I did. Wasn't that hard. I played other games that I had sooo much more fun in like Devil May Cry 5 that I got into recently and when you play a game that treats you right it's easy to look back at Destiny and say never again

I quit after the solstice event in 2019. I just started my own business and I had a three month old daughter and I was still at work thinking about grinding for the damn armor. I said to myself enough is enough. I still have that destiny itch though
yeah you can. I stopped after Forsaken and will never pay a dime to Bungie again for the same kind of experience over and over and over. It's a money blackhole. Even if you go back, I'm sure it would last as long as these 'new' activities do, that in Bungie terms, means not too long. Don't worry.

Bungo is good at gunplay. They're good at movement systems. They're even good at exotics and unique perks. But the thing they're best at over anything else? Making a damn trailer. They always hype me up so much for the next season, and most of them will not be season 13. And yet we come back, season after season.

It took three years, and the release of Forsaken, but it looks like Destiny 2 had finally found its storytelling, lore telling stride, and I’m happy for them. As someone who’s jumped back into Destiny 2 since The Red War, now is the best time to revisit the game.

honestly destiny 2 is actually such a great game. The art direction is beautiful (just look at europa ffs), the gameplay is snappy, the guns look and feel amazing to shoot, the lore is dense and rich, the music is phenomenal. Its just plagued by the live service model and repetitive bounties, but since its gameplay foundation is so strong I dont actually mind it. I think this is why destiny 2 succeeds as a live service game while other games like anthem, avengers, outriders and even warframe all failed

The problem I have with Destiny 2 is that when they release content in a seasonal package it means that everybody knows what is available to get almost instantly, there is 0 mystery to the rewards or new loot that's available. My favorite thing to do in D1 was open a shit ton of legendary engrams right as a new DLC came out and getting gear that nobody had ever heard of. There weren't any people making reviews on these guns before you got to experience it for yourself.
This is just false and inaccurate.
Last season the presage mission which was completely unknown and discovered by players, not on the roadmap.
And we got the best exotic scout from it ever

instead of playing destiny 2 for 500 hours, I watch a half hour skillup video every half a year and get the same approximate experience

This was the first season in the seasonal model that actually felt good to play (cant speak for day one experience, as I started 2 weeks before its end).

I don’t know if you played Season of Dawn but IMO it was also a really good season. From cool looking armor (still my main ornaments), to a fun 6 player activity, to interesting and unique weapons, I think it’s a pretty under-rated season. Chosen still beat it by a long shot, but I think it’s the only season that anywhere near Chosen’s ballpark. Arrivals was also very good for similar reasons, but once again no Chosen IMO

Honestly, this is why I wish this game didn't have pvp, or Bungie would just flat out say that pvp is just supposed to be a circus and not balanced. Dead Man's Tale is awesome and it's pretty much one of the hallmark examples of an exotic. It's pretty much perfect. But it will probably be nerfed because "pvp balance" as if nerfing it will somehow make pvp less of a shitshow ( It won't). PvP has been and always will be, a place akin to MW2 where everyone is overpowered and nobody takes it seriously because it would be ridiculous to do so.
SkillUp made a point that Apex Arenas are better than trials. Well no shit. Apex is only a pvp game. I would expect it to be better. Destiny is more than just a pvp game. So ya it's kind of a nightmare to balance. Just like nearly any other game with rpg elements that tries to have both pvp and pve.
I'd rather have a game like we have now where pve feels awesome but pvp is a circus than the alternate option which is D2 year one where everything is reigned in for balance, pve suffers a lot for it, and pvp still sucks because when you take away everyones' crazy superpowers and op guns, everyone just sits back and camps so pvp players still aren't happy, which means nobody is happy.

Last time I played Destiny, players were still looking for a level 26 Warlock with Gjallerhorn for VOG, the app was full of “Bungie - fix your broken servers” comments, and that tiny bloke from Game Of Thrones was voicing Ghost!

Completely agree with what you said in this vid. One thing to note is I think Bungie in an interview said they viewed strikes as a "moment in time" so the dialogue being outdated still works because the strike only happened once canonically

I hoped the new freedom of Bungie would mean an improvement, and less Eververse shennanigans, but the inverse happened.

I invested a lot of time and money in it and it's really hard to stop, but beside the gunplay, i don't really find anything enjoyable in it anymore. I'm glad people can enjoy it still, but i personnaly wish Bungie could use this exellent gunplay in a more interesting setting and game.

Destiny has always been that kind of game where I feel at “home.” I’ve recently been playing tons of games I’ve missed out on over the years and although many are great and better in story and gameplay in their own way, it still just feels awesome just to sit back and experience Destiny’s buttery smooth gameplay once again.

Ya missed out man BUT if ya wanna hop back hold out for a week or two before trying splicer, might notbe worth

Seasonal challenges ARE a great addition, aside of course from the fact that Bungie tied so much of the reworked avenue for earning bright dust to some pretty ridiculously grinding, as well as not allowing progress to be retroactive.
