Making EASY MONEY from the JUNKYARD!!

  • One man's trash is another man's treasure. It's become my habit to get everything I need from the junkyard for free, just by grabbing something I can resell for a profit while I'm there. This trip is no exception, not only did I get the parts I needed, I came home with some extra's that I can easily resell at a substantial profit, and they took me less than 30 minutes to get!! You can do it too, you don't need a big budget to build projects, you just need some know how!

    Most people are there buying parts to fix their vehicle they just buy what they need.

      Yes I understand that, I just wish they wouldn't ruin everything attached to what they need in the process. Especially for transmission parts.

    The easy way to move electric seats is to take a drill/impact battery take wires to jump it to the car itself. I do that when I need a small amount of power to get what I need.

    Sadly I see destroyed stuff in the junkyards all the time. Around these parts, they completely destroy back seat and interiors looking for those lost nickels and dimes.. For some unknown reason they also clean out the fuse blocks.. every one of them.. why? I’ve mentioned this many times to the pimple faced kid at the shack when I’m leaving, but they just sit and stare.. they couldn’t care less. I’m sure the owner would freak out. Also I’m seeing more and more idiots taking dumps in the yard.. they typically go in vans and suburbans and let it rip. WTF is up with that? Again.. no one seems to care.

    • @MohawkMotors
      @MohawkMotors  Před 5 měsíci +2

      Yeah, it's frustrating seeing what were really nice, useable parts, destroyed by someone to get a $3 sensor or like you said, for some spare change.
      The fuse block I don't get either, if you need a few fuses sure, but who needs all 56 fuses and 7 relays? I think people just fill their pockets with whatever they can to feel like they're getting one over on the yard.
      Dumps in the yard, especially in the back of vehicles is freaking disgusting. People are animals when they're not monitored.

    • @MohawkMotors
      @MohawkMotors  Před 2 lety

      I hear that a lot. I think it depends on where you're located and how many yards there are. And if you're willing to travel, I've driven over an hour to get to a yard that has what I want.

      @@MohawkMotors my only issue is some yards have maybe one thing I can use, and it’s either overpriced or already destroyed. How do you find good yards?

    • @MohawkMotors
      @MohawkMotors  Před 2 lety

      visit more of them. If they have an online inventory check that first. But the best way to get the good stuff is get out there and look around. I've never been to a yard where I couldn't get something I needed, or get something at junkyard prices that I could sell for a profit.

    Do you have any tips on how to pull 6.0/5.3/4.8 or 4l80e from the junkyard easy/quick? Or can you do a video on how to do it.

    • @MohawkMotors
      @MohawkMotors  Před rokem +1

      Yeah man, cut all the hoses, they're junk anyway, unplug all the connectors, it's easier than cutting the harness, then it's just motor mounts, bellhousing bolts and exhaust. Biggest tip is remember, the guys there before you didn't care what you needed when they cut their parts out with a sawzall, so don't worry about messing up the stuff you don't need, hoses, core support, radiator, cab, etc. 2wd trucks are the easiest to pull engines and transmission out of, then 4x4 trucks, then vans.

    • @MohawkMotors
      @MohawkMotors  Před rokem +4

      For junkyard engines, if it's crashed and the engine spins it's good to go. If it's not crashed, but the engine spins, you can feel compression when you turn it, and the oil isn't glittery, it's good to go. Appreciate the subscription and watching!!

    Does anyone have experience with selling GM Dash pad? I see they sell for several hundred on eBay. My question is... Do they still sell if one or more of the dash clips are broken/missing? Or is it best to just skip listing it all together? Also, any insight on listing/shipping dash/dashboard assembly?

    • @MohawkMotors
      @MohawkMotors  Před rokem

      If you can get it out in one piece without any broken clips, cracks, peeling color, etc, and you have a warehouse shelf to store it on until you find a buyer. In the 5 years I've been parting out the GMT 800 trucks and suvs I've sold 4 dash pads/covers and only for 60 to 70 dollars a piece. If people are actually selling them for several hundred on ebay (being listed, and actually selling, are very different things) it's got to be because they are reaching an international market. The next thing would be figuring out how to ship them without getting damaged, they are so brittle and fragile, 95% of them break just removing them from the vehicle.

      In some cases I totally understand, but what in there are they taking? Solenoids? LKQ charges $40 each for them, new ones are almost the same price and you know they're good. Filters? Again new ones are under $20 and not already full of junk. I totally get that in some cases getting used parts from the junkyard makes total financial sense, but in the case of these 4l80's, which by the way, I can't see any parts missing from, I just don't understand it.
