So sick of people constantly injecting "the portrayal of Black Men" into a discussion, because of the actions of one Black Man.
If it was a white men who slapped a black men it would've been classified as a racism. Everything is racial motivated in the today America expecially when it involves white and black people 🤦🏽♀️
Ok?! No Sunny, YOU’RE reinforcing that stereotype by continuing to talk about every time this topic comes up
You have to talk about it because both of them are black. If Will would have slapped Billy Crystal do you think it would be perceived the same? I bet Will would have got thrown out. It's more acceptable when it's two black guys. Everyone just sat there and did nothing.
This incident does not negate everything he has done but it does not give him a pass for what he did to Chris.
Will Smith might as well not have apologized, All people going to do is use the opportunity to further drag him.
@@commonsense3921 Please, he created that situation for himself, when someone B@#$%! slaps you, because they believe they can get away with it, you can accept an apology, Chris has to live with that embarrassment for the rest of his life, so if poor Will has to, at least it was his choice, you do you, I said what I said!
@@swampcrypt I don't think he acts smug but I do think he's hurting somehow related I think to how his wife behaves
Well said, @Loli Loli. It's similar to what Sara was saying at the end. His good shouldn't be cancelled over this, but that violent offense shouldn't be ignored because of his credits either.
Chris Rock definitely should be free to move on without any pressure for forgiveness.
Agreed 100%, I also did not think it should have taken this so long.
I completely agree with Anna. I love Will Smith and I don’t think one mistake should erase his 30 year plus career of accomplishments, broken barriers and positivity
Thank you very much my lovely fan ❤️❤️❤️. I would love to talk to you
I totally disagree!!!
They shouldn’t have reacted to this without seeing the full clip because he did talk about some of things they said he should have
They just want to rile up hate. They are unable to forgive anybody, it's so ugly.
Exactly! I’m so disappointed with Sunni who seems to be advocating for him to not be redeemed.
@@nothgir yeah disappointed in her thoughts
Well I am glad I've read your comments before ive seen the video. I shall watch the whole clip. Thank you 👍🇬🇧
Look at the segment again. Sunny said she saw the entire clip. She spoke about some things he said that weren’t shown on intro.
I thought she was fair and thought he deserved redemption.
One of the best line I read from "THE 5 LOVE LANGUAGE" is : you can't apologize to someone the way you feel comfortable, you have to apologize to them the way they feel comfortable" nevertheless effort and grace should be considered as well.
Thank you Anna! He made a mistake. Something we all do. He’s taken so much time off and has apologised. We have to be willing to give people a second chance. Nobody’s perfect
He who is without sin cast the first stone!
Will's responsibility in the situation is to apologize not force someone to forgive him!!! His job is done ✔️ 👏

👎 Jada should apologize. She’s the real issue.
I believe Will Smith was trying to communicate effectively as words are important and they hold weight. I don't necessarily agree that he was being overly scripted, rather he was trying to be reflective and thoughtful. He is human, he made a mistake, and is now seeking redemption.
PS: I also think he has been going through a serious mental health journey, every now and again we all could use some grace.
Well said!

The only thing he can do is apologize. He tried to do it in private and now he has apologize twice in public. There is nothing else he can do until Chris reaches out to him. We get it, it was a horrible moment but in my opinion he has done everything within his power at this time.
I completely agree with you. I guess people want blood for blood. Will just let him slap you back on stage and then both will be even
Because he should have apologized when accepting his Oscar. When he apologized to Chris it via an Instagram post. He’s finally verbally giving an apology.

WILL is a BULLY!
There is a difference between "I apologize", "I am sorry" and "Do you forgive me". The first 2 do not require a reply from the victim. The 3rd requires a response for closure. Will is Hollywood all day long. This looked like a produced apology. For him to say the action had nothing to do with Jada at this point and earlier imply it did is messy. Jada is toxic and Will is a puppet.
Finally someone on here with brains and logic! Exactly! 👏🙌👏
I see some of you guys are not married. Who would throw there wife under the bus. I do believe she was behind it all but understand Will taking all the blame.
Toxic to whom and why?
Do u live with them???
Exactly, I like them both, but you assaulted someone for some minor BS, took rhe trophy and still no real apology. I'm sorry to Chris heartfelt will more than suffice!!
Disappointed in the ladies on the view who said he wasn't being authentic. Do they know what courage it took to make that apology. Most of the apologies that come so quickly are not genuine. They are just meant to make us move on so quickly. He is making an effort that many celebrities wouldn't make. Plus he needed to let the dust settle. People need to be more empathetic.
Chris was d victim, not Will. Don't make this about Will.
Yesssssss ANNA!!!!

My two cents: I don't think nor believe that he needs to be challenged by Oprah or nobody. Will Smith is handling this his way in his own way. Trust me he probably had a conversation with his mother; thats all the challenge he needs. He doesn't owe the public anything BUT he apologized and I felt he was sincere. He is doing the work of self reflection, and self examination. He is doing the work and I can appreciate that. Those of us who has been hurt or traumatized by someone never ever get the apology that Will Smith put out there. Now its in Chris Rock's hands. Healing takes time. Chris Rock needs to take the time that he needs to get to his healing and when he does that; he and Will Smith will have that conversation. Hurt is hurt there is no time frame on that.

I used to be a huge fan if Will Smith but he should have known better at his age. To assault someone on the Oscar stage while Live on national TV was stupid, stupid, stupid and unforgivable.
He should know better at his age, as a father and as a really famous and successful actor in that setting.

