After getting these, I realized that they are the most comfortable headphones I have ever used.
Based. They are amazing.
Thanks for detailed review as always, I'm looking at these currently but in the Rosewood.
Excellent Review! I really like your review, specially because you talk about songs that you play to make the tests.
Looks like I didn’t have to send you an email to review these, thanks for the video!
excellent review, very thorough and informative. I personally like your conclusions!
Loved the review!
I like your approach to reviews. Straightforward and clear comparisons. You could just as well call your channel No BS Reviews. 😜
I am only halfway and this is an incredible review...
I still love your content 😊
Excellent in depth review. I'm tempted to check these out. Seems like they went for a "Fun" tuning. Torn on what version though. Both Wood Cups look nice
What a good review, it is really very complete. Great thanks, I subscribe.
I just got these today and it's so much to slap the ear cups together that I don't know if I'll ever listen to them. 🤣
Glad you got around to these. I was curious about them. I already saw a negative review about the Austrian Audio X-15 lol.
To each their own. I wish people would stop dictating their sound preferences on everybody else. But then I suppose ASR would be out of business.
@@NoThemeReviews Everyone is entitled to an opinion. That's just one person. I tend to eventually try products myself and compare them. I have no idea why people put stock in measuments. Snobs I guess?
Yeah, there’s a definite snobbish personality in that group. They also seem not to understand what they’re regurgitating from Amir. For a group that claims to be science-focused, they employ a disgusting amount of science illiteracy and lack of common sense.
They look awesome in black.
I just got mine (black) last week. They really settled in after 20 hours of burn in. The fullness and clean quality of the bass is something special. Combine that with pleasing mids and treble, wide soundstage, above average detail and presence, easy to drive. These have a sound signature almost identical to what I would dial in with a 7 band EQ.
These make my beloved X2HR's sound weak. The Robin's are winners and I would've been happy paying $250...I doubt there's a better fun (don't mix on these) headphone under $300. My only gripe would be to have a more padded headband.
btw great review, you are a boon to the headphone community.
Maybe a bit off topic, but beyerdynamic seems to be releasing a new 770 and 990, a pro x version, with new drivers, pads, and look. It seems they're pricey, but I just wanted to put it on your radar
Bought them too.(the 700’s for studio) very interesting we picked the same 2! You have good taste!
Nice review as always, could you find time to review the Modhouse Argon that i love ? also I'm looking at getting the fostex TH610 it would be great if you could get your hands on one, from what i know it sounds like a descent closed back headphone . noticed no reviews on fostex headphones from you, thanks
Yeah, I've been thinking about doing a T60 and Argon comparison. I'll try to get a 610.
@@NoThemeReviews cool, thanks, looking forward to it.
Great review, but I wonder how these compare to the AKG K361.
or 371
My current closed are Senn HD569 and Takstar Pro 82. Any opinions on how much of an upgrade this would be if any?
Seems similar to DT 770 Pro 80ohms based on your description.
How do they compare to the Focal Elegia? Or DT770?
Thanks for this review. I am a little unclear about the vocal sibilance. Is it adding sibilance or is it bringing out sibilance that exists in the recording (i.e. is it showing up that detail or exaggerating it?). Thanks for any feedback.
It doesn’t add sibilance. It accentuates what’s recorded
Nice review! Can you check if the SV021 pads would fit on the Phoenix, i.e. if the rings are the same size and can be clipped on? I really like the look of the thick soft pads, I want to get them for my Phoenix. Thanks!
They are not interchangeable.
@@NoThemeReviews I know the cup shapes are different, but would the ring/clip fit tho?
@@neocui no. They are not in the same positions
That's an extremely good looking headphone. Especially for the price. Glad you got the dark color.
Are there any dual plug cables with a boom mic in them? With their sensitivity and ohms these would work great plugged into a PS5 or Xbox controller.
Yeah, I think you can find some options on Amazon and AliExpress.
i'd be interested in a fostex T60rp review. Other videos just write them off and just say to get the argons. one review didn't do that and stated that they do metal music really well which is a positive for me but i'd appreciate an analytical review
Zeos loves T60rp
@@taylorjordan1122 then its not worth getting then.
@@chefsteve8381 he almost "loves" everything that's decent (which I'm sure the T60rp are) so saying he loves them doesn't mean anything really 😆
There is also a t60rp Argon which has slightly less bass but better highs and soundstage
@@heavynova I'm aware of those but I doubt the bass would impress me. Tight puchy bass or just neutral would be more my liking. I'm a bassist some I'm picky about bass. Though if they do have close to that then I'll definitely check them out
You actually do the most in-depth and well timed
reviews for headphones huh?
Yes, yes he does.
