Fact is, Will stole something from everyone that night. He stole from the others who were awarded Oscars (Questlove for example, who received an Oscar after "The Slap"). Nobody remembers Questlove's acceptance speech, but everyone sure will remember The Slap. Jada rolled her eyes at the joke that Chris made (and she's been very public about not caring if people comment on her hair/lack of). Will strutting up on stage, was all about HIM. Not about protecting his wife. It was about him. And when Will later came up on stage to accept his own Oscar for Emancipation, he apologized to everyone... except Chris! So when Will days later, in a pre-taped video posted on his Instagram tried to excuse his behavior as "going through some things", it came off as nothing more than damage control on Will's part. Funny, but also intense! I remained interested and watched it in it´s entirety and may watch it again! This one felt much deeper and personal than his past performances, likewise made sincere and interesting observations about the universally, dysfunctional social state of the Internet-jaded masses. I liked how he cleverly hid his own opinions on the current "woke" issues ,and, yeah "selective outrage" really nails it! I was happy to hear his side of the story in regards to the unknown details surrounded and indirectly, fuelled that fateful incident at the Oscars last year. I felt he was holding back a bit, out of concern for possibly triggering certain individuals, but of course he said he would. I noticed the same with Jim Jeffries on his latest special. Holding back on the edgy material, seems to be a trend amongst many comedians lately and sadly, it kinda dampens their delivery. The only comedian who hasn´t bent to the "do not offend, lest ye be cancelled" rule, has been Ricky Gervais. Just my opinions, folks! Cheers from sunny Finland!
I LoVe Chris Rock ❣️ The way he gets his point across is Genius . In my perspective , he is a greater Comedic Genius ; than : Dave Chapelle . In my perspective , he has been the Contemporary Raw Comedian . No one else ; since , Richard Pryor is as Legendary as him . I am a Woman Of Faith . I do not always appreciate the profanity or explicit content . However , I still LoVe his talent . He uses raw language and explicit scenarios to get his point across .
One thing … I disagree with Will’s action ! It’s horrible ! We need to apologize more and more ! But Chris Rock started with Jaida ! He attacked her many times !
Dame. Jada didn’t slap Chris Rock at the Oscar on live T.V. All the stuff the Smith’s put out about their relationship, be sure that’s not all of it. And if you listen to them they are never getting divorced. They have enough money to only see each other on holidays if they want.
Now Forgiveness and moving on and Chriss stop joking on people in general and just keep it on a theme it might work. Cause not all people like to be joked on or can taje a joke. Or be the joke every time on a show or an party repeadly .

I just saw the special, yep mostly funny. A few things had me WTF!? But there you go. Just saw Emancipation last week as well. Excellent movie. I enjoy Chris's and Will's work. I don't give a crap about their personal lives. Its not up to me or anyone else to punish Will, because he had a melt down, and that is what it was. Chris declined to press charges, and as far as I am concerned that ended it. That was not a happy man, that was a man in a toxic life who exploded, and Chris was collateral damage. I don't condone or excuse what Will did, just sayin.
I'd have respected Chris Rock way more if he used his special to reconcile and 'turn the other cheek' rather than just 'crying' out like a kid who started it. I'm not justifying what Will did but Chris Rock still clearly needs healing. We all do. Let's heal the world by forgiving and loving each other

Whoopi is the only woman at the table who can move her eyebrows. Everyone else makes me wonder if the Botox comes directly to The View, or does The View need to go to the Botox for their injections? As for Chris Rock, he has every right to say however he felt about it and processed it. I'm glad it's his now. Until he spoke about it, it felt like it was on all of us to react for him in a way. This is overall a net positive.
@@wjmwdead Nah, Whoopi has brows, maybe not all the hairs, but her browline is intact and able to emote. These other ladies have literally paralyzed the muscles meant to express emotions. They've muted a vital part of their own non-verbal communication. I know it's meant to prevent wrinkles, but wrinkles tell a story of your life. Laugh lines are some of the most beautiful facial traits a person can have, and they're preventing lines like that, the lines that tell who you are and who you've been. Wrinkles tell the world whether you spent a life of anger or joy, fear or compassion. Not to wax poetic, but wrinkles are wonderful and beautiful in so many ways! I wish it was a more celebrated part of natural human maturity. Same with Menopause and Andropause in general. I wish aging wasn't such a taboo topic. Whoopi is beautiful. @@yvetterenee8256 Our entertainment aesthetic here in the USA is full of violent role models and fueled with fighting. When it spills over into IRL, those responsible for such "entertainment" make people like you desensitized to the harm it's doing to our civility. We keep seeing signs of it in mass shootings and cops shooting before asking questions, plenty of examples everywhere, and now this. I'm not blaming entertainment; but I want them to know this isn't okay. It's not ok BECAUSE it leads to people taking lives on the streets thinking the slap is nothing, the punch is nothing, the kick is nothing, the gunfire is nothing... Does it only mean SOMETHING when someone dies? Is that your limit to a civil society? Death? I think that's entirely unreasonable and distasteful too. These comments are so different to other social media platforms, everyone was calling Chris cringe and dragging the situation out. He also said he enjoyed a movie where will smith was getting whipped in it.
Another thing... why is this video title even mentioning Jada? Why is it appropriate for him to "fire back" at a woman he antagonized to begin with? The title implies that Jada did something wrong to begin with and she didn't. He picked on her and then continued to go on a misogynistic rant against her. It's not a crime to not find a joke funny, especially one told at your expense.
I still don’t understand why they did a movie about Venus and Serena Father but not about the two tennis playing duo. From what the studios and Jada were trying to surpress in the media, is that Richard, the dad neglected his oldest daughters from his first marriage and played favoritism with these two.
Here’s the thing. Everyone is entitled to their own feelings. Will Smith is entitled to feel disrespected by Chris Rock, Chris Rock is entitled to feel disrespected by Will Smith, both are entitled to say what ever they want after. Married is married. There’s no break from the vows or promises you made to one another. I don’t recall having heard that separation or divorce papers had been filed. Adultery is adultery regardless of permission being given.
Whoopi looks great in pink. More please.

