smash hit, it saw Bareilles nominated for both Tony and Grammy awards. I too loved this performance, & had not heard of Shoshana Bean.
This song is so emotional for me. The "she" she's referring to is the younger version of herself. In the musical, the main character is a pregnant waitress who's trying to escape her abusive husband and this number comes near the end of the show. It always makes me cry no matter who sings it.
Shoshanna emotes so beautifully in EVERY song that she sings. This one give me chills every time. Sara Barielles wrote this particular song for the Broadway play, “Waitress”, however, Shoshana does write her own music. “All To Me” is an original of hers that is amazing. Well worth the listen. Also, like others have mentioned, “Make It Rain” is and ABSOLUTE must!!!
Since you loved this, it is essential that you check out her performance of “Make it Rain” live at the theater at Ace Hotel. You will be awestruck at the end and in disbelief at what you saw and heard.
Love this! Whether or not you react to it (ha, tho I'm subscribing in hopes that you might!) you HAVE to check our her singing "Make it Rain" at the Ace Hotel. It starts slow and soulful and then by the end she is literally possessed...one of the wildest live performances I've ever seen, & I can tell from this reaction that you'd appreciate it! :) Her original music is incredible as well!
I recommend Shoshana Bean and Cynthia Erivo singing I did something bad by Taylor Swift. I love their version so much. I come back to it over and over again.
Great reaction, man. Besides the Make It Rain live at the Ace Hotel (which could melt your brain--you've been warned), check out her work with Post Modern Jukebox: I Want It That Way, Stone Cold, Sorry, Tomorrow, etc.
Shoshanna is unbelievably amazing whether covering songs or singing her own compositions. Her cover of "I Wanna Dance With Somebody" will blow your mind.
She’s simply awesome! Having said that, I have heard several different people sing this song, & all of them are great, but none are better than this one!❤
In this song Shoshana shows her exceptional talent, both in voice and emotional story telling. I have watched this over and over and never grow tired of it. The other performance that you MUST see is Make It Rain, live at the Ace Hotel, backed by orchestra. It is breathtaking. I absolutely promise you will love it. It is more bluesy.
The Queen Bean! Not only is she one of the best technical singers I've heard, she will tell you a story with every song she sings. She becomes the song and it is magnificent to watch.
"make it rain" live at the theater at the ace hotel, as many others have suggested, but also PLZ check out her collaborations with the epic avery wilson! her recent live rendition of her original song "all to me" with him was divine.
Whether you choose it as a reaction or not, definitely treat yourself to the "Playbill" version of "Stars and the Moon". Her ability to drop into a character and pull you in with her is unparalleled. PS: You are super fun to watch, especially when your uber articulate self is at a loss for words!!!
MrLboyd, first time reactor; thank you for your heart-felt reaction! Yes, excellent performance by Shoshana, very intense, powerful emotions! She had some pitch and tone issues with her vocals, voice cracked a couple of times, and she is a bit too 'theatrical'; just use strong, powerful vocals and the emotional message hits like a sledgehammer! That being said, the best version of this, by far, is Lucy Thomas putting out an absolute masterpiece! She takes the word, 'empathy', to a whole new level! Within the first 10 seconds of her performance, Lucy steps right into this waitress, faults and all, and we feel what she feels........her vocals accentuate these lyrics perfectly, just a beautiful vibrato to bring out those lyrics and the intense tone she sings at.........just incredible!
Thank you for reacting to this. I’ve seen the Broadway show twice and it’s amazing. They use a rotation of main characters with Her being one of them. She also sings with Postmodern Jukebox
Imagine not knowing the lady of the ICONIC Shoshana Bean and all that her voice can do... I pity the people who haven't heard her. Seeing her live in Wicked when I was 15 was life changing. Please react to more of her
She is amazing! I do have to say that my favorite renedention is by Alison Luff. Alison really gets into the character and her emotion is unbelievable . Check it out and see what you think?
This is the song in the show “Waitress” that she sings right after her husband finds her personal savings that she was going to use to leave and he takes it for himself. Very emotional and raw storytelling 🥺🥺🥺
Shoshana - for me - is the best artist for this role from all time. She is totally my favorite. She sang in the play, yes. You guys need to watch she singing in the theater. Please react to her live version in the stage. ❤
Amazing anytime but to hear it in context within the full show of "Waitress " is an incredible emotional musical experience. Can't possibly give enough credit to Sara Bareilles for creating this and all of the very special women that can perform it.
Please react to Shoshana singing “Make It Rain” Live at the Ace Hotel. You said you can’t wait to react to her again? Well, we’re still waiting for that too. Lol I think you’re great.
She is an amazing Broadway performer. The songbis from Waitress and the lyrics make more since if you have ever seen the show. Sara Bareilles wrote the songs for the show. Make it rain at the Ace Hotel will leave you breathless and give you chill bumps from head to toe.
Shoshana Bean and Jeremy Jordan (who by the way does an AMAZING version of this song!) have a lovely duet “Bad Idea” from the same musical this song is from. Their voices together are perfection!
Omg! You should 100% check out the rendition of this song by Niccolina Bosso of american Idol 2022, she gives me whole body chills throughout the whole song to the point that I feel her sorrow when she sings this beautiful song.
I absolutely love Sara Bareilles 💕 however Shoshanna owns this song. Its hers. She earned it with the tears she has pulled from my head every time I listen to her sing this. Her Voice and Focus while singing this song can draw tears from a rock. Great Reaction to one of my faves.
If you thought this was amazing--you have to check out Shoshana performing "make it rain." Hands down, the best rendition of make it rain--ever! Bring that thesaurus--you'll need it!
If you thought this was good then you NEED to react to her duet with Avery Wilson. They cover “Saving All My Love For You” and it is impeccable! She also does a duet of “How Come You Don’t Call Me Anymore” with Deandre Brackensick that is incredible!
I'd love to see how you feel this compared to Alison Luff - her version is much more raw and angry. But beautiful. I love Shoshana's beautiful, almost defeated rendition, but Alison's gives me full body chills.
What a crappy presentation! You can barely see her, and he’s got some sort of blue screen over to the left. Other people have respected Shoshana Bean a whole lot better.

