Ricky Skaggs is well known for playing the Mandolin. This song brings tears every time i hear it. This song is played at every family funeral i have been to. Other songs are to follow are I'll Fly Away, Will The Circle Be Unbroken, Amazing Grace. These songs take me back to all i have lost over my years on earth and remembering them. Prayers for your grandfather fighting cancer. Hope he beats it again. I have lost 2 grandpas, 2 grandmas, couple of my grandmas sisters and my mom all to cancer. I have a 6 year old grandson who just got cleared of childhood leukemia. Cancer sucks.

My nieces are bluegrass musicians and have met all 3 of these great artists as well as being fans of them. My nieces said that they are nice, down-to-earth people. 🙂. We played this at my grandfather's funeral 12 years ago. Since then I have lost my grandmother, my mom, my dad, my stepdad, and my aunt. And about 4 months ago we found out my best friend has stage 4 breast cancer. I cry every time I hear this song.

Vince Gill has one the most pure voices in country music along with his guitar skills and obvious song writing abilities. Allison Kraus is an amazing vocalist along with being one heck of a violin player and Ricky Skaggs is a talented vocalist and musician himself. Their harmony is heavenly and the message is beautiful. A somber song? Yes. But yet so beautiful.

Played this at my son's funeral. Makes me cry every time I hear it. He was killed in a car accident a month after his 25th birthday. Oh Ricky was playing either a mandocaster or a mandolin not sure which one.

Got to see Alison Krauss in the Outlaw concert in Virginia Beach a few years back (Willie Nelson, The Avett Bros., and Lukas Nelson) and I am very grateful for that opportunity. She is older now, but aging gracefully and I found her to be absolutely stunning in her performance. Have always been a Vince Gill fan as well. His voice can take you far, far, away. Vince and Alison also performed this song at George Jones' funeral. Alison had to carry the song during it because Vince broke down. After the band played a couple of chorus' Vince had composed himself enough to finish the song.