This was so not funny…
So disappointed in these ladies saying the loved a special where Chris Rock called a black woman a B so many times even though she didn’t even hit him
This is a discussion I enjoyed
He kept her name out his mouth!!!!😂
Will and Jada have never practised monogamy they've been swinging since day one, I worked that out back in the late 90's
They’ve said quite clearly they’re in an open relationship. Apparently Americans have a problem dealing with that.
Actually they said they were never swingers
That’s their business but they should have kept that out of the public
@@TheAMW should have is matter of opinion. If they don’t say anything will create more lies. It’s damned if you do. Damned if you don’t
@@Anfani Oh please don't you remember back in the day they'd be getting interviewed and asked a question like "So how do you guys keep your relationship fresh?"
And the answer was
"Oh well we tell eachother when we're attracted to other people, like we see somebody hot in the gym or in the park we tell eachother about." That is so code for "We bang other people." It's the same as when they described Rock Hudson and Montgomery Clift as "Confirmed bachelor's" which was code for "raging queen" I can say that coz I'm one too.
5:35 omg, Like watching Woopi back in Ireland on the big screen growing up in the 90s - all heart and no hate!!!! It's beautiful to see :). It only took 30yrs :(

I wanna hug Chris Rock & his family. Thank you for showing class act. I hope young generation learns the classy way of dealing with life’s problem. Cause Will didn’t apologize right away that night. He cried, found excuses & celebrated his victory without guilt. Fragile ego is in the family … you play with water, you get wet, you play with fire, you get burnt

@@DooDoo4208 really??
Right on Chris !!!

She didn't start anything. She is responsible for her actions and Will his choices actions. Two different people
I just don't think Chris Rock is funny at all. He is a joke himself. Not watching anything he's a part of.👎
Big respect for Chris rock came from nothing and worked his way to the top the stand up special was hilarious 👏
Correction: Chris Rock didn't joke about the slavery issue but the actor of emancipation.
The obvious…. They play confused when they want to cry about it.
He waited until the next oscars (basically) to talk about it XD well played!
And $40 million
Because he got what he wanted
It only took him several months and plenty of patience!
Will was wrong But..... I have never found Chris Rock funny. I'm just saying🤷♀️
So people actually sit around and watch the view ??? Really??? 😂 I’ll never understand

Sonny's take is a year late. We all knew Will went nuts because his wife drove him insane.
No, we don’t. Will is responsible for his OWN actions.
It wasn’t Jada’s fault that Will got up out his chair and smacked Chris. Will is grown, his actions are his.
@@naylas3908 👏👏

Dame. Jada didn’t slap Chris Rock at the Oscar on live T.V. All the stuff the Smith’s put out about their relationship, be sure that’s not all of it. And if you listen to them they are never getting divorced. They have enough money to only see each other on holidays if they want.
Chris Rock slap back two times harder with this performance.🤣
I would like to see them in a movie together. It would be a box office hit.

I can't believe I clicked a The View video, must delete after watching from history, but I see Chris Rock, I click.
Not whoopi laughing💀
I'd have respected Chris Rock way more if he used his special to reconcile and 'turn the other cheek' rather than just 'crying' out like a kid who started it. I'm not justifying what Will did but Chris Rock still clearly needs healing. We all do. Let's heal the world by forgiving and loving each other
Did you actually watch the special? The topic was about people having selective anger and playing the victim role. Nowhere in the special did Chris cry about it, he said the obvious
Well, you can say that since you were not the person that was slap on a live televised award show in front of millions of people that will forever be on the internet.
But….. she doesn’t have any eyebrows😂😂😂😂
what eyebrows?
He's a year late. Who cares anymore. 😴 Plenty of men have been killed on the streets. He took a slap. This is the least of my concerns
Check out her smile, lines and all!
I won't allow myself to be desensitized like this. I refuse to accept this behavior. I won't normalize it. This kind of "WWE" behavior outside the ring is preposterous beyond measure. LMFAO!! Yeah, you cheated on your husband....
Chris Rock _earned_ money from the 40 million dollar Netflix special instead of taking the issue to court. Let that sink in.
Will is the reason we watched . Chris called him talented, strong and plugged his new movie. Chris humanized Will . In an attempt to slander he only spoke what will and Jada have already told the world. The show was Chris's dissertation on the Definitive Will Smith

Critics views rarely align with the majority - they’re critics for a reason.
Which is why CNN said that special was the reason you shouldn’t go after comedians.
He killed it 🙌🏻👏🏻🤣
I still don’t understand why they did a movie about Venus and Serena Father but not about the two tennis playing duo. From what the studios and Jada were trying to surpress in the media, is that Richard, the dad neglected his oldest daughters from his first marriage and played favoritism with these two.
What and how did Jada had to do with it?
It's obvious you didn't watch the film.
Here’s the thing. Everyone is entitled to their own feelings. Will Smith is entitled to feel disrespected by Chris Rock, Chris Rock is entitled to feel disrespected by Will Smith, both are entitled to say what ever they want after. And y’all are entitled to feel how y’all want to about the whole thing. But you’re not entitled to tell someone what they feel or how they should feel. Especially when it didn’t happen to you. Y’all be forgetting that.
You also don't have the right to lay your hands on another individual, just my opinion
Civilized people NEVER put their hands on other people like that.
But you are not entitled nor have the right to assault somebody because you did not like what they said