Just bought a pair of these. Interestingly, all other reviews I've found seem to really like this headphone, with one exception. There is one reviewer out there, and sadly I don't have the website in front of me to post the link, who seems to indicate that they thought this headphone was extremely v-shaped, and when they passed along their concerns, they were urged by Collin at Sivga to make the review completely positive. If I think about it, I'll post that link here. Sounds completely at odds to everything I've heard about Sivga though.
Yeah that does sound a bit odd.
@@NoThemeReviews Very interesting. When I performed a search for "sivga robin review", the exact same search terms I used this afternoon, that review I mentioned seems to have mysteriously vanished.
@@sockhopsinger And I tried to post the link to that site but CZcams keeps deleting it. Even mentioning the site, not the link seems not allowed?? This is ridiculous!
I want a pair of nice closed backs for semi-competitive gaming sessions, would you recommend these? Should mention that my other sets are Senn 58x and Audeze LCD-X 2021...I just miss the closed back experience sometimes.
I’m sure you’d have a fine go with the Robin. I suppose it depends on what you’re really hoping to hear. If you want detail, separation, placement then the x55 is a better option.
Is this the best around 200USD? Better than Hifiman 400i 2020 or 400se?
Is it better than Sivga Phenix ?
What is that mini player? Is it a MP4 player or is it a portable dac/amp? Looks very nice
Fiio M15
am I missing something here, all the headphones you compaired to the Robin were all open back and the Robin is closed, does that not make a huge differance ?
No it doesn’t make a huge difference. Open back headphones sometimes have greater soundstage but that’s not always the case. Bass is often rolled off in open backs, but that’s more a general observation than a hard rule.
As usual, fantastic review. Sounds like a decent, fun headphone, marred by sibilance. Did you try to EQ some of that out? How far behind vocals do electric guitars sit? I prefer these two elements to be about equal. Would you say they are a decent, good, or great fit for rock and metal? I'll have to hear this wider soundstage than open backs to believe it.
I didn't EQ, but I'm sure you can bring some of the sibilance down. Of course, what you listen to and your sound preferences might make this a non-issue. If you give me the names of a couple of rock tracks, I can give you a better idea about vocal placement.
@@NoThemeReviews one of the below songs?
iron maiden-Hallowed be thy name; UDO-recall the sin; Jorn-ride like the wind, Jethro Tull-Aqualung; Axel rudi pell - night and rain
Got these today and I agree with you in many aspects. First the bad, the sibilance, it is more accentuated than the sibilance in the Fidelio X2HR, I hope I can correct this with EQ like you suggested. Also I agree that the detail retrieval is very good, at least when compared against the X2HR and the HD600 (I don't have the HD6XX). The Robin sounds like an open back because they are indeed open, due to those vents on the ear cups, you can hear everything around you. I do not agree about the sound stage though, I feel that it is narrower than the HD600. The bass is strong and has some nice timber to it, I think that maybe its due to the wooden ear cups and the vents, they make the sound resonate in a very nice way.
Hello :). I have a request. Could you compare the Sivga sv21 to the ATH MSR7b? I am looking for closed headphones and I wonder between these and these.
+1
Compared to the Yamaha mt-8 for music and movies? Mt-8 are a bit cheaper than Robin from where I am.
This headphone sounds like ath mrs7, what do you guys think?
How does it compare to the meze 99 classics ? will they be something quite different?
Yes. The two are very different
Hello
Which headset would be a clear improvement over this one in terms of a bit more clarity, fun, scene....
I have no idea what you'd consider fun. As for more clarity...well...there are others like the Austrian Audio Hi-x15, x25bt, x55, x65, Focal Clear, Sennheiser HD800s.
would you go for these or the AKG 371 for a casual a ou d the house noise isolating (out more than in) pair of headphones, genres - alternative, female voices, just casual rather than sit down reference type listening?
I’d probably use these.
@@NoThemeReviews I'll order the black/brown one later through your link, according to one reviewer the black ones are for people who don't have time to smile, I just like black 🤣
you can buy spare earpads in hifigo
What would you recommend for cheap closed back headphones that are "flat" and are max 32 ohms with a removable cable, doesn't have to be super flat, lower treble due to sensitivity and a bit higher sub bass
Maybe OneOdio Monitor 60
@@NoThemeReviews alright, thank you
Check out Superlux closed backs. There’s one flat (mine) and another bassy one
how do the tygr 300r compare to it as they are in the same price bracket :3
I don't have the 300r.
Blows away the Tygr's. Tygr's sounded so muffled to me and generally blah. Returned them right away and got these.
is the robin more comfortable than the aq nighthawk( the most comfortable HP for me period) ? @ No Theme Reviews
I think so
I Always wanted to try the knighthawks but I heard they're similar to the meze 99 which I already own.
@@epicmike3915 don't know any knighthawks, read about them sometimes in yt comments, nobody could tell me what they are. From what company are they, can't find them anywhere online. Are they similar to the AQ nighthawks (are they a mod of them) ?
@@oneeyeop-en6720 My user
spelling error. Feel free to continue being an ass about it tho. I will ignore you from now on.
