I cried for Xenoblade, but I understand it's still pretty niche.

I'd say not niche anymore, it's getting more games than many other Nintendo franchises lately, and yeah it looks great: lots of references from the first two games.

Tim is right about the overall library of the Switch. The preservation of older franchises to make them current, especially JRPG’s is unmatched. Surprised Square didn’t also release the pixel remasters, but Live A Live, Chrono Cross, and that 3 chapter Triangle demo is plenty for right now. Great direct, and very hyped for Xenoblade Chronicles 3.
FYI: LIVE A LIVE is a game from the Squaresoft era that was composed by Yoko Shimomura and directed by Takashi Tokita (FF IV, Chrono Trigger, Parasite Eve).
That's pretty dope!
Also, one of its musical themes inspired Megalovania (Megalomania).
And Xenoblade 3 will be composed by Yasunori Mitsuda (Chrono Trigger, Cross, Xenogears)

WND's -- it blows my mind that Nintendo does nothing with Mario Kart 8 for all these years, and suddenly says they're adding FOURTY-EIGHT courses. This will almost double the size of the game. Insane. Altogether a decent showing. I wasn't expecting E3 level stuff from the spring show, so this pretty much met my expectations.
Given MK8's sales, it looks like a move to extend the lifespan of the game until probably MK9 on the Switch 2

@Angel Perez Companies generally don't add literally nothing to their game for 5 years and then dump in 48 new courses all of a sudden.
Too bad this DLC is going to go all the way to the end of 2023, that means no Mario kart nine until 2024 🥺

As a lover of Japanese games, this is a monumental Direct. Square Enix is really going all out on the Switch with a Remaster of Chrono Cross, and its always a plus when Satellaview content is given a home with the Radical Dreamers content. Having a never before localized Live A Live HD-2D remake is the stuff Toby Fox dreams of and I can't believe we got it. Between Front Mission 1st, Triangle Strategy, and Advance Wars 1+2: ReBoot Camp, Tactical RPG fans are eating well tonight.
And then Nintendo did the impossible and brought EarthBound and EarthBound Beginnings to Switch, two of the most influential games of all time and EarthBound still bodies even modern day games in terms of writing. Kirby and the Forgotten Land looks great and like a worthy successor to Super Mario Odyssey. Splatoon 3 Salmon Run Next Wave has me excited to reenter the Bay and take out more of these bosses. Nintendo Switch Sports looks like the perfect game to recapture the magic of the Wii Sports series. The Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Booster Course Pass is an incredible deal, makes so much business sense, and is such a boon for Expansion Pack subscribers that justifies the cost all on its own. And Xenoblade Chronicles 3 looks like a perfect mix of the first 2 games that looks to be a fitting conclusion to the trilogy.
And that's not even getting into random third party collection surprises like Klonoa 1 + 2 and Portal Companion Collection! There's so much to be excited for in this Direct, Nintendo knocked it out of the park
Technically Mother 1 and 2 already were released on WiiU VC so it’s not as much of a never-ever as it would’ve seemed back then.
Still awesome news for people who didn’t get a WiiU though!

@@emblemblade9245 Fair point, but these agreements between too many license holders are extremely hard to do once, let alone doing it again when there's not even a cut of sales you can do to sweeten the deal. I'm just glad to see it back again in way more accessible places for a huge audience to experience!

Honestly this is one of the top directs from Nintendo in the past few years. There was one or two epic ones last year, but damn they put out a lot of awesome stuff with this one.

New Mario Strikers, loved the first game. Kirby's new ability is crazy haha. Portal 1 and 2, first Valve games Nintendo. I want it if it's physical. Never heard of Live A Live but I love turn-based RPGs and HD2D so I'm interested. Switch Sports, not enough sports. I want table tennis! Dread update was surprising. One too hard mode and too easy mode. This was great.
To educated you, Live A Live is a _very_ old RPG originally released on the Super Famicom (SNES) in 1994 (That makes the game nearly 30 years old right now). You could consider it a spiritual predecessor to multiple games, most notably Chrono Trigger and Octopath Traveler, which both took cues from this game. It was originally only ever released in Japan, which is one of the reasons lots of people, myself included, are excited about it- we're finally getting an English release for the game! The fact that it's in HD-2D is only icing on the cake.
This is definitely an instant highlight of the Switch era. There’s no hype like new Mario Kart hype.
It's always hilarious to read the comments in the Kinda Funny Games Nintendo Direct Reaction videos. So many Sony fanboys and PC gamers who feel the need to let everyone know that they've "outgrown Nintendo" and "nothing here interests them". Have fun with the 20th COD game or the countless mindless fps' (Fortnite, Overwatch, etc.). Or Sekiro 2... uh I mean Bloodborne 3.... uh I mean Elden Ring....

No one pointed out(made a big deal) that Portal 1&2 are coming to Switch, this is the first port of those games in a decade and shows that Valve is interested in bringing their games to console again. I imagine an Orange Box 15th anniversary re-release is on the horizon for the Xbox, Switch and PlayStation consoles. Which means not only Half-Life Alyx for PSVR2 is a possibility, but more importantly Left 4 Dead getting a return on console. This was the major announcement for me despite it being old games. Valve does not mess with consoles let alone put their game on a platform of an audience that has probably never played their games.
So there's X-Cast for the Xbox, PS I Love You for the Playstation...how about NinTimdo Weekly for Nintendo?

I think the force unleashed is the ps2/wii version of the game Ported because I remember the street fighter camera fight style and Starkiller’s goofy ass run
Also Starkiller holds his lightsaber normally in that version, instead of holding it (iconically) backwards like in the PS3/360 version.

Mario Strikers is an elite series. It’s just absolute carnage and is so fun to play with friends. Also just the visual of the mario cast beating the shit out of each other on a football pitch is just chef kiss. The game is awesome hope you give the new one a chance

Yep same! Save MK9 for the next Switch. All we needed for a while was new courses
(Part of it is the courses look noticeably lower effort than MK8 courses since the tracks are rupped right from tour. But hey it's still cheap and they generally look fine outside of the comparison.)

My fave announcement was probably the mario kart DLC, but even then my reaction was tempered quite a bit when I realized how flat the courses look. It's clear they're just porting over the tour versions of the courses which aren't nearly as good-looking as the courses in the base MK8 game. And not to say graphics are everything, but it's a big factor of why I like MK8 so much. Also, MK Tour doesn't have anti-grav so I doubt these DLC courses will either. Definitely a quantity over quality kind of thing with this DLC.
