About time TFL review the Machindra Roxor. Now, compare it with the actual Jeep Willys. The guy driving the Roxor through the mud/ice pit doesn't know how to off-road. Smh...Roxor for the win though. It was the one that broke all of the ice for the other side-by-sides. Fyi, no one rides on traiks a full straight 8 hours. They take breaks in between the trail riding. Don't be a wuss, man up.

These units aren't even in the same class. Comparing the Roxor to the current UTV’s is like comparing a Chihuahua to a working dog. One is quick, agile, noisy and fun to ‘play’ with and the other will perform its duties with capability and determination. I will never go back to a plastic, ear drum busting, over rev’d, heat producing, rubber band drive unit. My Rhino has 19,000 miles on it and is completely worn out. Just about everything has been fixed or replaced. And I'm tired of having to dismantle plastic to add oil every 250 miles. The Roxor will have that kind of milage and just need a few oil changes. I have one and I love my Roxor, so I am speaking from the experience of having both. I was looking at replacing my Rhino and I was leaning towards the Honda Pioneer, but then I came across the Roxor and I am glad I did before I bought a Pioneer.

In the end, $600 and I have 4 more inches on my Roxor. $900 and new mudders that are wayyyy better then stock Roxor tires. I’m running 32 inchers now. I tuned the engine for $600. It is a freakin beast!!! My tube plastic sidexsides were continually busting. Don’t think about adding tracks to a Polaris. I bought my Roxor from a Polaris store. Yes, Polaris is fluffy and fun to cruise but now I can tell you my Roxor will blow it away and guess what....it will blow it away for wayyyyy longer then a regular sidexside will last. The belt ones stand up if you don’t work them in the heat. But my Roxor can run all day working hard. I don’t use mine as a trail Princess, it’s used for hauling wood and soon plowing snow. I have a Western v-Plow going on and have 2 miles of valley road to push, something I would never do with a plastic unit. I couldn’t afford the cab and heater for those things, way overpriced plastic stuff, over Rev’d, heat producing, rubber band drive just can’t handle in the heat or cold. And I don’t need ear plugs anymore. Tired of the screaming hot noisy engine between the seats and all the plastic. I’ll take a 4 cylinder diesel under a steel hood out front where it should be, with a real drive train. Drive train and suspension? Based off of proven Willys and CJ designs, better. Lack of electronic devices? Better. All steel construction vs, plastics? Better. The Roxor is a vehicle, the other 2 are toys in my opinion. And price? A new example of what is basically a 50's jeep is somewhat priceless given today's market of overhyped play things. I love these types of comparisons, but they always have one fatal flaw.. Tires. You can’t accurately compare suspension systems, drive lines, power, and everything else in the hills, mud, and in the tough stuff if they all have different tires. That’s where everything else comes together and meets the dirt. An entire vehicle can seem inferior just by having a less capable tire. You can always compare numbers, like power, ground clearance etc., but to compare drivability and a vehicles overall performance in similar conditions, they need to all run the same tire.

Just like the biased review that got yall blacklisted by Subaru this one is also incredibly slanted against Mahindra. A "fair" comparison would be against a diesel Polaris Ranger, Kawasaki Mule, or Kubota RTV since they are all diesel powered tools instead of toys. Anyone that intended to use the Roxor like you did would change the tires and add locking diffs which is easy to do considering how close Mahindra stayed to Jeep specs. Warn components are literally plug and play. If you are using it to haul hay bales around a farm it is perfect right off the show room floor and in that situation it absolutely dominates the other two. It tows more and the mechanicals will outlast the others. We have a Ranger XP and it is nothing but squeaks, rattles, and component failure and aren't much cheaper than the Roxor. They can even be optioned up to be more expensive.

I noticed that some of these comments are over five years old. Makes me wonder how many of those “superior “ side by sides are still so wonderful? I live in TN and have many friends with side by side’s, they are always working on them and modifying them. They come home from a weekend running them around and work on them so they can do it again. I would think the Roxor is probably a lot less “needy” when it comes to needing work. Sure you might pay more for the Roxor, but, I’m confident it will last longer.

  • @INDIAN-kq6yo

Roxor is not exclusively made for sidebyside. It is kind of forced sidebyside. So comparing it with established sidebyside doesnt make any sense. Again it is not just driving along the trails. there are so many things you want do like snow plowing etc. see you need roxor for ice breaking and making a path for others. If you do the tug of war, roxor can pull three of these sidebyside. the diesel engine in roxor is a proven motor sold in big numbers. They are capable of clocking 600000 + km before rebuild. you can rebuild it after that. those gasoline engines are simply no match.

The newer model roxors have all sorts of options including full lockers. You can now get them tuned and they make some pretty serious power. However, I don't think of the roxor as a "trail" rig, whatsoever. To me, this is a farm/ranch/large property, utility vehicle. Because of the weight, low end torque, and the way its built, it will do work side by sides, can only attempt. And it will do it rather easily. When I think of the roxor, the last thing I think of is, "recreation". To me, it's a tool; a work vehicle. I think the difference would be, in a roxor, you DO work, but can have SOME fun with it. And that's on a very limited basis. When I think of utility side by sides, I think of machines that can do LIGHT work and can quite readily have some fun.
To me they are just completely different animals. Ya know, comebto think about it, I've never even heard of anyone including or comparing the roxor with side by sides. So, there's that as well.

Trans parts are only sold through mahindra and are very overpriced. It’s cheaper and better to get an old Jeep and to build it into what you want.
