  • The updated Subaru Outback brings with it a brand new engine, EyeSight 4.0, and a hefty price difference from the Forester as Subaru's flagship vehicle. If you are looking for the station wagon experience without compromising the practicalities of an SUV, could this be the one for you?

    The boot cover can be stored on top of the spare tyre, there is a space designed for it there

    In terms of station wagons, I favour the Levorg instead. But the Outback isn't too bad. Thanks for the review Jon!

    I share the same sentiments as you Jon, not only price tag but the hefty road tax and consumption just isn’t worth, the forester will be a smarter choice👍🏽

    I have the previous model but I do live in the Highlands of Scotland which is the perfect match for the Outback in part because of it's excellent all wheel drive system.

    Nice review. There's storage for the tonneau cover right above the spare wheel. There's a built in slot there.

    Probably makes sense for a head-to-head with toyota camry and honda accord... In terms of price (in SG) they are within ball-park, and outback is the wagon version of legacy which competes in the same segment of those 2.

    The Outback comes with pedal shifters which are great for quick shifts when needed. The CVT isn't bad, just a matter of preference. Comfort wise, the Outback is miles ahead from the Forester; interior design and materials choice between the two models are like day and night. So there are significant differences although I submit that the 30K disparity is hard to justify. But there are drivers who favour comfort, looks, touch and other sensory pleasing pleasures enough to justify the additional cost. As for me, I'll wait for the XT variant or the Levorg to make my decision.

    Jon, I think you completely missed the point about the automated boot opening. The whole reason for using the leg/foot trigger is when both your hands are occupied and you need to open the boot (i.e. HANDS FREE). Having the sensor on the badge is cool but ultimately pointless.

    • @sgcarmartreviews
      @sgcarmartreviews  Před 3 lety +1

      Hey Edward, I should've been clearer in the video. You can also use your elbow or any part of your body to hover over the Subaru badge to get the boot to open. So even with two hands carrying things, you just need to hover your elbow over the badge to open the boot.

    2021 still using combi head and rear lamps.. seriously? Competition has moved to full LEDs long ago. And yes, 2.5l CVT just not practical for SG market and a torque converter (tc) transmission would had definitely been great if no turbo. But the combi of tc and turbo would had been super prrhaps, with a 2.0l engine.
