With this DIY garage wood kiln, I am able to dry lumber in 3 weeks, rather than the 1-2 years that it would take to air dry. I give all the details in this video including something that was a game changer for the effectiveness of the kiln that I didn't get on video. At the end of the video you will see the results of the kiln. Link for the moisture meter - amzn.to/4c1tMNN

I always change the fluid after 400 miles. Yes it will have fine metallics.
If the rearend gear set was new…and the backlash set right…I wouldn’t worry about redoing gearlube….you can however service it on 80-90k intervals and see good life….what I don’t see is the vent hose …that’s important and should be mounted high especially if you dock boats with your truck
My 2001 gm 10 bolt rear end has the g80 locker in it and I have a drain plug to drain and fill fluid I only replace cover gasket once it leaks I change my fluid every 10k
I have the same problem with my 1000 gallon propane tank. I tried lifting it with the car hydraulic jack to reposition it and just made it worse. This was about 3 years ago. It's been working fine despite my best efforts to "fix" it.
Awesome video subbed and liked.
That was horrible to watch you clean that mating service and toque those bolts down
just fuckin tap one yourself cunt fucking lazy generation
The term is "case hardening" not "hard casing".
You are correct. I overthink what I am saying every time I record something and it comes out jumbled sometimes. It feels weird when there is potentially millions of people listening to you. Good catch.
You stole someones delivery of insulation! 😅
Haha
HAHA! Definitely not. It was literally stacked on their garage can.
Amazing video I love your stuff!
Thank you Sir! Do you like the variety or would you rather see just woodworking content?
Make a drain bolt yourself
Good point.
@@craftzmanchris9859 i know🤣easy when it was opened
The usual reason is that they don't want home mechanics to work on it.
Oh yeah, break in fluid change for sure…the only truck I’ve ever done that with is my duramax, can you guess why?😁
Some do have drain bolts. Most companies will have a recommendation on break in period for ring and pinion generally i like to change the oil and inspect the gears at 500 miles. Also i dont run synthetic gear oil in differentials that is quite a debated topic. I do use synthetic in some diffs actually but not many.
The theory for older vehicles was that the gear oil is going to last as long as you drive the vehicle and if you wanted to change said oil, you would want to check the gears for irregular wear- at least that's what I was taught.
To answer your first question. Don’t ask a mechanic. Ask an engineer.
American cars don't come with drain bolts 😂🤣😂
Because engineers are retarded.
I've read a manual before that said you need to change after 50,000 or after so many months but Idk many people that ever do it I don't
Rotational torque 😂
Just drill a hole, weld on a nut and plug it. Bingo drain hole.
You don't need to change the intervals for rear end replace regularly. Engine break in gets from cam, berring and most of all cylinder mating surfaces the rear end if properly installed has much less friction with thicker oil.
See this all the time in heatpumps- but they are usually vertical like ' ride the lightning'
On old cars it's so you would be forced to visually inspect the planetary gears, on new cars it's so you have to go to the dealership. New Honda all wheel drives still have drain bolts.
I guess you never heard of a ball peen hammer 😂
It forces one to clean the rear instead of just draining the oil and leaving the metal behind. (No separate filter) And yes it's a good idea change the oil far more often than anyone says or doesn't say.
Why a 2X4 is not 2 inches by four inches, etc.
When it is rough sawn it is but after they plane and joint the board it takes of material resulting in a smaller dimension
@@timothycox6759but it always used to be 4x2 after the prep. It no longer is
@@brad15020 The standard sizes for lumber began to change in the early to mid-20th century. The transition wasn't sudden but rather a gradual process influenced by various factors like technological advancements and industry practices. By the 1920s and 1930s, the industry started to adopt smaller, more consistent sizes for planed lumber. The widespread adoption of these standards occurred around the 1940s and 1950s. This period saw the establishment of more formalized standards by organizations like the American Lumber Standards Committee (ALSC), which helped unify the sizing practices across the industry. So, while there isn't a single exact date when the change happened, the shift was mainly solidified between the 1920s and 1950s.
Commenting so i remember to check here after any major fires occur.
Get this man a beer!!! Saved me a bunch of time and frustration. Best video by far.
Thank you! I appreciate the kind words!
I do find it weird that cars and light trucks don't have differential drain plugs but medium duty and heavy duty semi trucks do Yet.. you'll still never see anyone do a fluid service on their own semi truck's differential lmao
I am pretty decent with gear setups, but watched your video as a refresher. Man, for not knowing how to repair the rear, you did a hell of a job and better than what I have seen in a HD truck shop.
Thank you Sir! I appreciate the kind words!
My pfp car has a drain plug on the diff I wonder why others don’t
Have you ever heard a rear end click only when under load? Or is this likely driveshaft u-joints?
Potentially.... This one sounded like a rhythmic hum when there was no tension on the driveline and I was moving over 25mph.
Yes after break in 500 miles drain and inspect after a recent overhaul thats how i do it for my customers!
2019 Honda CR-V AWD, Model LX - Could not find the plug taped for connection. Missing on the wiring harness on my car. I am a pretty good mechanic, so I know what I am looking for. Anyone else run into this problem.
Wow, that is a bummer. You are the first person to bring this up...
Great video, I'm rebuilding mine next week and will be watching this a lot to get through it. Haha, nice job!
Good deal! Thanks for the kind words!
Hun, there's an error code 10-54 on the thermostat. Uh oh.
Once found a mouse fried between the bus bars of two phases, could have easily ended in catastrophe.

Yikes!

It's so you clean out debris, dummy. Need to inspect the splines.
