John Deere Synchro Range Transmission Top Shaft Removal and Rebuild - JD 2010

In this video I detail what I did to remove and rebuild the top shaft in the synchro range transmission from my 1960 John Deere 2010. The reason I needed to do this project is because the tractor would pop out of all 3 reverse gears as soon as I started to let the clutch out. Completing this project completely eliminated the reverse gear issues.

Where did you get the new friction and synchro plates? Mother Deere?

where the tubes came out, to split the tractor, you showed you bent one, the cover has three bolts, correct? is there a seal under the cover? mine is leaking from there.

The tubes that I showed bent is what carries hydraulic fluid to and from the remote hydraulic valve. I believe the valve is only held on by 2 bolts on my 2010. I also have an adaptor plate the bolts up to the ports and allows you to plumb a loader to it. That is also held on by 2 bolts. The tubes drop into a machined pocked (both in the tractor and into the valve or adaptor) that have a groove for an o ring to fit in. So the O-ring against the tube is what seals the fluid.

I've had it for quite some time. I think I bought it online for $10 or so. Either that or I found a free download of it online.
