Fantastic, thank you!
Glad I could help.
How do you ensure that the smoking gun clue does not get discovered/revealed until the right moment?
Thanks for your question. Since I’m the one who drops that clue, I can determine the timing. Regards, Jack
Thank you so so much! I'm so excited to organize my murder mystery. This has been so helpful ✨️🤩
I've actually been writing a murder mystery party for my wife's birthday. I developed the story and all the characters and am going through and writing the character sheets. I thought it might be useful to watch some videos on how these parties are set up and go. A lot of what you said I've actually done already! So much so, that what you mentioned about relationships, I actually came up with almost the exact same formula! 1) People your character knows well 2) People your character has a reasonable acquaintance with 3) People your character knows the name of and why they might be around (ie, a famous person or a friend of a friend) 4) People your character doesn't know
Sounds like you’re ready to go. Have a good night of sleuthing!
Please stop smacking when you talk. Drink some water
Props to the guy on the stairs for lying lifeless for the whole recording
I am extremely impressed by your excitement and expect your mystery writing career to skyrocket. My role in that rise to whodunit stardom is graciously noted.
It’s so hard to get through these videos without rewinding a hundred times or pausing and taking notes as my mind is constantly flooded with solid ideas on each point you make. Case in point: One of my characters will be named Peppermint Patty. Not an original name, but it is catchy, and the girl who will play her is named Patty, but most importantly, I will have her love peppermints, and have a handful in her pocket. She will give a few out throughout the party. The victim will be found will a peppermint next to him or in his pocket as both a clue and a red herring. I love creating this party!
I'm not really sure if it was intended to be absurdist humor, but it had me crying with laughter a couple minutes in. Anyway, it's a great guide for mystery design in general, which is what I came here for. Thanks!
Crime fighting can be rigorous. A little levity is always a welcome relief. Enjoy the series.
did that dead body just move...and..and.. breatheeeee😨😨😧😦
He looks great but that white triangle of stomach distracts me.
youuuuu da man! love ya buds! made my mind come alive with ideas!!
This was extremely helpful, I think it set the perfect foundation for my brain when it came to thinking of all the contents of the murder mystery I hosted yesterday for my 21st birthday. We had 13 suspects plus me as the role of narrator/detective/victim and it was a huge success. I also incorporated some drinking rules and unanimously won the prize of my own raffle that I set up for "best portrayal of their character". You are right, BE THEATRICAL!!! People love it! I also had 7 hours of sleep in a span of over 72 hours the 3 days coming up with clues. For those who want to host a MM party and take it seriously, prepare for something similar to happen to you. I genuinely enjoyed every second of it tho. Thank you, Jack!
Many thanks, Josh. It’s gratifying for me to assist a fellow sleuth. Kudos for your successful investigation and arrest.
Very nice!! Cute hat btw
Thanks heaps for these videos. I ran a murder mystery having never played one before, and none of the guests had played one. And it went great. Couple hick ups, but pretty good overall. And then my brother ran one more recently, and he knocked it out of the park. He asked for a tutorial or reference and I sent him here
I’m always pleased to assist with an investigation.
Anyone else: “Ah! A dead body!” This man: *great, this is a good learning experience if you want to host a party!*
thank you so much
My sleuthful pleasure.
Thank you.
I’m trying to make a murder mystery game where the host play to but idk how to do that. Do you know how to do that?
This is awesome! Thank you! I'm organizing a murder mystery event for the town I live in and this is giving me some great ideas on how to plan it.
How do all these clues come out? Everyone can't just have all their info in the beginning right? Do you real things over time or do charctures start with their like 1/10 of the info
games i've played have rounds, and each round gave more info, plus you have to talk to other players since none of them have all the info.
Love this👏
Np one mentioning the ghost?
Thanks for this! ♥️
that guy is still breathing, maybe, it is not a murder..
It's just gas escaping.
You make a Chief Inspector blush with pride.
Hi this is great information! I'm Begining to write my first murder mystery party. I'm going to hire out a castle here in Ireland for it once covid has died down. I'm planning on giving my friends a night to remember! Can't wait to learn from you 😁🍀
You da man!
Jonathan, thanks for your question. After the details of the homicide are revealed, the suspects give opening statements that indicate they are under suspicion by authorities. It then becomes apparent that investigators should focus their attention on these individuals and no one else. Happy sleuthing.
Question, so at the beginning of the party do we reveal do we reveal who is a suspect and non suspect? Also if we do reveal it to the audience do we reveal each suspects motive?
You're in France in 1942. The German Government Building is holding a party for Hitler's Birthday. The lieutenant has been killed in his office, who did it? Was it a random resistance hit, or is someone disloyal to the party?
Thanks, Antonio. You’ll have a ball.
Dude thanks for being both informative AND hilarious, I love these videos, can't wait to plan out my own murder mystery for my pals My mans does this all in one take too like, what a king. Shoutout to the corpse guy too, he really killed it
im hosting a murder mystery for online school so students could have fun during their online meetings. thanks!
Outstanding! I’m now hosting online murder mystery parties. (www.playmurdermysteries.com) The world has changed and we have to adapt.
You’re my favorite person rn!! Thank you so much
I’m honored.
Maybe, it was not a murder, it was an accident, that was the worst maintained chainsaw I have ever seen. 😂😂 Love the video, sooooo much info, I have watched it 10 times already, and I am still making notes. Thank you
Thanks, Tony. Many murders are disguised as accidents, and after being used as a murder weapon, a chainsaw shows signs of rigorous use. Enjoy writing your mystery. I’m glad I was able to assist you.
Really good tutorial. I had written out about 45-50 pages of notes, story plots, motives and character profiles, but was having problems turning this mountain of info into a game. This tutorial is pure gold. Really helpful. With this and your other 6 tutorials in the series I was able to create a structure and finalise the evening. Thank you
Were you able to host the event?
Thankyou very much this was helpful, I’m organising a party for only 4 people have you got any ideas of what character could be what for only 4 people?
I was looking for a video exactly like this! Thank you so much it really helps a lot...I am writing a mystery dinner about the corona virus but there is no murder involved...it's about who destroyed the anitdot 😁
What is this song!?!?
Thank you for sharing! I am now motivated to plan one myself!
Wow. What a tool
Nobody: The voice of God at 1:53: *thats not a good enough motive for murder*
hey can you make more videos
4:33
Thanks, hank pym
BOOOOOoooooooo! (I just got to the names part)
Planning a murder mystery dinner
skip to 3:43 to miss his red herring rant
Okay but I cannot for the life of me find any source on what exactly a Murder Mystery Dinner Party is. I can only find articles and videos on how to host a MMDP.
