The regular hybrid is the best choice for most people.
That's what mast er chef say most oreopl prat regular hybrdd exo bost. Don't need plug inbhybrrd or even resolution hybedd edco bist fmgiid enogh dut add exosive cost
Hybrid XLE with FWD is definitely the best option for most people. AWD is definitely good for those up north or with sloppy weather
Yes, but the Platinum won’t offer that
The best and the most efficient option is a diesel engine.
@vezyrvezyr8165 wrong. Best hybred disele
I have 6500 miles on my GH Hybrid Max. I am averaging 26.5 mpg. The on board computer has been anywhere from right on, to off by 3.5 mpg, so I always do hand calculations. I love the car.
Great job best brothers at car reviews! ❤
thanks for the honest review. This and the Lexus TX500h are my top choices to replace my 17 Highlander. Have never been happy with my 17 and I think the Hybrid Max GH or TX500h is the way to go. Glad to see the 28.33 mpg on your test drive!
If u dont mind the trade off of ride quality, go for the GH, cuz it uses 87, TX uses 91, which defeat the purpose of saving gas. But i like better ride, so i ordered the TX, will pick up tmr morning!
Great video!😸
Great video. The hybrid max will be the best choice for long term ownership enjoyment.
Love these reviews on vehicles hardly anybody can get. They make about 1 hybrid or every 10 gas and everyone wants them. Have fun with your year plus waits. Got me a gas xle.
You gotta do the tfl method. Fill till click wait 30 seconds and one top off click.. air bubbles can throw the numbers off…. Needless to say it would not make that much of a difference so very impressive results
I like to know if you put the normal tire pressure specs on all tires before doing this?
U got the right spot to hold the cap, you just neeed to put it on tight
You guys should change the name of your channel to Batman and Robin. Holy Car Confections, Batman!
Thank you for sharing this info! I get on my GH ( hybrid max )approx 29mpg on highway driving. Newbie on your channel! Great informative videos.
Welcome to the channel! Thanks for your support!
@@CarConfections👍🏻
How many liters are there in your gallons?
@@bmwsupreme5908about 3.8 liters to 1 gallon
Great job guys, keep it up.
Hi guys, Sequoia and Grand Highlander are not available in our market in GCC Countries ,Specifically in Saudi Arabia. I don't know why, I like so much the grand Highlander. How can I buy this car. There is any chance they will be in this region this year or next year.
It is always best to use the two click method when filling. Especially if you are checking MPG. When filling the tank, let it auto click off, then wait 30 seconds to let everything settle in the tank. Then, manually fill a second time with the lever fully on until it clicks off again. I believe this is a pretty sound method because in my experience, after waiting 30 seconds, sometimes the auto off will shut off almost immediately, and other times, it will add a considerable amount of fuel. Make sure you do this every time you fill the tank to ensure you are getting the most accurate MPG on the vehicle.
Thanks for the tip! We will take it into consideration
Really interesting video, it would be great to do a similar one with the TX 500 H. Just to see if the calculation on the Lexus is more or less accurate, and if it’s worth the price difference to go The luxury model. Great video!
Thanks! Hope to do one on the 500h soon
The engines are tuned differently on the Lexus even though it’s the same engine. It also requires premium gas.
Awesome
If you love in good weather the hybrid XLE would suffice.
If you are in the NE or MW, you might want to go with the AWD
I have had mine since August. What drives me nuts is that it reports that its tank is empty when it has 5 more gallons! Anyone else with this problem?
You should probably test the fuel economy of the platinum trim that’s gas powered not hybrid
I'd love a comparison to this Max and the Grand Highlander Hybrid Limited version, please.
I have the Canadian Hybrid limited awd and I'm getting around 7.2l/100km on highways and as low as 5.7l/100km on city/back roads. It's really good if you know how to drive a Toyota hybrid, pulse and glide technique. I just hit 4000km this week. If you dont need to tow, the regular hybrid is definitely the way to go.
