    great video. I've been working on bikes for two decades and riding single-speeds and 3-speeds, yet I learned two new things today for your video! And btw, really great saddle on that 3-speed. I usually buy the B67 because that's what we can get over here in the US.

      Hi and thanks for your comment! I'm glad to hear that you found the video helpful and that you learned a couple of new things from it, despite your experience. Regarding the saddle, I appreciate your compliment! It is indeed very comfortable. Shame you can't get the full range of Brooks saddles there but the B67 is also a pretty nice option.

    I think another important thing to mention: Check the tension at different places in the rotation of the front and rear sprockets, as chain tension can vary with this. This is because sprockets are not manufactured exactly concentric with their center (normal manufacturing tolerance). Set the tension at the tightest point. If you don't, it will be too tight at its tightest spot.

    Spent about 500 miles on it and so far so good. czcams.com/users/postUgkxMesz3KOGEmwmvyKQfLfrRSUXLFzfVHZA Pros:1. Very light2. Solid quality build3. Fast delivery: It arrived 5 weeks earlier than expected.4. Easy assemblyJust a few cons but nothing major:1. Cheap tin tubes and had flat on first day... but not a big deal. I replaced the tubes.2. Seat is a bit uncomfortable but that's pretty much the same situation with most bikes.3. Seat post is a bit long/high for a smaller size 48 bike - had to saw 2 inch off to fit properly. The lowest setting is too high. The post locking system does not seem to hold well (perhaps because I saw 2 inch off).4. wheels are not tubeless compatible (from what I can tell)

    The problem I have is that the tossers that sold me my bike have made everything as difficult as possible to adjust so that you'll just bring it in to them - my chain snapped and I had them replace it, so now the chain keeps jumping in almost all the gears no matter how I try to adjust it - is this something I can fix by tightening the chain? I also noticed the new chain is a link longer than the old one so that wouod explain why it might be loose - issue is I can't get to the bolts to loosen/tighten the back wheel

    • @cyclemaintenanceacademy
      @cyclemaintenanceacademy  Před 3 měsíci

      Hi Joel, thanks for reaching out and sharing your experience. Apologies for the delay in getting back to you.
      I understand your frustration, and it sounds like there may be a couple of factors at play here. If the new chain is longer than the previous one, it could indeed lead to skipping issues. Additionally, drivetrains wear out over time, so if your old chain was significantly worn, it's possible that other drivetrain components, like the cogs, have also worn down, causing compatibility issues with the new chain.
      It might be a good idea to take your bike back to the shop for a thorough diagnosis and any necessary maintenance. They'll be able to assess the problem more accurately and make any adjustments needed to get your bike running smoothly again.
      I hope this helps, and please let me know if you were able to resolve the issue.

    What if you have a bike with gears?

    • @cyclemaintenanceacademy
      @cyclemaintenanceacademy  Před rokem +2

      Hi Tony, thanks for your question. If you have a bike with hub gears then tightening the chain works this same way. For derailleur bikes the rear mech works as a chain tensioner. If your derailleur does not hold the tension on a chain then the chain is either too long or the spring in the derailleur arm is broken. We have a video where we show how to measure the chain so it's tensioned correctly on a derailleru bike here: czcams.com/video/7WFsuyogqqE/video.html
      Hope this helps🙂
