This bottle has single handedly ruined whisky for me. It is perhaps the best whisky I have ever tasted. Easy win in a blind I had with 4 friends and 6 "elite" single malts. This whisky is incredible.
Good review my friend. Hope you were shrewd enough to stock up on a bunch of these, with what I've read about this bottling, it could be worth a mad fortune in over a decade
There's no way we could get this in Ontario but I have some comparative bottles from several years ago which I have not even opened yet, I have 2 of the Adelphi 1994 Bowmore 23 yr at 54 abv and also a couple Blackadder Raw Cask 2002 Bowmore 17 yr at 53.4 abv, will have to suffice with these, back when I purchased them (from Alberta) they were very reasonably priced and even on sale so I was fortunate to have gotten them. Cheers Mark and enjoy your bottle's (sans car) for New Years Eve!
Hi Robert, wow those sound next level as well. How dark is the Adelphi?? I have a bottle of Teaninich from them and it is as dark as night!! Blackadders are always nice. Thanks my friend and all the best in 2023!! Wish I had that DB5!!!😜 Cheers🥃🥃🥃🥃
@@WhiskyWhistle The Adelphi Bowmore is moderately dark but I also purchased a few Adelphi 29 yr old 1988 Glen Grant's (56abv)as well at the same time and they are very dark but they are first fill sherry so guess that's why. I saw that Teaninich of yours a few years ago and yeah it's one of the darkest I have seen & sold out pretty quick. Cheers
Passed on this and bought 2 x First Edition Ben Nevis 1997 refill Sherry cask 23 year old cask strength at Sierra for $226 Cad each. Had a sample of the Aston Martin, very good but Bowmore limited editions are out of control price wise.
I think I have that Ben Nevis. It’s definitely a big whisky. Indie’s definitely offer better value. You’re right - it seems everywhere but here it’s stupid expensive. $900 at zyn??? Nuts. For me the question is, do I want to go without an aged Bowmore or not - the indie Bowmore prices are even pricier! I am hoping we see another Tempest style Bowmore out as James Neil told me Vault Edition is dead. If I do have that Ben Nevis let’s have a virtual dram of it sometime. Cheers🥃🥃🥃🥃
Well done Mark. This 21 yr for me when tried recently at a masterclass, was superior to the 25 yr when tasted head to head. Love that bottling, and wished I didn’t miss out here but I did. Cheers Mark and the beard is 👍👍. 🥃🥃🥃
There tends to be some hype at first, and then it’ll get into a more natural rate of increase. The good things are the higher strength, the all but published cask disclosure, and the collaboration with Aston Martin. Let’s hope whisky maintains similar popularity over the next few decades. Cheers🥃🥃🥃🥃
So funny reading all these ridiculous comments by others. Don't people understand supply and demand? Once age statements go away this thing may actually end up selling for $3K....No longer such a dumb idea to buy for 600....HOWEVER I would not spend that much myself and thank YOU Mark for letting us live vicariously=)
Hi Roy -thanks! Try and get a tasting from a local retailer - plus gotta send you glass & eventually T shirt so might come with something extra. Cheers Crewmate🥃🥃🥃🥃🥃
Well, I haven’t had it so I can’t really say, but what I will say is, the price sure went up. It will I’m sure be amazing but it’s hard to talk about value at that price unless someone is a die hard Bowmore fan. Cheers🥃🥃🥃
Great whisky, but not worth chasing IMO! Haven’t tasted some of these flavours in any OB/IB Bowmore release in quite some time. All that said… very happy to have it.
UW Scotch Classic was fortunate to be able to taste two bottles of this! One of the most popular bottles at our tasting! Stood up well to 35 yo Benromach, 35 yo AnCnoc, 40yo Glenfarclas and 34 yo Dailuaine!!! #reddeerwhiskyclub
A good Xmas bottle. Actually at Vincenzo’s in Waterloo but it seems readily available in T.O - I just asked them if they have a Winnipeg stockist. I’ll update if so! I have a spare Islay water for you to try. Cheers Ron🥃🥃🥃🥃
Collaborating with a premium carmaker allows a distillery to charge Aston Martin style prices for whisky... I would keep walking if I had an opportunity to buy.
Then you'd be missing out and more for someone else. a third is super old rare whisky in a price point that's more than fair only, so what if it has the Aston Martin name on it, u heard his review and his score of 95 for exception whisky so yeah keep walking
This is a great whisky Mark. Couldn’t agree more.
Thanks Rob. Now I can watch your review!! Amazing you guys got it back in the spring. Winnipeg is always last…😵

Thanks Seth! I def bought what I could. Wish I could have gotten more but it’s that time of year!
Cheers my friend🥃🥃🥃🥃
I got a bottle but had to source from Vancouver, paid $100 over mrsp. I can live with that.
That’s decent. They put a lot of great casks into this one. The new 22 is out of my league unless it’s cheaper here in Manitoba!

Been waiting for this review! Didnt fail to disappoint! Well done :)

As a sipper, worth the price, as an investment .. a no brainer for the price. I got a case of the Aston martins.

Roy, but wouldn't that then apply to any age statement whisky, like the dud that is, say ... Auchentoshan 18?
@@jonathanbean7097 Yes it would but the price of appreciation depends on the reviews and Mark had a great review here, my friend.
