I know no one cares but the Space Marine 2 announcement was a huge shock and get hype moment for me. The first game was really good and there was essentially no way there was going to be a second so it’s an awesome surprise to see it.

I think this year had the most "big" announcements and trailers compared to past years but they were just paced weirdly. Also not enough time focusing on actual awards.
Tim is the hype King lol but I have to agree with Greg. Game awards were boring honestly. Way too long and too many ads. I feel a lot of the games we knew about or are not coming out for a other 3 years.

Yeah, that game was my favourite this year and I hoped they would get at least one award. But I guess it'd just be a cherry on top of a successful game for them.
So happy for Josef Fares and his team, well deserved man! 👏 That being said, this show was too long, I had to cut it short to go to bed cause I had work in the morning lol I wish game awards were only 2 hours max.

Yeh, people seem to have preconceived notions of what it will be because it's animated and based on a video game(just like i did), but it's actually really fucking good and transcends all of that.
Its amazing but i liked invincible just as much.

While It Takes Two wasn’t my persona GOTY, I can’t sit here and pretend it doesn’t deserve all of its praise. Amazing gameplay, beautiful levels, and a sweet story!! The disrespect for Space Marine 2 is unreal. That was an out of nowhere announcement and super exciting. I agree that Games Workshop throws their IP around to anyone nowadays but the original Space Marine for the Xbox 360 was a REALLY good game, and I am super hyped for this. Like... I know we've been super oversaturated with Warhammer trailers over the last few years for a bunch of nothing games, but THIS is the one to pay attention to. 3rd person single player, story focused, and if it's like the original, an awesome multiplayer versus mode too.

Yyyep, I just posted my own comment on this. I don't know why they see such a divide here and don't know more people into the tabletop scene as I see it all as much the same geeky world with comics, scifi, horror, fantasy etc. Should be all love between us.

Well Arcane from Netflix is now nr 4 Most Popular TV Shows on IMDb and Top Rated TV Shows nr 15. And got 100% on rotten tomatoes and AUDIENCE SCORE 97%. So if you you guys that are gamers in a gaming channel want to see one of the best Game to tv adoption made. Than go and see the full season.

I thought visually amazing and as a massive fan of the sound design of the first game I'm glad that's still a big feature. My only issue with what we saw and why there might have been a muted response is it looked incredibly scripted to the point if they'd said it was just an in-game animated trailer I'd have gone, ok. But at the end he said it was gameplay, and I call BS. So I went from hyped to also muted. It looks great though and I have trust in NT.

Hellblade had nothing to prove on the graphics side. But gameplay was lacking in the first episode and still looks basic in this trailer. Kind of a letdown on my part unfortunately...

I really liked Have a Nice Death, Alan Wake 2, Star Wars Eclipse, Plague Tale Requiem, Arc Raiders, Steel Rising, Space Marine 2, SLITTERHEAD, Sonic Frontiers, Dune, Wonder Woman, Somerville, Planet of Lana, Nightingale
Clearly nobody played Psychonauts it seems. It’s so frustrating and tragic that it got absolutely nothing.
Or didn't understand what it's doing. It should have won either or both the games Deathloop won. Really sad that it got nothing.

@@Mr8T1 It has clunky gameplay but yeah it's as good as people make it out to be. The world map design and how it reflects the narrative and the story is all genius (it's why I feel those Deathloop wins probably should have gone to Psychonauts). But you have to play it (ideally to the end) to really understand that. The 12% doesn't reflect anything when it comes to these types of games imo but I can see that the controls/gameplay would cause some people to bounce off it quite hard. Especially those who have no memory of the first game,
@@Hoopla10 I do think it should have won narrative. Exploring mental illness in the form of environments and collectibles and writing is something that video games do best.
Deathloop winning best narrative seriously gives me a headache. I wish devs had more of a say on the matter.

Aside from that, Star Wars: Eclipse was probably my most hype announcement. The show felt kinda barebones for being 3.5 hours long. I’d rather have a faster-paced 1.5 hour banger of a show than sitting through long ads for games we already know about. That said, it was still a great time, because who the fuck doesn’t love a big-budget awards show dedicated to video games? 😅
2018’s Game Awards is still probably my fav. That Smash Bros. Joker reveal was too much 😭

The Game Awards are not about celebrating the developers with great speeches where it’s frankly embarrassing. Running through winners so quickly is not fair to them at all.
That's the most telling point for this show. Geoff desperately attempts to legitimize it by having a couple recognizable musical artists, and a few famous actors on it. Then it's nearly 50% advertising and RUSHING through the awards part of the show.
@@XxCrankyMoosexX The moment when he ran through 4 winners was a disgrace. Tim defends it by saying he needs to do the ads and music performances for the money, but that’s complete nonsense. The Game Awards are excessively long and premieres are cool and all, but there should be 2 separate shows. One for the premieres and one all about celebrating those developers.
@@DanV900 The music performances are 100% not in any way a revenue generator for the show. No offense to the the artists, but nobody tuned into this because they heard Sting and Imagine Dragons were going to appear. Especially when ID played songs we just heard from a popular Netflix show. It's exclusively to legitimize the show going forward so he gets more money from advertisements.
A 3 hour "awards" show where the actual awards takes a back seat is inexcusable. I really hope the other members challenge him on his unfortunate opinion during tomorrows Games Daily. I genuinely don't understand why he thinks "This was the best game awards we've ever had."
@@XxCrankyMoosexX Yep, Geoff has to pay for those artists with their musical performances where presenting awards saves money. I hate musical performances at all award shows since they’re never necessary. You are correct where it shouldn’t be called the Game Awards honestly when the awards and developers themselves don’t get celebrated. It’s less legitimate. The other 3 were opposing him here and I expect Jared Petty to push back tomorrow, but Greg realizing it’s been like this the entire time was a glass shattering moment for him. It was simply a bad show with what it is meant for and I would be upset to be a developer and get so little time or no time at all when announced as a winner. The Oscars has a separate technical category show where people still give speeches before the main Oscars airs. When those awards are announced, they had their time to shine already. John Campea talking about it on Twitter reflected my thoughts. Show some respect to these developers.