How much was the fuel cost total? ⛽
Did you guys reset the trip computer before the trip? The discrepancy may be due to the computer averaging since the car was in service. Also there is no stop/start in a hybrid
We did reset the trip computer.
I loved my 2022 sienna XLE AWD hybrid (same power train as the GH hybrid AWD).
A vehicle that big and I averaged 32-36 mpg.
My GH Max has a gas cap holder. Were you able to actually fill the tank without it cutting off early ? Been having to really pump the gas in slowly after initial click off in order to fill up more than 11 gallons. I’ve been averaging 28.2 MPG with just local around town.
If it has a 14 gallon tank, like the rav4 hybrid, you’ll never get much more at fill up than 12 mpg.
Typically 10.5-11.5 when gas light comes on for the hybrid rav4.
@@americandude3825 GH has a 17.2 gallon gas tank.
@@johndean4468 dang. Then 11 at fill up from empty is weird. Hope it gets figured out!
I just hit 220k on my 08 5.7L sequoia. Runs like new. But….id like to upgrade. I just keep telling myself it saves me $800 a month. Haha
I have an RX500h (same power train) on the highway I can get low 30's staying the speed limit. In the city with light traffic anywhere from 25 - 28. This is what the instrument panel is telling me though, so either your tester sill needs time to calibrate, or my RX500h is doing the same thing. I guess I should try the fill up calculation method.
Yea u right, u have to own the vehicle for a long time for it to show the real mpg. A week or 2 testing isn't gonna cut it
Good job, Bros! Love me some math.Numbers don't lie...only politicians. I wish that Honda had a hybrid option for the Pilot. It's down nearly 140 lbs/ft compared to the Highlander.
Politicians lie with numbers 😂
Yesss, why pilot doesn’t have hybrid, I don’t know but one thing I know is Honda is losing money to Toyota competition. I like the material quality on Hondas vs Toyotas but I guess they are losing big.If they listen, they should go for grand pilot and hybrid options too
How much is it to fill up from empty? Or close to empty?
If u r looking for rhe best fuel economy do not use the cruise control. Adjust your foot to no pass the ECO line for the most of the time u r able to...makes a huge difference
Hey thank you for the video. Quick question: we just picked up a new 2024 Grand Highlander Hybrid XLE. Car sticker says 35 miles city and 32 miles high way. I have so far driven it 380 miles (50/50 city/highway). It indicates it has 94 miles to empty. This is because I picked it up with a full tank of gas, capacity at 17.2 gallons. If I tally up all the numbers, I get an average of 27.6 miles of fuel economy, which is nowhere near the advertised fuel economy. Can you comment as to why the numbers are so different?
Just give it time and you should see a good deal of improvement once the vehicle is broken in. Thanks!
Do u guys know if the 2025 reg highlander will have any updates or face lift ?
@Brian_Eugene_Lee2025 Camry and current Sienna are hybrid only, so it would not be unusual to think this will go that way too
The Highlander probably has a year or two more before major updates
Very stupid question (as you are both really good at these), but did you reset the MPG meter when you began the trip? It's odd that the car would be so off with MPG...
To confirm, yes we did! We triple checked too
@@CarConfections You two are the best, keep up the good work
My wife and I have had our hybrid max since last September and we average 23-24
Did you reset the odometer between each check-in?
We didn’t reset the whole system, just an individual trip, separate from the total reading
You should also do manual calculations as the computer is sometimes off as well.
We spent time doing manual calculations at the end of the video
Don't do the speed limit, no one does that. Go with the normal flow of traffic. Sure not the fast lane but do middle or left lane to get real world mpg.
Which do you prefer this new “grand” highlander or the regular highlander ? Kinda of hard to tell the difference at times
The Grand Highlander seems like the better fit for most families. We have a detailed comparison on the channel if you want to learn more about the differences 👍
It will tell you exactly what your mileage is when you turn it off and look at the dash, it will explain the mileage.