I've got 'em and the only thing I kind of not like is that everything sounds so far away (besides the base which slams like nothing else). Also the microphonics are very bad.
What is the media player being used around 6:30 ?
Fiio M15
are these for the same crowd as the Sennheiser HD 560s?
if not, what are the major differences?
The HD560s is supposedly neutral (it isn't) and is made for professional application. The Robin is not a headphone intended to be used by professionals, and is not designed to be neutral. So, no; these are not for the "same crowd."
@@NoThemeReviews which is better for enjoy music?
@@onlyspace9813 There is absolutely no objective response to that question. That's an entirely personal preference.
Just clicked BUY on the Robin! Should be here on Sunday!. I actually got the lighter colored model but after seeing the Black version, I now want that one! It's sexier. If I like it I may buy the Black and give the "Peanut Butter" version to my son.
Please share your thoughts here. Also, do you have any other closed backs?
Thank you, I have just realised why I didn't keep my Harmon dynamic zeus, it sounded fine but did nothing to move me, I think and I am still learning my preferences as only a year if that into this pursuit. It's too smooth, I seem to prefer planars over dynamics and I like bite in my sou d ranges, it seems I don't favour anything too "polite" 😁
open back planars that is over dynamics
Lol. Well…you could look into the Sundara, the M1070, or LCD1.
@@NoThemeReviews funny you should say that i Sundara 2020 and it's one of my favourites, although just got the Deva Pro and loving that as well for around the house, I also like my 6xx for certain types of music, I'm going through my midfi stage 😁
@@NoThemeReviews just watched the Sigva get trashed by a reviewer, think one must have bit him as a baby
Most reviewers can't separate their own personal preference about sound from the actual review of a product.
Would the robin be a good companion headphone to the Hd560s?
Depends on your preferences.
@@NoThemeReviews I’m fairly easy going on the sound signatures. Just looking for a more fun set than the 560s and is closed back.
@@johnvip123 I don't know if you and I would agree on a definition of fun sound, but you might want to look at a few options: Robin, HD569, Yamaha MT7, and DT770. These are all within a similar price range as the HD560s.
Can you link the headphone stand, please?
That's a woo audio headphone stand
@@mikeantner44 thanks, found it.
It has dual purposes: a headphone stand, as an axe.
@@NoThemeReviews 😊.This is the only design that holds 2 headphones with ease. Quite pricey though.
What about comparing sivga 006 to SV021 Robin?
I don’t have the 006
Such a great design and execution - But those sibilance and harsh top... If they fix that - they will crush the market!
Funny, I own both the HD650s and the Fidelio X2HRs and to my ears the X2HR's are really far more bassier than the HD650s, there's just no comparison. And I find the HD650s to have more clarity overall than the X2HRs. But maybe I have a different perception of clarity. I find the X2HRs very grainy sounding, presenting 'fake details' that sound more like resonating artifacts than music. They are excellent for movies and Netflix though. I am surprised the Sivgas have a wider soundstage than the X2HRs, their big soundstage and big bass is/was one of the selling points of the X2HRs. I may well have a look at those Robins. But then again, I already own so many different flavors, with currently the Avantone Planars, NightOwls and Fidelio X3 in heavy rotation...I think I may have to pass on those Sivgas.
Yep
Well I got me a pair. And they are excellent. Not perfect, not neutral nor completely natural, but definitely a fun pair. Their bass can be overpowering at times, but not in an intrusive way. And yes, the treble is hot, but never harsh. No glare, grain or hardness in the sound. Lets call it a smooth sibilance. Soundstage is excellent. Not as wide as the X2s but close and with more depth.
They are just fabulous with classical music, in fact they are fine with everything, true allrounders in my opinion.
But only for those who aren't that treble sensitive.
So, this or 6xx?
Depends on what sound signature you want. The 6xx is closer to neutral and has a warmer sound.
THE $150 "CLOSED BACK" NO-BRAINER OF THE YEAR - PERIOD END-OF-STORY! (WON'T FIT SMALLER HEADS 6 1/2" - 7 1/4")
since when Meze is a common brand?
Since the 99 Classic and Neo. These headphones are available everywhere.
They are ok, especially when we take price in consideration. Nice build quality and that's all. They lack low bass. They had a lot of mid bass. Mids are back, which is sad for me. Highs are above neutral, but not very good quality. Overall ok cans, but nothing special.
So Robin or Phoenix?
Depends on what you want.
@@NoThemeReviews soundstage and separation.
@@LandsPlanes I covered this in the review. The Robin has wider soundstage, but about the same amount of detail and clarity as the Phoenix.
@@NoThemeReviews Ok thanks!!
@@NoThemeReviews thanks. I think i will stay with robin. Cheaper, maybe a little confortable.
I wish a ranking of you. Myabe you are one of few reviewrs unsponsored of CZcams.