Mediocre event at best. Tim hype and expectations are becoming such a low bar now a days. If you consider that award show as the best game award show ever, even the biggest Tim fans wouldnt agree with it. Its not the worst but its no where near the best.

Definitely agree with Andy here. Part way through the show I was thinking this show is amazing, it can only go up from here. And then I started to care less and less about the announcements. By the end I enjoyed watching it, but definitely felt disappointed on the announcements front. Happy to see it takes two take it home
It takes two was my prediction for the winner it was talked about by everybody for way too long.

I played a lot of games but not that many all the way through. I did beat village and with my son I played all the way through it takes two…which had us hooked the whole way…amazing game and very well deserved! First game awards I wasn’t disappointed. Sad that the award show was better than e3.
Fuck yeah It takes was a wonderful game. It’s the only game I played with my 12yr old daughter to the end. Totally agree it’s game of the year and awesome to see Josef end it with pure honesty. He is right if u don’t have kids. Go get some. Love it.
I'm sorry, but I have to give a dislike to this video. Not because of the announcements on the game awards, that's out of your control obviously. But you keep talking over most speeches, showing during the whole conference you don't really care about the awards but only the announcements. You seem quite disrespectful. And you even mentioned at the end there should be more time and respect for the awards part. Maybe it should start with yourself giving proper respect to it while watching it. I don't like the direction the game awards are going with more focus on the announcements than the awards.
Yeah, I STRONGLY disagree with Tim on this. "This was the best game awards we've ever had" is crazy, and so off base he must have watched a different show than everybody else. Honestly feels like Tim has gone so far into the hype-man shtick he's lying to himself at this point. I found Greg was spot on with his criticisms.

I wanted Maggie (aka tall lady haha) or the guy who played Cole to win for best performance….Maggie never has done any voice over or acting for any video game before and the fact that she stole the show and her character model was only part of that the performance had to live up to such a large character haha.
And COLE WAS JUST SO GOOD AS WELL! John Carlo Esposito is an incredible actor however he has so many opportunities to win awards for acting and gets recognition all the time so I would understand if he won but glad he didn’t though he was great as well!

Wow these guys refused to give Hellblade 2 any credit. It looks fucking stunning and they were making “I guess it looks like gameplay” jabs. If that was PlayStation exclusive they would be freaking out. Those visuals are outrageous.

Bruh I’m fuckin hyped for Witch Queen, I fuckin hated Destiny 2 when I first played but after revisiting two weeks ago I’ve been hooked since. Shadowkeep was a cool as fuck expansion with an actual great concept, a haunted moon with dungeons and crypts and shit. The game is fun as hell, the lore is dope as fuck and the music and scenery is actually beautiful (or sometimes eerie depending on where you are). I have my personal issues with the game but I’m loving it, Witch Queen is a day one for me. Guardian Hive and even more horror elements than Shadowkeep? Count me in babyyy.
Also, as someone whose never played a single Warhammer game and has never been into Warhammer a second of my life, Space Marines 2 looks awesome. Gives me serious Gears of War vibes with the hoards of insect-like aliens and all the gore and chaotic shooting. That shot of the big ass castle-lookin building and the thousands of aliens flying around it was insane so colour me interested. Can anyone tell me if I gotta play the first Space Marine first?
And finally, that Halo trailer was 🥵🥵 didn’t expect that big a budget for a Paramount + show, looks insane. I don’t need anything else, they got my money.

Is it me or when you play a series like battlefield and or call of duty and when the major developers leave and make their own team and their own game you still sense it’s them making that game cuz that’s what I’m getting with arc raiders feels like it’s made by people that made battlefield which I found out already but didn’t know it was them but it felt like it was made by them before finding out it was them

And your right it was the best game awards show we ever had! This is the first time I wasn’t disappointed and also with all the winners.
So many people are crapping on Deathloop winning Art Direction, and just crapping on Deathloop in general, and I don't get it, I loved the game on the PS5 to the point any time I hear the menu music for Deathloop I get flashbacks of the fun I had with it.
And I get that the other games in that particular category had great art direction too, I was even thinking psychonauts might win, despite me hoping it'd be Deathloop, but to say that Deathloop's art is shit isn't on.
There were times I thought Deathloop should've won, like narrative, because I loved the banter between Colt and Julianna, that was funny but still built up the world the game takes place in, but I didn't say 'Oh, Guardians of the Galaxy's narrative was shit', I didn't play Guardians, so I couldn't judge for myself whether it was better or not. Same with GoTY, not played It Takes Two', but I congratulated the Devs nonetheless (and also asked if someone could help them fight take-two on that name claim shananigans).
I just don't know why people have a problem with Deathloop
Andy is 100% right about Dread. It would've been a real contender if the music matched the heights of the moment-to-moment gameplay and boss fights.
But holy crap It Takes Two deserved GOTY...but now I kinda wish KOC won multiplayer and Mario Party won family game. Also Ratchet got snubbed.
