  • Here are some tips to easily thread your carp line through rig tubing.

    Rig tubing is essential for carp fishing safely as it protects the last section of your mainline and protects the fish. If you have used rig tubing before on a fishing session, you may have found that it’s sometimes really difficult to get your line through it. In this video, I use Korda Dark Matter but you can use this method with any length or quality brand of rig tubing.

    I got another tip from someone who watched the video: you can put a tail rubber on one end of the tubing then slide a lead down, this will keep it nice and straight for the line to go through.

      wouldn't using some fly line paste help with threading?

      @@MrPerforations Hi mate, thanks for commenting. Not sure mate, I’m not familiar with fly line paste. If it's anything like vaseline, I don't think it would help, it would ruin the tubing. Cheers, Matt.

      Hi mate, thanks for commenting and for your feedback! Hopefully you’ll find the job much easier now. I must admit that I do prefer to use some nice limp leadless leader material but if rules dictate the use of tubing then it's a good skill to have in your armoury. Hope you get on better with tubing now. Cheers, Matt.

    They could sell them already threaded with some mono for us to just make a knot and pull it trough. I do this myself for threading braided line.
    But thanks learned a trick here.

    • @matthewcollinsangler
      @matthewcollinsangler  Před 3 lety +1

      Avid sell a product called Thread and go tubing, which is tubing pre-threaded with a wire loop. The only trouble is that they are only 50cm long. Too short for my needs but they would be enough for some situations. If I'm using braid I attach it to a mono leader to act as a shock absorber and to provide extra abrasion resistance. As a general rule if braid is allowed then leaders are allowed so I'd use a leadless leader material rather than rig tubing. Cheers, Matt.

    Hi Matthew just watched your video on tubing etc, although i agree with most of what you say there is one part that I dont. That part is placing something ab I've the tubing. I very often use a sinker but the smallest one you can get it does pas through inline leads real easy it does help very slightly with the sinking aspect but most of all it does stop the tubing coming out the clip etc which it has from time to time but s sinker stops this and like you said when changing rig sets etc stops the tubing coming off the main line.

    Try the Gardner threader as it is thinner than pole threaders. I use it when I swap from leaders to tubing as I have three ready to go if required and the Gardner one flys through tungsten tubing

    • @matthewcollinsangler
      @matthewcollinsangler  Před 3 lety +1

      Hi Matt, thanks for the tip. I have tried a few different threaders and they've always been too thick. I wasn't aware that Gardner did one, I'll give it a try. Cheers, Matt.

    Would lubricating the line and pole threader, with diluted washing up liquid or just water, help with the rig tube threading ?

    • @matthewcollinsangler
      @matthewcollinsangler  Před 4 lety +1

      Hi mate, thanks for commenting. In my experience getting the line or tubing wet in any way will make it very difficult, if not impossible to thread. If you use a pole threader then this may be different but I've not tried it. Apparently Kryston's Greased Lightning really helps with threading tubing as well but again it's not something I've tried. Hope that helps, cheers, Matt.

    Hi Matt,
    Have you stopped using gum to prevent the tubing from sliding up when playing the fish?
    Thanks

    • @matthewcollinsangler
      @matthewcollinsangler  Před 4 lety

      Hi Gareth, no I do still use the gum when I fish because of the cats but it such a venue specific addition that I chose to leave it out of the tubing video as it's watched by a wider audience. Also if you don't tie the gum right you can easily create a dangerous rig.

      @matthewcollinsangler  Před 2 lety

      Hi Sam, yes, I still recommend the Dark Matter, it’s good stuff and popular with guests. I’ve not tried the Nash tubing but I’d be very surprised if it wasn’t any good. I have to say, these days, I mostly use lead free leaders where I can. Cheers, Matt.

    • @matthewcollinsangler
      @matthewcollinsangler  Před 2 lety +1

      @@sp1m368 Don’t worry about it mate, there are so many products about! Lead free leaders are a modern replacement for lead-core. They are banned on some venues because in the wrong hands they can be dangerous although they are safer than lead-core. Check the regs of where you want to fish and get going with whatever is allowed. And, yes, there will be a video on this as well at some point!

    • @matthewcollinsangler
      @matthewcollinsangler  Před 7 měsíci +1

      This is a bit specific to my lake as we have cats to 130lbs. You need that length because the sharp spines on the pectoral fins cut through the mainline like a hot knife through butter. Cheers, Matt
