Cowser needs to sit for a few games. Getting fed constant change-ups and other off-speed pitches has started to mess him up. He's been terrible lately and got a middle/middle fastball and just took it for a third strike with a chance to tie the game in 10th. Either Stowers or Hays needs to get in.
Well, Hays is back so he's got competition now. I know they'll stick with him but if Hays catches fire he will play. Cowser may find himself on the outs again.
Seems like they're just relying on homeruns lately. Small ball has been terrible.
1)Westburg 2)Gunnar, 3)Adley / 45 & 6 - Santander, Mountcastle , Ohearn depending on matchup. 7-8-9 Cowser, Mateo , Mullins , Depending on matchup- you Can mix Hays in that 7-8-9 based on matchup to ease him back in until he starts to hit consistency then his best role is 5th 6th or 2nd when he is locked on. But Gunnar batting 1st is a no no to much of a weapon to give up over 162+ at bats per year with automatic nobody on.
It's crazy to me, but the last 3 starts of C. Burnes, he gets no respect, like Rodney Dangerfield. 0 wins. Orioles with one of the best offenses, seems to have a huge flaw.

Yep no run support. Maybe Hyde should start him a day early next week or give him an extra day of rest. Since the O's have had zero offense as a pattern every 5 games 😂

The huge flaw is undiscipline at bats. Period. Walks are way down from last year. They are chasing 40% more. It's passable against average pitching. But notice what happens when we face a good starter
I think everyone including this podcast and MASN are too easy on Burnes. He rarely gets into the 7th, never longer. He’s very good but not an Ace. Fatigued at 85 pitches, that’s soft. That’s why they won’t resign him and based on his 9 starts that doesn’t upset me.
Question: we see a pattern of hitters not giving Burnes run support. Any idea how that works? For example, is it a psychological thing like, "phew, it's Burnes today. I can relax a little..."
Shades of Jamie Moyer. I suspect most of you are too young to remember, but Moyer lost games 1-0 and 2-1 when he was with the O's--no run support. I wouldn't be surprised if Burnes called his agent already. "I'll give back the money--get me outta here!" (I'm a big Stowers fan. Hope the third time's a charm for him in the AL.)
I remember watching Jamie Moyer. he had a 90mph fastball and a wicked change up. and everyone thought he was a cousin of mine. but unfortunately he wasn't related to me in any way
Dude he’s a pro and clearly knows the Os aren’t doing this on purpose. They are still a top 5 offense so I doubt he’s that upset. Pitches are judged far more on era anyway more so than W/Ls

The Orioles have so many guys slumping it's difficult to decide what to do. Adley, O'Hearn and Westburg are steady and dependable. Who else? I don't know. Probably Montcastle, maybe Mateo.
Why are we taking our starter out after 85 pitches??

Hey Connor,mailbag question. Does bringing up our prospects (Holliday,kjerstad,etc) then sending them back down. Do they lose value? Since they dont produce when up here?
Not even a little bit. depends on what you mean by "value" as well. Guys struggle as rookie's, happens to nearly everyone. Gunner was batting right around .200 through may last year before TAKING OFF in June. Rutchman the same thing, he had something like a .170 avg through his first 10 games. Also understand neither Holliday or Heston are likely to be traded. Tony's a FA after the season and Cedric/Hays run out of Arb after 2025 so major changes are coming. Both of them will be big time contributers for us for years
I know the Orioles don't want to do this, but I am still of the belief that Kjerstad would be best served long term at 1B and Mayo long term in RF
McKenna is the herpes of the Orioles, he just doesn't go away. I have my issues with Hays, but at least he doesn't make the bone head mistakes on the bases and in the field that McKenna does
Heston is a DH. As long as Santander is on the team he's not going to play much. Why? Because they occupy the same space. Heston is best in RF where Santander plays. Heston is best at DH but Santander hits there if he's not in tbe field. But so do Adley and Ohearn so Heston is blocked until the Os move on from Santander. I don't see that happening this year. In fact unless they let him walk when his contract is up they might as well trade Heston because he doesn't fit otherwise. He doesn't have a position!!
That's more or less their plan I believe. Tony's a part of this O's team that hopefully makes a deep run and come the offseason someone like the Cubs or Nationals will go out and pay him a huge contract. Heston will fit right in as our everyday RF come OD 2025

His option year was used the moment he started the year in AAA. And you're not worried about option years for a player as good as Kjerstad.

Mullins and Santander are a waste. You're not hitting Mullin mullin. S strikes out 3 times a game. Santander only hits a home run Once every fifteen games. Arias Still is useless. Heston didn't hit because the useless manager hide didn't play him. This team still has no power Consistently. And we're leaving too many runners on base. Gunder henderson should not be leading off And our top textures should not be hitting second. No.
Body's driving in runs in the third fourth and fifth batting position
Gunnar leads off because the leadoff hitter gets more ABs over the season than anyone else. This is why the Yanks hit Judge leadoff last year and second this year.
Trade the prospects for proven talent. Cowser stinks, Heston is mid, Holliday flawed , stowers all or nothing
Going to be hard to trade them as they lose value because when they get called up they don't produce and get sent down
In my opinion you are wrong about those players. People haven't seen nearly seen nearly enough of them at the big-league level to come to that conclusion. There have been many players that have been brought up to the big clubs & initially struggled then went on to have good productive careers.

Point being, the best hitters fail 70% of the time. And good players go through slumps. In addition, these guys are rookies. They're nowhere near reaching their potential.
These guys just need more ABs. If I'm Heston, I'm really frustrated because I hit like a mad man to get the call up but all I got when they called me up is to sit on the bench. He rarely played so how was he supposed to help the team? Then they send him down. Mullins has to be benched. On this team with all these prospects vying for time you just can't play him when he's hitting below .200