That's to be expected. The hybrid system is just dead weight at highway speeds. If you do mostly highway travel, the regular gas model is the one to get.
100 percent correct
I thought you guys lived in Richmond!
Richmond is a street in their test drive route like three years ago
@@Car_conversati0nz Richmond is also a town in Kentucky
The real mpg is probably the average of the computer and acutual fuel used according to the gas pump.
I wish it had a bench seat option
You can get a bench seat but only on the regular hybrid
I have a normal Highlander V6 and its calculations are ALWAYS on the very conservative side
Most people dont realize the hybrid max is made for performance. Not mpg
A hybrid system can be used to increase performance but the primary reason in Toyotas is efficiency (mpg).
I’m confused. Toyota hybrids always 6% optimistic, how can this new grand highlander to show so much lower vs real life?
Come on Toyota, but a freaking bench seat in the hybrid max models because my family is not interested in the xle and the non hybrid trims!
Gas mileage on all toyota cars are under estimate.
Cincinnati!
Very disappointing. Basically, Hybrid Max is not made for fuel efficiency. It's for towing. So for folks who are not towing regular hybrid is the best choice!
Toyota Hybrid works optimally when you stuck in the traffic. 😅
You’re driving 70 and 80 MPG which usually ruins MPG’s in my 45 years of driving. I think you drove those high speeds and the vehicle calculator assumed lower MPG. I would drive that again the other way.
A lot of highways now have speed limits of 70, 75, and a couple hit 80. There are times in this video where they exceed the speed limit, yet still get a result above EPA's estimate which is not bad at all. Now, like you say, if they kept it on roads where the speeds were 65 and under, that number would have jumped further because less wind resistance.
Not impressed. My 5.7 Hemi Ram truck , loaded with 2 passengers and lots of gear got 23.6 mpg from New York to Kentucky. Crew cab model.
I was just thinking the same thing in regards to my F150 2.7 Ecoboost 4x4
Do a video and post it like these guys did. Its all just a bunch of i can do this or that unless you can prove it.
Want to get my wife the hybrid grand highlander but she keeps saying she wants the sequoia but I’m like heck no about getting her a sequoia but I’m going to get her the grand highlander soon
Why does she want the Sequoia?
@@0HOON0 probably because it's the biggest toyota suv there is lol
the sequoia actually only has same cargo space behind second row as grand highlander. Sequoia you want to pull a boat. Seems Sequoia is inefficient space design.
@elliott3991 sequoia has the same second row legroom as grand highlander as well. But the cargo area in the sequoia to match the grand highlander would make the third row unusable. And about 2 inches less headroom than GH as well for third row people.
Purchase this over the Lexus RX clone which costs 20 to 50% more!
Agreed, unless you like the dealership experience and think the extra cost is worth it. I don't, but others would weight that.
@@scott8919 Currently owning both Lexus and Toyota vehicles, the Lexus dealership is far superior but the growing price difference gap for essentially the same vehicle is becoming out of reach for the masses.,
The RX is at most a 5 seater. Different class. Plus the RX is way more advanced tech and quality materials throughout
@@beexiong2995 The RX is just an over cost clone of the Toyota Highlander, 1980s GM style.
@@icare7151 have you owned both?
Folks let the new cars sit at the dealership for a few months before you make a purchase. Let the price come down to normal...
The dealership don't even have them. They are being pre-ordered from factory.
23 mog god too whay 1980 gars. 1980 pnky git 11.5 mog average

In Canada to get this car is 40 months wait 😂😂 total disgusting
I got GH in Ottawa in 3 months. Before that, was waiting for a regular Highlander Hybrid for 18 months - never got it :)
@@izwaterloo I'm thinking of getting either GH or Crown Sagnia. I have to check the full price and my budget is important too lol . Let's see
Total wait because you want to custom build your own. Thus the wait. Go to the dealership and buy what's on the lot that fits your needs. No wait
