    Really good tutorial.
I had written out about 45-50 pages of notes, story plots, motives and character profiles, but was having problems turning this mountain of info into a game. This tutorial is pure gold. Really helpful. With this and your other 6 tutorials in the series I was able to create a structure and finalise the evening. Thank you

Jonathan, thanks for your question. After the details of the homicide are revealed, the suspects give opening statements that indicate they are under suspicion by authorities. It then becomes apparent that investigators should focus their attention on these individuals and no one else. Happy sleuthing.

Thanks heaps for these videos. I ran a murder mystery having never played one before, and none of the guests had played one. And it went great. Couple hick ups, but pretty good overall.
And then my brother ran one more recently, and he knocked it out of the park. He asked for a tutorial or reference and I sent him here

Thanks for this video. Might you have any tips for a Theft mystery for my wedding? I want to make it around the lines of stolen jewelry at the hotel we are getting ready at. Maybe 6 characters. The maid, bellboy, hairstylist, makeup artist, an aunt, the hotel manager. All who had access to the room and the advantage if a distracted bride. Any input helps. Thanks so much!

these videos are a great help, i am putting the finishing touches on a "1940s mafia speakeasy" murder mystery for a work function. i did mine kinda different every one is going to be given an envelope with their character and their motive and alibi in it. and every one has to interigate/question each other after the murder takes place as well as find hidden evidence i have placed around the area of the party. the way im doing it, the murderer wont even know they're the murderer unless they piece it together. i know the way im doing it isnt the usual, but do you have any tips none the less?

    What about serial killers, Jack?
I was watching a show called mindhunter which is about the FBI agents who first uncovered what a serial killer was and the big problem they had to tackle was motive. Mainly because serial killers dont have a motive so much as a pathological MO.
Say you wanted to host a dinner party for friends you enjoy watching horror movies with, and you want to write a mystery around a serial killer. Does a motive need to exist still? If not, would that spike the difficulty way too high?

Timothy Scully If you were to use a psychopathic killer, you would need to give clues about the subject’s deteriorating mental health. Some medicine with his name, physician’s logs, etc. It also may be helpful to, even if there is not a valid motive, provide some cause for a vendetta against the first victim to get the ball rolling. Make the first victim someone the killer knew.

is it okay if we write about the murder's point of view like what they are thinking about as the investigators try to reveal him/her? I'm writing my murder mystery and i'm having a writer's block and i'm unsure if that's okay
by the way i'm turning 13 in a few months

Ash, since you're writing a mystery novel, you can take a unique perspective to your story. A caution: make sure that your "self-talk" is consistent with research into the criminal mind. Some of your readers will be familiar with it and will challenge your plot unless it makes sense with what's known.
