Prey 2017 is genuinely one of my favorite games of all time, people always talk about dishonored but the story, the station, and characters were so well written and genuinely an immersive experience, I play it like once a year and always have a blast

I also have an annual playthrough of Prey (the whole Dishonored series too). These are some of the most imaginative, well designed, fun, exploratory games I’ve ever played. This level of quality game design is rare and wish that it was
      a) a standard that more game developers aimed to achieve and…
      b) that more gamers sought out these types of games to increase the chances of them being made.

Great game. Such a shame it underperformed. All thanks to Bethesda's decision to force the developers to adopt the Prey title. The game director (Raphaël Colantonio) was furious for this. Years in the making, and had to be released that bears the name that had absolutely nothing with another good game (2006 game from Human Head Studios). After this game's launch, 70% of Arkane Studios staff had it enough (resigned, quit)💢❌

I would love more videos like this on the channel. It’s nice to see more “underdog” type games get shout outs from bigger CZcams channels like Gameranx because it gets more of people’s attention.
That being said if there’s more to this series I’d love a shoutout to T’chia. It was a really relaxing and beautiful game with a focus on exploring the world naturally instead of just through objectives and that was as such a breath of fresh air. I may be biased since it’s a game centered around the Pacific Islands and as a pacific islander it meant a lot to me to see some broader representation but I had a great time grinding the platinum trophy for it. 😊

Thanks for this! Back in the late 90's (or early 2000s) a game called Giants Citizen Kabuto came out. It had single and multiplayer. 3 factions that were very different from each other, as well as any other game. It just wasn't marketed and didn't get the love I think it deserved. My buddies and I played the heck out of it and to this day miss it and hope for a reboot for modern machines! If you ever do a video on "Oldies but goodies" or "Blast from the past" or "Remember these games?" or "Best unknown games of the 90s", I hope you give this one some love so more people hear of it and the chances are increased that it gets revived!

    • @minhuang8848

Fenyx is a goddamn open-world masterpiece. People were griping pretty hard about the humor, but Prometheus and Zeus bickering and quipping is the highlight for me, never mind certain other roles in the game.
It's not perfect, but almost every tedious aspect of games like BotW have been turned into fun traversal, combat, and even puzzles (subject to subjectivity). The world looks gorgeous with all the little biomes and many secrets and what not, the climbing mechanics are really, really great, even for a Ubi game... people seriously slept on it, although it was pretty well-received. If you can go at it without preconceptions and like something in the vein of these games, and if you aren't a stick in the mud about having humorous, Greek mythology-related dialog, this might become one of your favorite games.
Combat is super fun too, great power creep.

I have a decent record of hours played with 7DTD, I love it, but yes, it needs to get out of Alpha. With the updated unreal engine, there are other zombie games in early access that are essentially copying the 7DTD formula but with waaay better graphics. If they don't figure out on how to get out from Alpha soon, some other developer will simply take their winning formula and run away with it, and 7DTD will just be remembered as another game that the devs went too greedy with.

    • @Amins88
      @Amins88 Před 7 měsíci +1

7 Days To Die was one of my favorite games for years, but I can't in good conscious recommend anyone play it anymore with the developers incredible lack of direction and overall disdain for their community. They've improved the game in a lot of really great ways over the years, the design of interiors is incredible and the game looks nothing like what is shown in this video anymore. But they constantly redesign major mechanics of the game, remove features and can't decide on what they want their game to be.
When I first started playing, a lot of people were complaining that they changed player progression from "Learn by Doing" to Perk-Based Leveling. As much as I would have preferred the former, I had no frame of reference, so it wasn't a huge deal for me at the time. But now they've completely changed it yet again to this weird "Learn By Finding Magazines In Loot" system that is entirely reliant on RNG and totally unbalanced. So even if you enjoy what the game is at the start, they will most certainly gut it into something you don't want down the line. They have gone on record saying "They don't understand why they need to finish the game" and "We only listen to feedback that praises us and supports our decisions", while actively berating anyone who has issues with their decisions on their forums, all while they still refuse to fix major game-breaking issues that have plagued the game for years. It's a real shame because 7 Days To Die was probably close to one of my dream games before it started down the path of just another generic zombie shooter.

half the npcs are missing mission dialogue audio but the story was kinda ahead of its time warning about the danger of post-nation-state 'Sovereigns' [Thiel types who want to return to tech powered feudalism] The world environment is cool. The bullet spongy combat gets old tho. So does the terrible wooden vehicle handling.

7 Days to Die has a rather solid fanbase to it and gets decent player numbers.
The largest issue folks might run into is going at it solo. You can play it solo, but it is far more entertaining with friends. You also wont run into as many stumbling blocks with friends unless you crank up the spawn rate on Bloodmoon Nights. Spawn rate on that is PER PERSON actively in the world at the start of a Bloodmoon so just be aware of that.
Once you get a solid foundation in the base game, there are mod packs to make it...more intense. So you can get a solid several hundred hours out of the game as long as you enjoy it and definitely play with friends, it makes it all the better.

It wasn't actually exclusive at all on any platform, since it launched on two platforms ;) (Xbox and PC.)
(Also, just like all the other Bloober team games, it's essentially a glorified walking simulator.)

@@imitenotbeIf "being pedantic" means the word "exclusive" actually meaning exclusive, then yes, I guess I want to "be pedantic". (And frankly, calling it "Microsoft exclusive" is just a really silly way of insisting on calling it "exclusive" simply for the sake of being able to call it that.)

Loved this list. It really highlights some interesting games that I never considered.

As someone that grew up on the OG Ghost Recon games and played a part of me going into the Army, I can say after the Army, the current iterations are amazing. Yeah, they have some issues, but it's the closest I've been to being deployed again.

Astral chain is genuinely so good. The combat especially takes some time to get used to, but it's so satisfying. I might want to start playing again.

I remember jumping into squadrons when it released and , with my newly aquired Elite Dangerous space sim flight skills, totally dominated for a couple of days. Maybe i should jump back in someday.