If I was Chris Rock, I would never forgive bc Chris will never live that moment down for as long as he lives. He is going to be replaying that assault and humiliation for the rest of his life.
The only reason Will Smith is apologizing is bc of all the backlash. And his wife and kids careers have been destroyed. Nobody wants anything to do with that family now. So Will is just trying to salvage that. No, I am done with that whole family.

Oprah herself needs to sit down ask herself some hard questions. This is why I am now convinced that people just do not think at all before they talk.
There is a difference between being ashamed of an action and wallowing in shame because of it. I suspect Will is talking about the latter. He absolutely should be ashamed about hitting Rock, but not allow that shame to keep him from moving forward and addressing the issues that led to the unfortunate action of assaulting someone.
Here is my thought. We ALL screw up things in life. But what MOST of us do NOT do is screw up where we physically assault someone else! That isn't someone simply making a mistake and/or simply having a bad day/moment. This is someone who clearly has issues he needs to get some help for.
That being said, I do appreciate the fact he is at least TRYING to make things right. But I don't blame Chris Rock one bit if he decides to not forgive Will Smith.
I watched Will's apology, this isn't the first time he's apologized for his actions at the Oscars. He's reached out to CR's team to have a conversation with him. He's taking an honest look within to understand the root of what caused him to act out in a violent way. He is human and has made a mistake, sadly in front of millions of people. I admire him taking the time to address self-reflect and grow from this.
The slimiest thing about this new "apology" is how he tries to put public pressure on Chris to talk to him. You're not entitled for Chris to "talk to you", Will. Grow up and stop being creepy. Why tattle-tale to the public that he isn't taking your calls? You expect us to peer pressure him? Chris is living his best life. You made your bed, now lie in it and leave Chris alone ffs LOL
BTW, he only came out with this today because he saw Chris trending yesterday with Kevin Hart and Dave Chapelle, so Will's trying to get ahead of the spotlight. Obvious PR move, and actually aggressively manipulative. He hasn't changed.
I believe he just needs to pray and ask for forgiveness. More so to forgive himself. There is no need to hammer down on him. Guilt will do that. I agree with Ana
KARMA to what he did to the ORIGINAL Aunt Viv. Destroyed her career. I don't care that he reconciled with Janet. And Will is 🌈 let's talk about how you REALLY got the role of Fresh Meat, I mean Prince of Bel Aire
Soon many people have done worst then Will!! "Whoever she is" this Man is apologizing and doesn't need to be challenged!!!! I luvv Will and always will💞
I believe Will is genuinely sorry. The real talk should be between Chris and Will. They both need time to heal. He has apologized to everyone pretty much. We have all made mistakes and we hopefully have learned from them. 'Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil". I will leave you with that. Have a great weekend
Love her as a co-host would not be mad if they make her permanent
No Will Smith didn't reinforce a stereotype about black men. Have you seen hockey? They always enforce what aggression looks like.
This apology should not be about saving face in the public eye, it's about Will rectifying the situation and taking responsibility. Like it or not, whether Will is an actor, a bus driver or a teacher, he has to come correct. This apology needed help. It reeked of celebrity ego-saving. In a shady way it kind of places some responsibility on Chris to do his part in healing the situation. He wasn't the one who slapped anyone. The onus is on Will. Chris doesn't ever have to talk to Will if he doesn't want to. Chris doesn't need to be manipulated nor publicly forced into having a heart to heart with Will in order to fix things. He never broke anything.
Yes. It bugged me that he sounded critical of Chris. The View ladies sounded critical too. Chris doesn't have to do anything.
He don’t need to apologize to no one else! Nd he don’t need to apologize again!
would love to see chris on the show, he is hilarious and honestly i loved the joke he got smacked for lol
G.I. Jane? 👩🏾🦲🇺🇸💥
Chris has NEVER been funny and that "joke" definitely wasn't funny
He slapped him, he didn’t decapitate him. Time to move on
It's sufficient.
This is between Chris and Will. Let them talk. 🙏. We are forgiven to forgive. Ana said everything that needs to be said...
🥰😘

......Why didn't this feel real.."I apologize to you" not only pausing in between. when some says "I apologize" instead I am truly sooty or regret ....I can't take the apology
Not an apology to you
@@bluesky2195 well aware
The apology is not to you, it’s to us. Apology accepted Will!
@@natyak5641 ok 😂 lol
Will Smith have contracts on ice right now. That "bag" makes these guys remorseful.
Exactly!
@ ryan williams That could be so but he just signed a $35 million dollar deal for the Bad Boy sequel..
@@fo4141 yeah but he had like some $300mm in the pipe prior to "the slap" including a Netflix gig
I feel he sounded genuine.
Ain't nobody canceling Will Smith over one mistake! He apologized and asked for forgiveness. Everything else is between him and God.
I love The View, but you should have seen the whole video prior to commenting. The man apologized and it's enough. He doesn't not owe the world anything. He made a mistake. This is really between Chris Rock and Will Smith. And no...he should be ashamed of himself.
Jada was behind the camera saying
“You know August right around the corner…don’t F this up Willard!!!!”
Wait did she just pretend that the United States has never committed human rights violations? 😳
A person in love, lust, emoitions, and anger will make people do crazy things. We have to be forgiving at times, when we don't want to. Will Smith is brave man. Hopefully, they both can work through it.
Love is not an excuse for violence like that
Love does not beget violence. That is the mantra of abusers. Stop it.
@@jaxsmith1204 Thats true. Which I feel he understands that, but he has to giclve Chris time to process everything.
If it was a white men who slapped a black men it would've been classified as a racism. Everything is racial motivated in the today America expecially when it involves white and black people 🤦🏽♀️
Had he been White, you would have asked for crucifixion. Let's be real here.
