I had an 04 with the defective 5 speed automatic transmission. Honda didn't own up to the problem when it died. I also had the issue with the head unit dying. That was luckily covered under my extended warranty, thank God, but would otherwise cost like $1000. My friends with these cars had the same issues. When my friend's 04 tranny died, it locked up on him and he damn near crashed the car. The shock to the other components literally caused his head unit to fry at the same time, along with some other electrical components. I also had the brake rotor warping problems, which seemed to plague Accords for like a decade. I finally got Duralast Gold rotors and that fixed the problem.

I did notice that the 2003 and 2008 model years were also the first year that those generation Accords were redesigned. That's proof that first year cars are often best avoided because usually like any other new technical item, there will be some bugs that haven't been worked out yet and it will usually take some time to get those bugs resolved. I have a 2007 Accord with hardly no problems except wear and tear items and the airbag inflators being replaced due to the Takata Airbag recalls and 2007 was the last year of that generation and the last year of a generation is usually the most reliable model.

I hate this car….I have a 2018 Accord and recently change the brakes at the dealership. Car was running great prior to service. Once they gave me the car back I have been hearing a grinding noise from the car. Took it back they said it was because they did not grind them properly. They fixed it and still hearing the same noise but this time it felt like my tires were flat took it back again and they took it in and said it was fixed but never told me what was wrong. A week later the car is still doing the same noise. It feels like I’m driving with a flat tire or a nail in the tires which they changed. I have an appointment with them for a third time in three weeks. I don’t know what else to do. They won’t drive it to hear the noise.

I have 03 Accord EX V6 Coupe (that i bought new) that now has 105k miles and that I’ve taken really good care of. I've had new tires, brake pads, rotors turned, headlight bulbs which is normal maintanence/wear and tear. But 3 months ago I had the radio unit lights go out which is very common as this video says. A new circuit board would fix it but Honda doesn’t make this part anymore. An OEM radio unit is $1200. I tried a couple salvage units but they didn’t work. So I replaced with new aftermarket touchscreen radio with ac/heat controls. Part and labor cost around $350. This whole ordeal was a pain, but more cost effective and an upgrade to newer vehicles that don’t have CD players anymore. I love my Honda and will buy a Honda again when mine wears out which I’m hoping I have another 10 years. Fingers crossed!

I can recall multiple minor issues within the first 100,000 (all of them were taken care of by warranty at that point). knock-on wood, I have not had transmission issues nor major engine issues and it has 199,000miles at this point. I did promise myself that I would never purchase another car in its' first complete re-design year, though. What a joke. The transmission problems were for the earlier V6 accords (most accords are 4 cylinders), the 2003 accord can still be seen on the streets In droves and the one we had put up with a lot of abuse and lack of maintenance prior to me crashing and totaling it. We also had an 07 accord that was practically the same as the 03 (also abused etc.). Other than the V6 transmission issues, I don’t think a lot of the issues mentioned here are anything to worry about, but rather just routine maintenance issues.

I have a 2001 Accord. I haven't had a tranny problem. My question is, is it for the auto or the 5 speed? Because I have the 5 speed and it has 310,000 miles and no engine or tranny problem at all. I changed the radiator due to a crack and the water pump seal breaking. That was at 280,000 miles. The only complaint I have for mine is that the paint for the 6th gen Accord (1998-2002) was absolutely trash. A major problem that not a lot of people might not know about has to be the rust on the subframe due to the ac drip that sits on top of the subframe. My Accord has taken me everywhere with no problem. I drove all around California and drove it to Texas.

I have had great experience with Accords. I bought a 1998 Accord in 2001 and it lasted me until 2014 without major issues. Biggest repair was a clutch master cylinder at 110,000 miles and I did it myself, no big deal. After that a few rear sway bar links. I then bought a 2014 Sport 6MT and it has been flawless for over 100K until a brake caliper seized.

I owned a 2007 Accord six speed and a 2014 Honda Accord Touring. Both had major issues. The 07 I bought brand new and there were problems with the headlights. The warranty constantly fixed them, but made four trips in the span of 1.5yrs to the dealership for repairs. Sold that car in 2017. Bought the 2014 a week later. It only had 26k miles on it. Drove it cross country twice. No problems. It wasn't until right before I was ready to trade it in that it started having issues. The entire gauge cluster would fail in mid drive. It was weird. All the cruise control options would stop working too. But the car would still drive like normal, even the radio worked. Power steering was sketchy when the gauge cluster acted a fool. This was all around the 127k mile marker. Also, she had problems with her starter around the 77k mile marker.
I just bought a 2020 EX-L. So far, it's been alright. Except for the auto braking feature. I'll be on the freeway and the car will suddenly activate this feature for no apparent reason. It's happened only a handful of times, but that is concerning.

My 2018 Accord 1.5T just had a fuel injector fail at 58k error code P0172 (posted on my channel). Modern Honda look amazing but once the 3yr/36k warranty expires you're on your own and you have no idea how expensive modern Honda engines are to fix. Oil changed at 80%, Shell regular used 80% of the time, always did warm up the car in the winter. Dealer so out of touch they recommended brake fluid replacement at 30k. I've never seen this part fail in ANY of my past cars. When asked why the injector failed so early Dealer said they see them all the time and cost of replacement is $1600-$2500 (must replace all 4) and the new injectors warranty is only for 12k/12mos! I was in love and bought the 1st Accord on the lot with series ending in -0001 but when I made a case with Honda to see if it could be part of a bad batch all I got was the VM of the case manager for weeks on end. I fell for all the influencers stating the Accord was the best in it's class.

@@johnhathaway4980 would you say the V6 is more reliable than the V4? I'm looking to buy a 2015. Which one would last longer??

I miss my 2015 Honda Accord. It’s way better than this 2019 Accord I have. I think I’m done with Honda. One more year on my lease and I get to turn it in. Glad I didn’t buy it.

The Joker The 2019 makes a lot of noise. For example, I’ve had a noise (can’t pinpoint where it’s coming from) but sounds like the dashboard. Honda mechanic can’t seem to find the noise. I can hear the gas moving around in the tank when I put on brakes especially after I fill up. Now recently I’m hearing a squeaking. The car sounds like it’s 10 years old. I’m just hitting 12,000 miles. The brake sign comes on and there’s not even anything to brake for. I can be on the street by myself and it will come on. I had to turn that feature off because if you don’t the car will brake for you. The car sits down too low like a low profile car. The material on the seating is very hard to keep clean. I can’t clean them myself. They have to be professionally cleaned. Don’t get the cream color seats. I don’t know what kind of material it is. My 2015 Honda Accord didn’t have this kind of material and was easy to clean. The glove box doesn’t lock. There is no CD player. I don’t like connecting my phone to the car just to hear music. There is so much space between the seats and the console that there is always something falling thru there. I’m quite sure I’m missing a couple of issues. I’m so thankful it’s a lease and will be glad when I can turn it in. I miss my 2015. I had no complaints with the 2015. Look in the Consumers Buying Guide and also goggle reviews and recalls from different sites for 2016 Honda before you buy. Good luck with yours.

Does that mean that I should not get any Accord, at least for the present generation? I mean they are all turbos engines, regardless if you get a 2.0L or a 1.5 L engine.

Look up 1.5T gasoline dilution from Honda on google search. Let me know if you take the 1.5T afterwards.

I am a Honda fan, I love Honda but unfortunately something wrong with the company happened after the air bag’s problem, I wonder how come Honda is using one engine 1.5 Turbo in CRV , Civic, Accord and even in Acura Integra and the lousy CVT in all these models and reliability goes down to 24th and what they don’t care, I really 😮.
