    Burnt sienna is like a warm slice of buttered toast. It's like sipping cinnamon hot chocolate in front of a campfire. It's like popcorn when watching a movie. Burnt sienna just feels so right.

    My favourite burnt Sienna has always been W&N - just lovely in mixes. Also it is transparent which is also good to mix into semi- opaque or opaque pigments and not get mud... It also is my favourite burnt Sienna to make the all time favourite grey with French Ultramarine. I have not tried Michael Harding yet but really want to give it a try. Thanks so much for a wonderful comparison video. beautifully done!

      Thank you for sharing that with me! PR101 is a versatile mixing complement--a personal favorite--so I can definitely visualize the lovely mixes that you're referring to. Just like Winsor & Newton's, Michael Harding's Burnt Sienna is delightful to work with so I highly recommend trying it out too.

      Thank you for your kind words and for subscribing to the newsletter! I do my best to include the hot-pressed sheet and some mixes at the end so it is delightful to hear that you appreciate them. There'll be more on my website soon. I had planned to include more mixes but decided against doing so in the end since the video was already getting lengthier.
      I've had my website since I was much younger and it has been getting more "color and content" action since last year. It is important for me to prioritize your experience on the channel and that's probably why you haven't really heard of it. Mentioning my website and the product links have taken the back seat. This way, you and other viewers, can focus on the videos and not be distracted. Aside from the "special project" that I'm working on, part of my goal is to publish all the swatch sheets that I have featured on CZcams and on Instagram on the website as well. So there'll be a long list of passion projects that are coming up!
      I appreciate YOU and your support. Burnt Sienna is a palette staple for me and it is also my husband's favorite so this video is extra special!

TY for including Utrecht. 😂 I remember driving to Chicago with other art students about 30 years ago. There weren't as many local art supplies available at that time. It took us three hours to drive there to purchase much less expensive oil paints. We made some fun memories. 😊 Thank you for helping us make easier choices today.🥰

    Wonderful, as always! :D My favourite is still the Schmincke Horadam, probably because I’m so used to it. Some people take offence that it has PBk included, but I don’t mind. It mixes the most gorgeous greys with Ultramarine finest, and I love it for skin tones, too. I like that it is not very granulating compared to others. I don’t like Horadam’s new Transparent Burnt Sienna, it often has too much binder.

    • @stiviwonders

      Wonderful to have you here again! What I love about your message is that you found one that works for you and you're loving it. That is fantastic! Others take a lifetime to find what they like, in pigments and in life, in general, so they take offense easily. I love, love Schmincke's Ultramarine Finest with Burnt Sienna! I have not experienced too much binder content on my Transparent Burnt Sienna one. Sorry to hear that your experience with it is different. These days, I keep reaching for Michael Harding's Burnt Sienna and Della Magna's Monte Amiata Burnt Sienna.

    • @UTleochi
      @UTleochi Před 2 měsíci +1

      @@stiviwondersThank you so much for your kind reply! Sometimes one might get lucky and find the right colour right away. That was the case for me with the Schmincke Burnt Sienna. Horadam was the first professional watercolour I ever tried in my younger years and it has been a trusty companion for ages, before I started branching out and trying all kinds of other watercolour companies. I do like other Burnt Siennas, namely the Winsor&Newton, the Sennelier, the Rembrandt, the Holbein and a few others. I haven’t tried Michael Harding’s watercolours and I haven’t yet heard of the Della Magna colours. Recently I’ve been thinking of refraining from buying new watercolours, and to use what I have, which is more than I will ever be able to use up, unless I start painting murals with all the watercolour brands I’ve been collecting for the past 20 years or so. ;))
      Lovely swatching videos like yours are a relaxing way of rediscovering all the beautiful colours I might already own. 🤩

      Hello! Have you tried this Opera Rose from Michael Harding Watercolours? czcams.com/users/shortsbB2AcsWvEFo
      It may very well be the answer to your question. It has a good lightfast rating. Meaning, while it does not have the longevity that comes with colors with “excellent” lightfast ratings, it is still palette-worthy for those whose work requirements do not demand for paintings to last for more than 100 years under gallery or museum conditions. For those who cherish pink pigments, this is a sophisticated pink watercolor, richly-pigmented, delightful to work with, and it is wonderfully vibrant sans the obtrusively bright “neon” appearance that is typically associated with other Opera Rose options in the market.