Shoshana emotes like no other. She also played Jenna in waitress.
Now that you've been introduced to Shoshana, you MUST do make it rain!! Live
And now you must “MAKE IT RAIN”!!
You won’t ever be the same again.
Since you loved this, it is essential that you check out her performance of “Make it Rain” live at the theater at Ace Hotel. You will be awestruck at the end and in disbelief at what you saw and heard.
It is a perfect performance just like this one

Welcome to Shoshana Bean one of the most underrated and perfect voices of our time
The Queen Bean! Not only is she one of the best technical singers I've heard, she will tell you a story with every song she sings. She becomes the song and it is magnificent to watch.
Sara Barielles wrote it for the musical "Waitress."
Shoshana has also been Elphaba in Wicked. You definitely need to react to her Defying Gravity. Her voice is like no other.
I second this one totally!
She’s a vocal BEAST! The way she brings the emotion out to tell the story is an extremely rare skill.

The lines that always get me and make me teary-eyed....
"She is hard on herself...
She is broken, and won't ask for help..."
Thank you for reacting to this. I’ve seen the Broadway show twice and it’s amazing. They use a rotation of main characters with Her being one of them. She also sings with Postmodern Jukebox
She sang this in the musical WAITRESS. Sara Barielles wrote it. Shoshana Bean is is one of the best in the business.
Make. 👏 It. 👏 Rain. 👏👏👏
The song was originally written by Sara Bareilles. Her video King of Anything is a worthwhile gander if you enjoyed this.

Every 4 bars I'm amazed again.. this is phenomenal
Shoshana has some great originals, too. Check out This War and there’s a sound check version of Only One Way to Go that is really good.

She has a message and made me reach a point, thankfully I had a man who heard me.
+1 for "Make it Rain" at the Ace Hotel
You have a speaking voice that would be totally rad in an audiobook.
I think the original songwriter/performer of this is Sara Bareilles. BUT - THIS WAS AN AMAZING SONG

Pls!! make it Rain
she has a super funny video with pentatonix. pop goes broadway
you're not going to hear anyone do it better than Shoshana
Jordin Sparks has the best version of this, imo. It's not OTT theatrical. But the song makes more sense and hits harder in the Context of the show.
Do that
Road to 500 K ... best reaction videos on U - tube... 💯..
The very best version of this song is sung by Adrian Matthew Escalona.
👏👏🥳🥳
