Zach, myself, and the family have been cycling a lot during the Covid epidemic and as a result, I have learned a lot about how to take care of bikes in a lot of ways to add to my DIY skills. Zachary's chain kept falling off his bike consistently and there is an easy fix as long as the chain is not loose due to be over stretched. I decided to make this video so you can try this solution first as it has worked for Zach's bike since doing it.

Thank you for this. My son learned to ride without stabilisers last week and today we’ve been on a big ride (12km) the chain came off about 15 times and spoiled the ride, hopefully your video will help e solve it and the next bike ride will be a lot less stressful.

@@EricDIY you forgot to mention make sure your wheels is straight or it’ll rub against the bike.
I did that nd after all that work ugh my tire was rubbing on the bikes side but I got the wheel straight 😅

Thanks Eric! Among hundreds of fixing dropping chain videos out there talking about high end bikes, yours is the rare one that targets the single speed kid bicycle. One follow-up question. Do you/we not need to adjust the rear brake after pulling the rear wheel backwards? Update: never mind, pulled the wheel, the brake seems unaffected and still effective. I'll call it a win. You forgot to mention keep your tire straight or it’ll rub against the bike. I had to redo my tire to make sure it was straight lol but I got it

Thanks for your video! I just dealing with this right now but I also have stabilisers any ideas how to keep them back as every time I put the support wheels the casing gets lose 🤦♀️.

I would try to get the wheel held back as you put back on the stabilizers which is not easy. You would probably need someone to hold the wheel back while putting the stabilizers on.

I know how to put the chain on our problem is now matter if i keep the chain loose or tight it just keeps falling off. Maybe just cheap Huffy bikes!
The chain could be stretched out if doing what I show you in this video doesn't work out. They do sell a chain checking tool

I used your method it worked for. A few days and then again came. Off today, why do u think it keeps on loosing and how to fix it. Also can dirt anx grease cause chain to fall off
You need to adjust it tighter by making sure you have the wheel as far back and tight as you can with the chain on. Make sure the bolt is tight enough to stay on

My daughters single speed bike chain comes off a lot. The bike has a fender on the back so, we only have so far to pull back before it rubs the fender. Not sure what to do. Such a thing as removing a bike chain link? Thx
You can remove a link but you need the chain "breaker" tool

As I tighten it slides back in with each turn (due to it being angled). and at least with my back, I can’t get it to stay in. Also even after I do this it slides back out over a few weeks due to temperature shifts. Any tips from anyone? The chain keeps falling off my kids bike and I look like an incompetent father 😂. A bottle of whisky to whoever saves me, beats buying a new bike.. god damn expensive here in Sweden.
Get someone else to hold the wheel back while you tighten the bolts

You could but I use a wrench which is the proper tool so you don't round out the hex screw
So when I loosen the nuts, I can pull the wheel back a bit more on the right side, but not the left. Not sure what the deal is. I tried using some WD-40, but the bolt seems tuck.
You can try heating the bolt up with a torch of some type as it might be corroded

earlier tonight i cut the holy goodness out of my hand in like 2 seconds my chainring was sooo sharp jeez it hurt.

Probably a new chain...they sell chain check tools or you could just replace it if it's old

Try some wd40 on it. Try to use a wrench with a long handle

It shouldn't..if anything it will give you more force when you're pedaling. However, probably no real improvements on speed.
